Ok, what you said was right in one way but wrong in another. The whole point in VTEC is to be economical at lower rpm but have performance at higher rpm. So actually vtec does add power at higher rpm because the intake valves open further, therefore letting more air in, increasing air/fuel ratio and increasing engine power. A conventional 2litre petrol engine produces approx 135bhp; a 2litre VTEC (K20A) produces 200bhp; thats a lot more power!
@HalfBreedMix Also, then you can say, damn they got that much out of that little engine, Wonder how many RPMs till it blows. Cause, the more you squeeze out of a small engine, the less time it will run.
@HalfBreedMix I think their jealousy comes from the fact that we Honda guys can extract HUGE amounts of power out of a VERY small engine. While maintaining 30 miles per gallon. Even a stock CTR or ITR motor makes the same power a Camaro engine did not ten years before( IROC anyone?) To get the same amount of power out of a muscle car requires a HUGE loss in fuel economy and everyday driveability.
Simple, they feel threatened. Why else would they spit all that venom? IF Vtec really did suck, nobody would really have to make fun of it; it would be common knowledge. It all comes down to "Holy crap, they were able to get all that out of that small motor? Damnnnnnn, won't be long before one of those gives my _________ a run for its money. I better start bad mouthing Hondas, that way my car will seem better by contrast."
This guy is right. The previous one doesn't know what he is talking about.

only in need for speed. hate to burst the ricer vtec bubble.
sounded great until the fart can came into play. Valve lift is awesome!
@irishdrifter2k9 There is no difference inbetween Irish and American Vtec's
