HI everyone! Thanks for coming by and checking out my video! I hope you enjoyed it.
Welcome to “Son of Buck” This is a music reaction channel. My dad was called BUCK, a nickname given to him by my granddad. I am a Texas LEO, retired US Marine, Husband, Dad and Pawpaw. I have two daughters and two granddaughters. I love all types of music. I grew up in the 60’s and the 70’s, listening to mainly southern rock and country music. If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next. When the river runs dry
Love Hunters!! When the River runs Dry is my all time favourite!! Have seen them live a few times, always sounded brilliant!!
What many Americans call Indie Rock that comes from Australia ( 'Straya) we called Pub Rock because that is where many of these musicians gained experience and honed their skills. If they weren't any good the Pub crowds would have let them know for certain. Aahh good times.....
Great request 😊 and thanks Mike . You know you’ve made a lot of ausssies proud that we can show off our music from our growing up years or special moments that these songs take us all back to. And you get it , cowboy 🤠 hats off to ya mate 😊 . Not that any of us has really grown up btw 😂
My pleasure!!
Bunch of big kids😂😅
@@briangill4000Hands up! My brain feels like I’m still a kid. In an old lady’s body. 😂❤
I loooove this song. One of the great Aussie songs
I think you should understand that we love the old dude from Texas...
As a rule, I don't like cops. I mean who does? But Buck's son I would buy a beer.
"Holy grail" official video has always been my FAV Hunters and Collectors song just brilliant. So much more up beat and just brilliant. Should take a listen. Loveing this channel🤗🎉
Explore more of these boys. Say goodbye is a great number.
Another Aussie classic! In terms of genre, it probably best fits under "Classic Aussie Pub Rock", a unique category that covers a wide variety of bands and sounds. The basic test for whether a song is Pub Rock is, "would it be found in the jukebox (or karaoke machine, or cover band set list) at an Australian pub or club?"
... and to a very different version eight months ago, New Years Eve 2023 at Sydney Opera House on the Harbour, same song Mark dedicated it to his mother and sang it with his daughter. Fantastic!
I suggest "When the river runs dry", "Blind Eye", "January Rain", or "This Morning". Another very good live band.
love this song , always crank it up around the barby
Throughly enjoying your reactions! Well done 😊
There is something in the timbre of the lead singer Mark Seymour's,vocals in this song that brings out a yearning , a longing in me. He wrote this song about his mother. 'The Holy Grail', is another good song from them.
I agree. Mark is incredibly sexy. The look, the presence, the voice. In this clip he reminds me a bit of Joe Strummer. I always thought he was sexy too. And he had a similar ‘longing’ in his voice and style. ❤️🇦🇺👍
@@turdferguson400 Hmm. I wasn't meaning sexy. I was meaning an existential longing or yearning. Oops -- I'll have to watch my wording in future !😂
Pretty sure "the beautiful girl 👧 ", is one of his daughters
I'll never understand why people have to assign a genre to one song when they have no idea about the band. I first saw H&C in 1985 at the Sunderland hotel in Sydney and the first song they played was "Say Goodbye", I'd never seen a pub rock band with a french horn in their brass. needless to say I was hooked.
Love me some Hunters, I too am a sucker for at band with a Brass section.
Besides the US being very closed and only promoting their own, the next biggest reason Aussie bands never found much success in the US, was because they couldn't be shoehorned into a Genre, and the radio stations, gigs, concerts, bars, and festivals, were genre based.
Australia is unique in that the bands and singers have a small audience to capture, and they had to do it live in pubs. That means they had to appeal to everyone so they either mixed genres in the songs, or at least across their sets.
If you weren't keen on one song on the night, you used that time to go and grab a drink and by the time you came back 'your' music was playing again.
If you didn't like the start of a song, you could probably still hum the tune or sing the chorus, if not ignore it and tune back in again in a couple of minutes.
I loved Hunters and Collectors as a teenager. They are so Awesome!! Thankyou for this!!
H&C are great, sort of always getting played on radio, tv commercials and big wvents like the AFL Grand Final! I love their music, but never really go out of my way to listen to them, bit always enjoy them when I hear them.
Fun Fact: Mark Seymour is the brother of Crowded House's bassist, Nick Seymour.
H&C are like the cousins that your Parents don't talk about, but the kids make sure that we hang out with because they are cool.
I hope you get a chance to hear their Folio. It is special 1
Cheers, Mike. ❤️🇦🇺👍
Ohh what a blast from the past! Simple with beautiful harmonies. Thank you to whoever requested this.
You’re very welcome. ❤🇦🇺👍
This song while being one of their most popular songs is not indicative of their sound. I would suggest “Say Goodbye “ but there are many more that show their true genre of Aussie pub rock.
Great band, will see more for sure.
Should play the holy grail from hunters and collectors- thats our football afl grand final songs
Pop I suppose. It's mellow. It took over the country for a while just as a vibe. The chorus is pretty catchy.
Another great reaction Mike…saw them a few times at the espy in st kilda
Oh man, that's awesome! Get into the H & C rabbit hole...
Watched these at the North vs Adelaide pre season GF in 1995? North won as well 😀
I love this song.
aussie music has its own genre its called aussie pub rock
I think the girl that waved at the camera is now his wife
When the River Runs Dry: best Hunter’s and Collector’s song ever. You’re welcome.
Another great Aussie band that have enhanced my life here Down undah.
Thanks mate,bloody great!.
Z.👍
Mark Seymore released a new album a few months back , great late 80's early 90's Band
Ok now you have to listen to the cover buy Paul McDermott and the Doug Anthony All Stars it is and some of us say it’s better than the original
Mark Seymour doing this song 🎵 solo is much better
Next: The Holy Grail
this was one of my least favorite H&C song. Mark, the singer, is the older brother to Nick, the bassist for Crowded House
Why dont YOU buy ME a coffee??? You get your cop pay PLUS you r u tube pay.Every time i watch one of your reactions YOU earn MONEY, I LIKE YOU but I find it offensive that you ask for MONEY when u got a job!
Henri Hater…he doesn’t make $ from reaction videos (because of copyright)…he’s doing this for the love of discovering new music, and us Aussies are LOVING him listening to the music that shaped our lives ❤
