Hey #TheatreThursdayFam 🎉💕🎭 Thank you so much for all of the sweet comments (you guys rock!) I finally made that video about my experience on FAKING IT and I included some advice! Acting on a TV Show! | First Experience & Advice: ruclips.net/video/7H1PujkOsjc/видео.html
Katherine Steele hi,I really want to become an comedian actor. But i don't know what to do. I did a bit of theater. And the other problem i live in Austria. If you could help me pls write me back ty.
Something that I like to tell people beginning acting or their first time being in a play: 10 Things that require NO talent: Punctuality Preparation Be Dressed for The Job Be Considerate Work Ethic Effort Energy Attitude Passion Coachable Learning this early on really helped me with future acting jobs, etc. Thanks for another great video!
I wish you could be my agent or something....no one understands how much I really want to become an actress. Not to meet other actors or actresses or musicians, but for the feel of it and sensation. I love the idea of being on a TV show or Movie and being a role model for others
Same before I die I want to be known and I love the feeling when I see people act sometimes I act to myself. Once my mom saw me acting to myself and she thought I was on drugs 😂
I've only been in school plays, the lead in three of them, and in one of them, I played an old man who traps a family in his house and he's obsessed with mayonnaise...
I would love to be an actor but I'm so freaking shy and have so much anxiety I was so close to joining drama club in my school but instead I decided to go to college for my nursing degree and I really dont know what to do I have 0 experience acting but I use to sing and perform a bit as a kid and I loved it
Get an agent and do lots of small stuff like commercials, extras ect ect! To gain more experience so you could get bigger stuff like roles in movies/TV shows
I believe in you!!! The fact that you are posting this shows how much acting means to you and how much you love it :) you will beat your anxiety :) just be in the moment and trust yourself and the universe and God or whatever you believe in!!!
I love this video! I've been reeeeeaaaally wanting to get back into acting again. To anyone who is afraid of following their dreams, or trying something new, I decided to drop out of college and pursue a music career with little experience and no industry knowledge. It was the scariest thing I've ever done and my parents were beyond thrilled *cough* sarcasm *cough*. It's now two years later and I've had a song on Colorado radio, a professional songwriting job, I've performed at venues I used to dream of playing, and got to work with some amazing people! I hope this doesn't seem bragging (I'm still a 'lil baby artist, anyway), but I just genuinely believe that if you follow your passion and put your mind to it, things will fall into place. We're on a rock in space- DO WHAT YOU LOVE!
I normally don't comment, but I saw yours and really wanted to say how proud I am of you! You did something many people are incredibly afraid for and some even never do because of that afraidness. But you took the risk and it had an amazing outcome! I don't know you but I'm really glad it worked out so well. It probably wasn't easy for you but you chose to fight instead of running away and that is really inspiring. I really hope you will have an amazing future ahead of you and that all your dreams may come true :) (sorry if there are any mistakes in this, my mother language isn't English)
Honestly I get so inspired watching movies and seeing actors like Jennifer Lawrence as she came from no experience. I’ve just signed up for a membership with actors gym which gives opportunities for agents and casting ect but it’s very confusing so I’m here incase nothing happens!
Ok this may sound crazy but all my life I've loved theater and I've always been afraid of pursuing it but now I'm really determined on doing this but I have like 0 experience except for 2 school plays and I'm 16 and I'm kind of freaking out because I feel like it's too late
I have a similar situation except mine may be a bit worse 😅 I'm 19 & in my second year of college. Zero experience besides one year of theatre in middle school. But now I really want to start taking it seriously! I say take advantage of free theatre that your high school probably offers!!
Honey I’m 28 and just started getting experience last year. I act regularly at my church-we have a huge stage for the kids and our own sitcom style curriculum which is awesome-feels like a real tv show. Don’t worry you’re too old-find small ways to regularly put yourself on stage no matter how small and just go for it. You can always practice facial expressions and scenes and record yourself performing movie/book parts and see how you’re doing to connect by watching it back. Keep up the good work!
Andrea NO it's not too late! lol i'm no actor (not yet) but even I know that. Plenty of household actors/actresses didn't land their first major role until their mid 20's or later. And I also think it's a myth that you have to look like Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie to become a household name.
Such a great video, Katherine! Totally want to hear all about you being an extra! I signed up to take an acting for film class at my acting school so I'm very excited to get that experience in front of a camera!
You're so pretty! Can you do an updated video on this since its 2018 but with a twist. Can you do how to become an actor if your broke? I'm probably the only one who needs this tho.
+Hannah Czaplicki yay! I'll add your vote! (That's so cool that you know it! I watched a couple episodes before I did it--I ended up getting hired for the prom episode and the one before that)
Thank you for giving me advice Katherine. I have done 4 high school Plays and 12= 18 plays! and taking musical theater and acting classes. I took voice lessons and join choir since middle school and high school and I have been taking dance classes in my area for my recital and now online. So I have acting experience and training for my career!
You're one of the first actor's that actually respond to their channels; do you know the costs of signing up? I'm gonna convince my parents. I'm 15, 6'4".
I totally agree with everything you said in this video! I'm going to be sharing it with my viewers who have asked me the same things. and yes please talk more about extra work! super awesome video 😀
I Always Pretending That Im In A Movie Or Tv Shows And Pretend That im in a Cast at All Thats My Dream i love Acting So Much Even My Parents Ignored Me Because they say that i will never be an actor but ty for advising i will not give up because an actor is my dream!🥰❤️
well i know im commenting this late, but gl to ya'll! I wanna be a screen actor too, having been a theatre actor for almost 4 years. I'm 14 soon, so I'm around you guy's age. I will say, its probably WAY BETTER to be a screen actor, cuz if u mess up in theatre, YOU CANT RE-DO IT! But that also means that what she said in the video is VERY true. Theatre acting is a great start to ur acting skills, and I say this as an experienced theatre actor lol. I've performed live in front of tens of thousands of people, and it's so nerve racking at the start. Ok ok, anyways, I just wanted to wish ya'll good luck, and to persue whatever u wanna persue lmao. Good luck from a fellow actor! :)
Hey I am a 12 year old as well. I am in the same position. I have acted in one school play and danced in another. I tried out for one but didn't get in. I don't know where to start. I feel ya!
Please dont quit, I am 26 and I just figured out that you are never too late to follow your passion. Just dont waste more time thinking that you are late. Good luck to you guys. Hope to see you on the big screen 🙌🏽
I was an extra in a school film funded by my local council, it had a real director and everything! I managed to get a really good scene, I was right in the middle of the shot!
YESS getting in the theatre is so important when you want to do film/TV!!! I didn't understand that until I got my agent and I was worried because I'd never done a film before. But she was like "oh thank God! You do theatre! It really helps when actors know how to act!" 😂😂😂
Thank you for your beautiful video! Can't wait to watch through the playlist you put together too! Would love to hear about extra work...how to get the roles, what to do, who to talk to, how to absorb as much information as you can while you're there :)
I did a thing at this place, (it was a scam psshh) and that dude from good luck Charlie was there and I tried out for this acting thing. I was practicing my lines and then I was called. They said I didn’t have to memorize the line but I did lol. He said I was doing really well and had a natural talent for acting...unfortunately it was a scam. But still I wanna know if I should pursue it?? I’m 13 right now so I feel as i am too late...
I'm 13 and have always wanted to do acting. I always thought I couldnt but last year one show changed everything and I felt the want to again. I want to young but my parents dont have money or time. No matter how hard I try I'm sure they wouldnt let me. So far I've been in choir for 4 years, and orchestra 3. I've practiced memorizing lines and acting out a few. I hope to get there one day!
Katherine I don't know why but I'm terrified of joining groups like theatre and acting I can't join my school plays as their all for year 11s and their all boring and pretty much SUCK! plus I don't know why when I'm with a theatre group it doesn't feel real and I hate it! I just want to be a real actor and I struggle with huge groups of people but acting on film seems less scary even though there is a huge cast and crew behind the camera. I need your help it's just a natural fear I have!
Hey , I love this video of you 😃🧡 It was really helpful for me , You're gonna see me in the future in a very high level. Finally, I really thank you ♥️
Hey Katherine I just wanted to say thank you for giving people like me that wanted to be Actor this kind of advice it really inspires me to work hard towards being a great actor and for that I truly thank you and I won't give up until my dream of becoming an actor become reality the great Actor for me didn't give up and look where they are they kept working hard and kept only moving forward and that's what I'm going you until I become a great actor as just what I want to say to you thank you again
Simply Khadijah For me, I researched agencies in my area and submitted to a couple that interested me! I ended up getting a reply from one and I am now signed with them. Create a resume, take a headshot (even if it’s with your phone), write a cover letter, and send it to the agency. Good luck!
Finn lieberher I would recommend trying to get some experience at school or community theatre. Even some training! You can see if there are any theatre classes in your area and it’ll help build your resume.
Also, for those of us in theater: I-remember-there-was-mist.tumblr.com! She's a professional actress and voice teacher in Minneapolis and has taught me almost everything I know about technical singing and the basics of acting. I've asked her tons of questions and she's always been super helpful and encouraging. I read her blog every day to learn more about acting and singing.
All I want to do is have a role in the third Jurassic World, just being a random person passing by or something. I'd probably pay Universal to hire me. xD
I love theatre very much and I have done a lot on stage and am going to start voice lessons in about a month, and I am planning on starting a career in acting I want to thank you for these helpful and inspirational videos, so thank you
i really wanna be an actress.two problems to, i’m a hijab and i live in the middle east i really have no idea how to even start but your video has helped somewhat get to it so thank you ♥️
Hello Katherine 💛🙂I am a 10 year old female dreaming to be an actress, I have no experience, I have social anxiety and I get embarrassed easily, I am planning on taking classes soon, but, I'm actually terrified for, memorizing lines, having to have my first kiss with another actor/actress while acting, and, having to wear something too exposing. You inspire me and I hope to become a very famous actress one day❤🙂
I have been in two school plays and I can sing. I was born with singing talents. I can also dance but my family doesn’t have the money to send me to classes for dancing nor singing. So I am self taught. I got dancing from my older sister and singing runs in our family. I can also play the piano and I am an artist. And like I said, self taught. And I play at church for free but they say that I am amazing for my age. I hope that that is enough
Thank you for this video. It has helped me learn a lot. Even though I don’t have much support in pursuing my dream career, I will keep on trying. And you have helped me do that 😁
I'm an aspiring actress. I did all the plays in school, I had dance classes from the age of 2 and I'm now with an acting troop. I also really enjoy playwriting and songwriting. My dream is to do theatre but it just seems like you need to know someone to go somewhere. Looking for advice on how to get started (I'm from the UK) x
I have joined a few theatre companies where I live, plan to join some choirs too, next year i plan to return to college or uni to do some courses (although I already have a few drama qualifications) and I often teach myself singing using a book and youtube vids.
I grew up attending private school after private school, and there was no theatre, or any activities in general, like art, PE, none of those. So when ppl say ‘The first step to acting is to participate in school plays’ and I’m just like ‘Well sheit”
Ok I need some advice from you !!! I finished a 6 week course acting class ending with a filmed monologue/audition reel it went great loved it. Now whats the next step here do I apply to stuff?? If so how??
No of I where you get acting clases I regret not taking clases early I chose sewing when I was younger cause I thought that’s what I wanted but in reality it’s not and I haven’t told my parents yet and am almost done with high school and I still dream about being an actress but am scared that I won’t make it. So I recommend clases
Ive always being considered a good and funny character when i am acting onstage in school , church and community . But now im 36 , I did my fair share of acting between 1998 - 2005 . I would love to go back , maybe bring in some of my life lessons into it . But not sure where to start since in located in Cold Minnesota ...... Ill check out ur playlist .
I was inspired by the Greatest Shwoman and auditioned for my school play, then got cast into a different play the next week and got to be a co-operator of the spotlight for my school.
I watched Mary Poppins eight or nine times- note that that is TOO MUCH (a few times I went to rehearsal and helped paint for an hour and a half because we couldn't figure out the spotlight, and I had allergies and just wanted to go home). But I did that before the play I was in was performed, so that was technically my first official theater experience.
So I've been an extra multiple times over the past few months, I've trained freerunning, gymnastics all my life and martial arts. I'm training to be a stuntman, as well as an actor but I unfortunately have no resources for acting aside from cold reads or scripts that I'll make myself, I'm homeschooled (in the middle of nowhere) so I can't participate in theatre (however I'm hoping to get more experience next year in college) and I worry that I won't be able to build up an impressive enough resume to get acting rolls. This video has helped me a lot so far in my career and I would appreciate Any more tips and feedback to improve my resume. Thanks again!
I definitely learned a lot from you. I am in a town where acting has went to the next level. I am currently being promoted from a background to a stand in. I have sub and liked
Thank you so much for this video! I was wondering how you feel about apps such as Backstage. Are they helpful in starting your career? Should I try and pay $20 a month for backstage? I’m 16 and would really love to start applying for extras, accept I don’t know how. Thanks for the insight and your time!
I have Musical experience everything from Band, Marching band and Choir however I have not had any acting experience. But I do have a friend that has made a name for himself tell me to get my head shots and use him as a reference I know this will not guarantee I can get work what type of pictures to I need to take the talent scout? I was asked that by a Photographer.
I wish there was a community theatre near me or my school did actual plays instead of the half-done stuff our project of a drama club gets. It drives me mad how little theatre experience I have simply because my school (tbh probably my country) doesn't have the habit of encouraging theatre...
I’m 12 this year...And I’ve wanted to do acting for agessssss (like my whole life secretly) and I feel like it’s to late. I already do dancing..at school and out of school. And if I say now I want to do acting my parents will say “you should’ve told us sooner!” So I’m to scared to ask. But I feel like it’s to late now to start..I’ve been in 2 school plays so like? I need advice!😫 I’m freaking out.
It's definitely not too late!! I didn't really start acting that much until I was around your age, and having experience in dance will really help you out if musical theatre is what you're interested in (which I didn't have whoops). I'd say do as many high school shows as you can, and if you have a local community theatre you should try to get involved there too! Sorry if that didnt really help at all gfdhgh
I have always thought of doing it but I'm shy. I have done theater in middle school when I was in 8th grade, me and my friend did it together and I'm not gonna lie it was fun. My mom says I have a great voice when I talk but because of how nervous I am and shy I haven't done anything that has to do with acting since middle school. 😔
Thank you so much! I´ve been always interested in acting and lot of people told me that i am good at telling stories and things like that, like i can work with my voice well... i took nine years of singing class when i was younger but i never was in drama class or something like that, i remember i wanted to try it since i´ve been child but never had an ocassion :'D now i want to try it, play somewhere, do my best. Maybe even become an actress. This video is really helpful, thank you. And yep, youre just like an anime schoolgirl.
I have such little acting experience. I mainly sang in choir and was only in a few plays. I would love to be in the theatre and tv/movies but I also wanna be a singer. I am currently taking voice lessons.
Thanks Katherine that was so informative and helpful !! I would love to hear about your experience as an extra on faking it. Do you know anything about how to find some great acting workshops?
+Vanessa xo hey vanessa! 💕 check out Backstage.com, they'll occasionally post stuff. Also, call up your local regional/community theatre companies--they'll often do workshops!
I really want to be an actress and I want to get started early and when I was in primary I took part in school plays and sang and danced and also sang at leavers also now because I’m in secondary I have a drama teacher and we always do stuff in there so this has really helped me and I also talked to my mam about it aswell but at this time I just have to research then eventually audition x
Hey #TheatreThursdayFam 🎉💕🎭 Thank you so much for all of the sweet comments (you guys rock!) I finally made that video about my experience on FAKING IT and I included some advice!

Katherine Steele do you go to the school steele
Does it count if your in choir, did school plays, and church ones?
Katherine Steele hi,I really want to become an comedian actor. But i don't know what to do. I did a bit of theater. And the other problem i live in Austria. If you could help me pls write me back ty.
Katherine Steele and I really want to act in LA
how can i start at 14 i want to be apart of musical theater
Something that I like to tell people beginning acting or their first time being in a play:
10 Things that require NO talent:
Punctuality
Preparation
Be Dressed for The Job
Be Considerate
Work Ethic
Effort
Energy
Attitude
Passion
Coachable
Learning this early on really helped me with future acting jobs, etc. Thanks for another great video!
omg THAT IS SO FUNNY! I've been planning a video on that! It's so ridiculously true!!!
Brandon Diaz great minds think alike 😉
Katherine Steele can u be my agent or teacher for acting like on Disney channel or nickeloden
Brandon Diaz Really great advice! I'll definitely go off these bullet points. :) Thanks.
What's your agency I can't find any good ones that aren't a scam please I need help
I wish you could be my agent or something....no one understands how much I really want to become an actress. Not to meet other actors or actresses or musicians, but for the feel of it and sensation. I love the idea of being on a TV show or Movie and being a role model for others

Obsessed with mayonnaise? How did you play me as an old man? Are you from the future?
Lol, ya give me a Gintama vibe.

Get an agent and do lots of small stuff like commercials, extras ect ect! To gain more experience so you could get bigger stuff like roles in movies/TV shows
You can do online acting classes
Same but if you stay in your comfort zone you’ll never be more than you already are
You could really surprise yourself. It's crazy what can happen in life. Look into healing social anxiety and go for it
I believe in you!!! The fact that you are posting this shows how much acting means to you and how much you love it :) you will beat your anxiety :) just be in the moment and trust yourself and the universe and God or whatever you believe in!!!

+spoopyrin not too late at all!! (And sorry that happened to you)
13's definitely not too late. Not everyone can be a "child actor" in the traditional sense.
lol ur good anybody under 18 is a child actor including most of the cast of stranger things
I am 12 and I feel the same way.
I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE AS AN EXTRA
+Jordan Horne yay!! I'll add your vote!! 🎉💕🎭
Anyone been stuck in lockdown and watched LOADS of Netflix?! And now want to become an actor or actress?,
Same
I absolutely love acting, and that's why I want to do it professionally cause I enjoy it.
Hey , I love this video of you 😃🧡
It was really helpful for me , You're gonna see me in the future in a very high level. Finally, I really thank you ♥️
I love your eyebrows. I really like the lopsided to the left smile also. AND I like your advice.
As a 35 yo, it might be a bit strange if I joined the school play
Yes! Would love to hear about being an extra!! Especially the process:-)
yay!! #TheatreThursdayFam 🎉💕🎭
thank you i was nervous about stopping my education and pursuing an acting career

Congratulations! you just got a new subscriber.😁😁😁
Omg helpfully thanks and do you think that you could please do more vids for people with no experience
Some awesome points in here. Thanks Katherine.
I was wondering where to get an Agent? ❤️
This was super helpful, but how does one get an agent with theatre experience?
Katie Priscott you can either be approached by an agency or you can submit to an agency!
how you do that? and I have no experience Katherine Steele
Simply Khadijah For me, I researched agencies in my area and submitted to a couple that interested me! I ended up getting a reply from one and I am now signed with them. Create a resume, take a headshot (even if it’s with your phone), write a cover letter, and send it to the agency. Good luck!
@@MyFunCrafts can i submit to agents with no experience? Im confident in acting
Finn lieberher I would recommend trying to get some experience at school or community theatre. Even some training! You can see if there are any theatre classes in your area and it’ll help build your resume.
Thank you Katherine, I have always wanted to become an actress. Now I think I might be able to follow my dream, thanks to you.
I am 52 and really want to try this because I'm having a hard time keeping a job. Plus I am a convicted felon who is shunned by many 🙁
I honestly just found your channel and I love it! It’s really what I need lol
Yay!!!
Trying to start acting myself. Started as a background and would love to take it to the next level. Where to start?
she's literally every acting teacher ever.
Kath you are SO extra! Tell us about it! lol trying to be punny...BUT I would love to hear about your expirience as an extra!
+Dylan Rose BOOOOOOOOI 😂😂💕
Also, for those of us in theater: I-remember-there-was-mist.tumblr.com! She's a professional actress and voice teacher in Minneapolis and has taught me almost everything I know about technical singing and the basics of acting. I've asked her tons of questions and she's always been super helpful and encouraging. I read her blog every day to learn more about acting and singing.
I love Christine!
This is fantastic as I live in Minneapolis! Thank you for the recommendation
Faith so do i
All I want to do is have a role in the third Jurassic World, just being a random person passing by or something. I'd probably pay Universal to hire me. xD
Same! Heck I don't mind getting eaten by a dinosaur 😂
I love theatre very much and I have done a lot on stage and am going to start voice lessons in about a month, and I am planning on starting a career in acting I want to thank you for these helpful and inspirational videos, so thank you
+Hannah that's awesome Hannah!! 💕 happy to help!!
I can totally see you being the star of a show like new girl, or the unbreakable kimmy shmit, lol just found your channel today! love it :)
i really wanna be an actress.two problems to,
i’m a hijab
and i live in the middle east
i really have no idea how to even start but your video has helped somewhat get to it so thank you ♥️
Hello Katherine 💛🙂I am a 10 year old female dreaming to be an actress, I have no experience, I have social anxiety and I get embarrassed easily, I am planning on taking classes soon, but, I'm actually terrified for, memorizing lines, having to have my first kiss with another actor/actress while acting, and, having to wear something too exposing.
If so how??
I am a very shy person. Also having to carry anxiety on my back is a struggle so I think acting might help me break through my shell little bit.
i dont c are about fame and shit like that I just love the art of acting. Its my favorite thing to do
I would love to hear a q&a!! Love the videos
+Anna Reyanne Oooh that might be fun!!
I really love being an actress but I’m too young maybe in the future
God bless u for this channel omllll
Kat you look so pretty! This was a great video as always so thanks ❤
+Erin Ruby aah THANK YOU!! 💕#TheatreThursdayFam 🎉💕🎭
Really good advice! Thank you!
I love your voice and thank you for all the info you share , big up !
this sounds really helpful, thank you so much!!
Thanks Kath! This helped so much!
I love acting /the idea! It’s my dream job but however I get bullied a lot and my confidence goes down :(
I wish there was a community theatre near me or my school did actual plays instead of the half-done stuff our project of a drama club gets. It drives me mad how little theatre experience I have simply because my school (tbh probably my country) doesn't have the habit of encouraging theatre...
Great video as always, Kat!
+Laura Taunton yay!!! Happy to hear it! Xx 💕
this is so rare stuff so thank u for that
I’m 12 this year...And I’ve wanted to do acting for agessssss (like my whole life secretly) and I feel like it’s to late.
This was very helpful! Great video!!
Thank you Katherine!
Came from your last video loved the recommendation❤️
oh yay!! Happy to hear it love!! #TheatreThursdayFam 🎉💕🎭
Thank you so much! I´ve been always interested in acting and lot of people told me that i am good at telling stories and things like that, like i can work with my voice well... i took nine years of singing class when i was younger but i never was in drama class or something like that, i remember i wanted to try it since i´ve been child but never had an ocassion :'D
now i want to try it, play somewhere, do my best. Maybe even become an actress.
This video is really helpful, thank you.
And yep, youre just like an anime schoolgirl.
+Renyu Oh yay!!!! Happy to hear it!!! Break a leg!! 🎉💕🎭 (and thank you 😂)
I have such little acting experience.
We’ll be taking acting classes starting in January
+Jeremy Lynch that's great!!
