Some facts about this videoclip: - Sharon was pregnant while promoting the album; - The new drummer was about to be announced, that’s why his face is covered with a mask; - This song is from the album “The Unforgiving” (2011), it is a concept album with short movies production and even comic books published with a nice story!!! Now, answering your question, Within Temptation was founded around 1996 (same year of Nightwish, if I’m not mistaken, not sure), while Epica only came in 2002. Nowadays Within Temptation have a more alternative metal approach to their symphonic metal music, but it is still awesome. I really recommend listening to a few of their oldies, like “The Promise” (Live Elements concert, 2012) “Angels” (Live The Silent Force tour, 2005), Mother Earth (Live Elements concert, 2012) and “The truth beneath the rose” (Live Black Symphony, 2008). I hope you like it. Great react video, btw! You rock 🤘🏼 🔥
I second that list! They have great songs and very different sometimes , they don’t make so much symphonic anymore. Also check out one of the newer songs: the Reckoning (there is a music video)
@@PowerfulReactions I agree! I think the best way to enter Within Temptation is with songs like "Angels" or "The truth benath the rose", and other songs from the albums "The Silent Force" and "The Heart of Everything". "Faster" is a song from the album "The Unforgiven", which is cool, but is not that much representative of this band' sound. They changed very much, by the way, now they feel more like Alternative Rock than what they were doing before 2011. Even though, it's still a good band. The lastest album is such amazing, and my favorite song of it would be "Raise Your Banner" (If you are going to react to this song in the future, don't use the videoclip xD; they cutted the song there. Use the lyric video ;)).
Actually Sharon has said in several interviews that she does not like the label symphonic metal to be put on the band. Because this limits the expectations of the audience on what music they will play. The reason that the label got stuck on the band was based on their first 3 albums. They were looking for a specific sound which they considered completed with their "The heart of everything" album. Since then they have created quiet different sounding records. They received a lot of flack for their 4th "The unforgiving" album that was inspired by music they listened to while they were in high-school. Ironically quiet a few remarks where made that specific song sounded like rock songs from the past. which was the point of the album in the first place. They also included a comic story based on the album because a lot of the band members also read comics during this period. The art design was from a former classmate of Sharon when she was at the art's academy and who worked at Marvel at the time. He on his turn suggested the writer :-)
Floor Jansen (Nightwish), Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), Simone Simmons (Epica) and Anneke van Giesbergen (ex-The Gathering, Vuur) are the best Dutch singers, anything your react from them is gold!
Yes, you did it! And the next ones of Within Temptation: "And we run" feat. Xzibit "Angels" "Somewhere" duet with Anneke van Giersbergen Veel plezier! :-)
What a GRRAT song to start with from them!!! One of my absolute favorites, and I’ve been a fan since I was a teenager. Sharon is an incredible singer with such an impressive versatility considering she’s self-taught. One of my favorite groups of all time.
Hell yeah! My Within Temptation is finally here ❤️ Faster is really pop and I love it, but they have a lot of symphonic metal stuff like “Angels” and “The Promise” 😎🤘🏼
I introduced to a symphonic metal with this band, they have many wonderful songs. You can check, "Paradise, what about us" Tarja sings with Sharon two queens in a song.
@@PowerfulReactions I recomend you a band called Stream of Passion. The singer is another godess, Marcela Bovio. I loved this band since my first time.
And then there was that time that Sharon and one of the other band members (not sure which one) took a blind girl skydiving, so she got to cross two things off her bucket list that day! She got to meet Sharon (and later, got to go to a concert and sit pretty much front row) And she got to skydive! It's an amazing video! Now if I cold just remember the name of the show that put the girl on there... If anybody knows, please print it here. It was so cool!
They are heavier live! Sharon is amazing, especially if you know she never had any professional training, she learnt it all by herself. She also designs her own stage costumes. She is the main songwriter of the band (just like Amy Lee for Evanescence). Unfortunately their joined tour this year was postponed... let's hope the new dates will happen! Loved the reaction, it's great to watch your first experiences! :)
Yay, the time for WT has come finally! "Ice Queen" and "Mother Earth" from their "Black Symphony" concert are two gems that showcase (+ live is always better) Sharon's more "angelic" voice (as opposed to this song, which is also pretty cool)
My favorite symphonic metal bans are: within Temptation, Nightwish, Epica, Stream of Passion, the last one is very very good. Marcela Bovio is another goodes.
Finally WT 😁. I've seen them many times live and it was so great. Check out also the songs (video) from the last album Resist. " the Reckoning, Raise your banner". But any older ones is also fine by me.
You should watch their song The Promise, the live video from 11 years ago. It’s at Rock Werchter and she’s wearing a red dress. Imo when they were at their best, plus you’ll see how Sharon used to be on stage. Her hand movements will always be so iconic to me ☺️
The whole album that this song comes from: "The Unforgiving" is fantastic. One of the few albums I'll listen to on repeat without skipping a single song. Great if you're driving long distance or needing something to stay awake. :)
This is an amazing band with a massive list of various types of music, well worth a dive into. I suggest Stand My Ground if you want another powerful one.
Thank you...I knew you would like it...my favorite band n song......a demons fate ....is very nice....thank you bro ...you are only part of a couple reactors to give these guys a chance...they are great
Nice reaction guy, you should react to another great song from WT, It´s called ''The Promise (Black Symphony Live). That's the symphonic side from this band
Ooooh Within Temptation, eh? Let's see here...what else can you listen from them... Iron What Have You Done Where is the Edge Let Us Burn Dangerous ft. Howard Jones Paradise (What About Us) ft. Tarja The Whole World is Watching ft. Dave Pirner Frozen And a personal favorite; A Demon's Fate
@@PowerfulReactions, while I remember - if you like guitar solos... Have you heard Sonata Arctica? They are awesome - one of their songs: Don't say a word has a great el-guitar solo AND a Keytar solo (Keytar Roland AX 7) "stars in my eyes" :D I've been trying to get a hold of a Keytar like that
The bald guitarist with a beard, Robert, is her husband. They both created the band in 1996. They're huge live! Anything with them, it's all good! The Black Symphony concert with an orchestra is a must-see (I wish of something like that for Nightwish). They have a song with Tarja : Paradise (what about us?), awesome! Love the video of Angels and Memories. Love the album Unforgiving which is a concept, about a comics, each song is for a character of the comics.
Great Reaction to a fabulous band! This was one of their more "commercial" songs - you should check out some of their earlier stuff: "Angels", "Ice Queen", "What have you done now", maybe "Paradise (what about us?)" featuring Tarja (ex-Nightwish)....
Awesome reaction! Thank you for discovering Within Temptation! You will love them so much! Regarding your comment for the long guitar solos, I would really like to suggest you to react to Arch Enemy - War Eternal (female-fronted death metal band), and enjoy the awesome solo, together with the great lyrics and music! Cheers!
Within Temptation has existed for a very long time and their sound has evolved throughout the years. If you want their more symphonic side/roots look at their older songs. I recommend "The truth beneath the rose"ruclips.net/video/GcI4n1L0cs0/видео.html , "The promise, live" ruclips.net/video/wXQEjaVLxkk/видео.html , and "Ice Queen" to get a proper taste.
My favourite band of all time with probably the best working and overall best guitar solo is Evergrey with their song All I Have. This guitar soll is so amazing and there are 2 in it:)
this is one of my favorite bands of all time, one of the best live shows i've ever seen too. everybody will recommend a lot of their older, more traditional symphonic/gothic metal stuff, but if you want to hear the perfect blend of their old style with their new cinematic rock style i would recommend "raise your banner" off their newest album called the reckoning.
Like your reaction videos. :=) Regarding your question about the first Dutch band in this genre. That would be The Gathering, who started as a metal band but from 1994 with their female vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen became one of the forerunners of goth metal and inspiration to groups who took it a step further into full blown symphonic metal as Nightwish. Maybe I oversimplefy things here, but the importance of this group in the genre is overall acknowledged. They had several killer songs and albums from the nineteen nineties on. Van Giersbergen, who with great succes still performs and puts albums out, solo, with her band Vuur and is a much sought after collaberator with bands and artists such as Devin Townsend Project, Amorphis, Danny Cavanagh (Anathema). If you want a live performance from those early days you can consider: ruclips.net/video/1HUMwinV2AQ/видео.html Live at Pinkpop 1996. My favorite song of them is hard to pick, but would be Travel ruclips.net/video/ku9HgsC_r-k/видео.html (for the studio version with lyrics) and live for example ruclips.net/video/Y46Lft_BZxo/видео.html Standout albums for me were and are still Mandylion (1995), Nightime birds (1997) and How to measure a planet (1998). I have the vinyl and I charish them. Van Gierbergen left the group in 2007 and tours now (also ;=) with her band Vuur. Off topic. Another great Dutch band in the genre I see not mentionded here is Ex Libris. Lead vocalist is Dianne van Giersbergen (not related to Anneke van Giersbergen). She participated some time in German band Xandria. She followed as a vocalist the complete conservatorium education and for me has the most professional opera vocals of them all, Dutch and otherwsie. Could be that I am biased in this respect, because I am a great admirer of that band. ;=)
I think you'd also like 'A Shot in the Dark.' It has that 'pop' hit radio-play vibe while it too rocks out. 'Faster' was my intro to this group followed by 'Shot...'
Welcome to WT! They have older stuff which sounds more symphonic and amazing! I recommend Angels, The Truth Beneath the Rose, Hand of Sorrow and The Promise (All of them live in Black Symphony). You can also try Paradise (Duet with Tarja) and a cover of Running up that hill :)
If you like this band you might want to check out Delain. This band has the keyboard and the lead singer from within temptation which started their own band
Thats one of their trademarks: they hardly have any guitarsolos in their songs. Like in an other song named "The howling". My absolute favourite! Do you like Progressive? I recommend checking out Porcupine tree who are in between Pink Floyd, Rush, Dream theatre… Sooo underrated.
It echoes Wicked Game in parts (which is a great song) but this is one of my all time favourites from Within Temptation. Folks have already chucked some good suggestions, I would definitely suggest Angels and either Ice Queen or Mother Earth from the older work, Sharon has astonishing control in that higher register and, particularly with Ice Queen and Angels, she'll knock you sideways.
Well, Within Temptation started in 1996 and Epica in 2004. But I think all those bands started because of Nightwish more or less. Although Within Temptation was more of a gothic metal band at the beginning. I know Simone's (from Epica) idol is Tarja. I assume Sharon has Tarja as an inspiration too since they did a song together called Paradise. You can react to that too.
I’ve been listening to Within Temptation for over a decade now. Symphony Rock music and Progressive Metal, is definitely movie music, and Within Temptation is no exception. I can definitely picture this song in a movie. Maybe a superhero movie. You would think The Flash since Sharon says “Faster” but I always picture this song for “Ghost Rider.” They will eventually come out with another Ghost Rider movie, from what I heard, and Nicholas Cage won’t be returning to play the part again.
So 3rd amazing Dutch symphonic metal band is Delain. They are so epic also. Charlotte is so unique such a good singer. Check their songs Delain - Masters of Destiny Delain - Burning Bridges
The holy Trinity, Nightwish, Within Temptation and Epica! ( After Forever Floors Band 100%🤘🤘🤘The Gathering early days the best Doom Metal After with Annek matches any of the above, WT. Early Day's some Doomy Style ) Delain to pop for my taste! Theater of Tragedy, Sirenia...
I recommend you a mexican band: “The Warning” formes by 3 sisters who began being just little girls and covering Metallica in the Internet, now they are all grown up and are making their own music, they have 2 albums and a EP and are making a great hard rock music!!
Within temptation was first. They stayed in 1996 (same as nightwish), Epica started in 00s. Check out the promise, it’s amazing ruclips.net/video/3oB2x5-44Zo/видео.html and it’s a concert with full orchestra For slightly different, check out The other half of me ruclips.net/video/zVPEu13QYdY/видео.html it’s amazing example of beauty and the beast style
Within Temptation, Epica, After forever, The Gathering, VUUR are all progressive/symphonic metalbands with a female front singer and they are all Dutch. And all these singers participated on albums of Ayreon as did some other musicians from these bands. I just wrote this down and now you mention it that they are all Dutch 😜 For long guitar solos that matter, listen to Dream Theater. Oh, now I see that your previous reaction is about Dream Theater. Listen to the live album Breaking the fourth wall
She's such a good singer, fun fact, she was pregnant when making this video and the whole The Unforgiven album you can see she's got lose/bulky clothes like in Sinéad
Please react to the rest of the Nightwish album! Another Dutch symphonic metal band that I don’t think you’ve reacted to yet is Delain, you could do Burning Bridges or Masters of Destiny!
Sharon... my absolute fav. female vocalist for past 11 + years now.... bar none.. Angelina Jordan is the newbie coming up from behind as still a child!!!! Now in Second place. This album got away from Symphonic Metal and went to RETRO ROCK, 80s style. They change it up, but I loved the rich Symph metal years................. must cost a bunch !!!
interesting first listen to for this band, I agree it's more a rock sound. I've listened to Within Temptation for around a decade and to me I think of them as much more symphonic metal, maybe they're changing up their sound a bit? I'll have to check out their newer stuff. This is a great example of something more symphonic from them: (Mother Earth, live) ruclips.net/video/u5yyFrfR37I/видео.html
You mentioned Nightwish in the start. If you haven't already, I strongly urge you to check out Within Temptation feat. Tarja - Paradise. One of my favorites!! :)
I just Love Sharon, here's a "slightly" heavier suggestion: Within Temptation - Paradise (ft. Tarja Turunen the original singer of Nightwish). I'd pick either the original music video or Hellfest 2016 (if available with good audio).
My favorite "hit single" of Within Temptation is "Frozen" ( ruclips.net/video/IfLoCG1MLqI/видео.html ), really love that one. Else Sharon is no classical trained singer like Floor and Simone and isn't that versatile, but her unique style and voice is still so fantastic that she can also sing nearly everything and make it her own. For example her cover of "The Rose" is really great ( ruclips.net/video/LJR0JtIYMAI/видео.html ). And then there is also "Somewhere" her fantastic duett with Anneke ( ruclips.net/video/IR_mBh5mqok/видео.html ) Oh, and totally forgot to mention : Angels ( ruclips.net/video/4ifTjdKrTPw/видео.html ) ... big goosebumps at the end

That sounds very interesting, I'll check them out. Thanks man👍👌
@@PowerfulReactions Their song "Anesthetize" (live from Tilburg) is absolutely a gem of a song… sadly it's 17mins... Though: it never feels that long.
Both within temptation and nightwish stared in the same year, 1996 without knowing about each other.
Sharon has a great crystal clear voice... She's one of my favorite...
Within Temptation Somewhere with Anneke. Known as the best duet ever !! It's a ballad from Within Temptation. It should be on yours Bucket List !!
Das komplette Album "The Unforgiving" ist ein absolutes Meisterwerk. Sehr abwechslungsreich und voller Power!
Check their songs
Delain - Masters of Destiny
Delain - Burning Bridges
The holy Trinity, Nightwish, Within Temptation and Epica! ( After Forever Floors Band 100%🤘🤘🤘The Gathering early days the best Doom Metal After with Annek matches any of the above, WT. Early Day's some Doomy Style ) Delain to pop for my taste! Theater of Tragedy, Sirenia...
The Duchies rock ofcourse! 🤘😊
in this video she is pregnant... Sharon den Adel is the goddess of all!!!
I recommend you hear "the reckoning" from the last album
For something harder, check out The Reckoning or Raise your Banner, and for something more symphonic try Angels or Memories.
I recommend you a mexican band: “The Warning” formes by 3 sisters who began being just little girls and covering Metallica in the Internet, now they are all grown up and are making their own music, they have 2 albums and a EP and are making a great hard rock music!!
Perfecto. Gracias Jorge.
Within temptation was first. They stayed in 1996 (same as nightwish), Epica started in 00s.
Check out the promise, it’s amazing ruclips.net/video/3oB2x5-44Zo/видео.html and it’s a concert with full orchestra
For slightly different, check out
The other half of me ruclips.net/video/zVPEu13QYdY/видео.html it’s amazing example of beauty and the beast style
Awesome Kate, will do.
Within Temptation, Epica, After forever, The Gathering, VUUR are all progressive/symphonic metalbands with a female front singer and they are all Dutch.
And all these singers participated on albums of Ayreon as did some other musicians from these bands.
I just wrote this down and now you mention it that they are all Dutch 😜
For long guitar solos that matter, listen to Dream Theater.
@Powerful Reactions Try Kamelot- Liar Liar there you will hear male voice from Scandinavia :D
You might recognize one of their biggest hits Ice Queen, please check it out.
the most amazing fact, I've been told she is a autodidact, wow
and makes her own dresses!
Sharon... my absolute fav. female vocalist for past 11 + years now.... bar none.. Angelina Jordan is the newbie coming up from behind as still a child!!!! Now in Second place.
This album got away from Symphonic Metal and went to RETRO ROCK, 80s style. They change it up, but I loved the rich Symph metal years................. must cost a bunch !!!
React to Stand My Ground ❤️
You should listen to Helloween to see what is long solos well balanced with the song.
✔ 👍
WT is an awesome band!
react to the videos of The Reckoning, Raise Your Banner and Paradise (feat. Tarja)
Sharon den Adel ❤️🤘
interesting first listen to for this band, I agree it's more a rock sound. I've listened to Within Temptation for around a decade and to me I think of them as much more symphonic metal, maybe they're changing up their sound a bit? I'll have to check out their newer stuff.
This is a great example of something more symphonic from them: (Mother Earth, live)
ruclips.net/video/u5yyFrfR37I/видео.html
yes and also from the Netherlands
👌
Had to come back to add: 'Long guitar solos'...only Skynyrd and Floyd can pull it off. lol
😂👌👍
The first was The Gathering with Anneke van Giersbergen
After that Within Temptation
After Forever
Épica and Delain
Finally the biggest band of Holland. Check out black symphony mother
Earth live
I get your "Pop" comparison. I'm not big on Pop, but I do dig a great hook, and this song is SUPER hooky
You mentioned Nightwish in the start. If you haven't already, I strongly urge you to check out Within Temptation feat. Tarja - Paradise. One of my favorites!! :)
Within Temptation war zuerst da (1996 gegründet, fast zeitgleich mit Nightwish). Epica kam erst 2003.
This entire album is AWESOME 😎
I highly recommend Dangerous 🤘
I just Love Sharon, here's a "slightly" heavier suggestion: Within Temptation - Paradise (ft. Tarja Turunen the original singer of Nightwish). I'd pick either the original music video or Hellfest 2016 (if available with good audio).
Weren't they drunk during the live version? Oh, well, it was a festival after all... :)
Ancient bards - through my vein
Gute Wahl🤩👍👍👍
Lacuna Coil wären auch was oder eben Folkmetal Eluveitie☝️🤟🤟💋
👌👍
My favorite "hit single" of Within Temptation is "Frozen" ( ruclips.net/video/IfLoCG1MLqI/видео.html ), really love that one. Else Sharon is no classical trained singer like Floor and Simone and isn't that versatile, but her unique style and voice is still so fantastic that she can also sing nearly everything and make it her own.
For example her cover of "The Rose" is really great ( ruclips.net/video/LJR0JtIYMAI/видео.html ).
And then there is also "Somewhere" her fantastic duett with Anneke ( ruclips.net/video/IR_mBh5mqok/видео.html )
Oh, and totally forgot to mention : Angels ( ruclips.net/video/4ifTjdKrTPw/видео.html ) ... big goosebumps at the end
Never new she did a cover of Bette Midler. I have just listened. Thanks for the link.
Check out Anouk jerusalem live at Pinkpop 2009
Ok... Now you're starting to know WT, right?
Listen to Silver Moonlight
I think you'll enjoy it.
Angels, Paradise feat Tarja,
Hi Power-Long guitar solos? Only (David Gilmore - Comfortably Numb Live in Pompeii 2016)❤amazing performance - ever❤
🤘👌😎
Visions Of Atlantis are another great band, Return To Lemuria & Nothing Lasts Forever are some of their best🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Within Temptation - All I Need Live.
