The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply is gearing up to replace its existing fleet of Bharat Stage 3 Diesel Double Decker Buses with modern Electric ones. Over the years, Ashok Leyland has been a trustworthy manufacturer of Single & Double Decker Buses for BEST, and Switch Mobility looks forward to continuing the legacy. Switch Mobility launched India's first Electric Double Decker in August 2022 & the first bus with BEST entered service in February 2023. The order comprises 200 Double Deckers allotted to four Depots. Colaba happens to be the first to procure new buses & as of June 2023, has 12 Buses in service. Currently, the Electric Double Decker Bus is serving on route A138 between CSMT and Backbay Depot. Some buses are reserved for Heritage Sightseeing Tours covering Gateway of India, Marine Drive & Fort area. The Heritage Tour attracts good revenue to the Undertaking, especially in Holiday Season when there is a heavy demand for these services.
The journey covered in this video was done on 29th June 2023 (you can also see it on the ticket). Nearly 8 Electric Double Decker Buses were deployed on route A138, which was worth a shot since the bus stop was not crowded when I reached CSMT. The video begins with Bus reversing after a breather & ends with the same bus coming out of Backbay Depot in heavy rains. Since it was raining, the temperature inside was set to 23°C. Did not talk onboard to ensure no one is disturbed.

Thank You Very Much 😃
great
Even I have gone in this bus, on A-116 :)
Yes. With 14 in service, these bus are used on Gateway Route as well.
@@GPTD and haven't 12 more been received at colaba?
@@PhoenixAviation006 yes. Undergoing registration process at the RTO. Will enter service soon.
These buses should replace all buses for a city like Mumbai.
Indeed. But they lack in range. Hopefully future ones will be better
But bus looking little smaller 🤔
Length is just 10.5m
That's why looks small as compared to Single Deck Buses that are 12m
