Nice one Derek. always good to see people put this stuff out so that new people can get a bit more functionality out of Blender straight away, but yeah Blender is awesome and so configurable. love your work man!
I'm so lucky i found your channel. I'm just starting learning blender for uni exams and it's a blessing, really! Thank you so much big hug from Italy :)
I was going crazy over setting render setting ngs all the time. I made an addon so I can save preset for all the setting per engine. This helps a lot and is big time saver
no matter which version of blender you use or what OS you use it on, you can save your blender setups as defaults for the type of thing you are doing in separate files and load them when you need them or drag and drop them into the blender version start up config, so i have ones for EEVEE or Cylcles or Luxcore etc and you just load them and save as something else along with your default preferences.
The add-on at 19:16 may not be necassary? I could be wrong but I think you can purge unused materials through blender without the addon. Go to File> Clean Up> Unused Data Blocks @Derek Elliot Lemme know if it works :D
Omg, I've been getting used to Blender coming from Cinema 4D and this is something I should have done first! I went with the mindset "let's get used to the way Blender wants me to work", but this whole video makes 100% sense and thank you for making me go in and change it :) I even have the MX mouse, so I'll copy your whole video. Thanks!
always use Blender as is for tutorials and getting to know it straight away and yeh then start making user experience your own, its so good like that. Way better than any other software i have used including Cinema4D :O) Happy Blendering!
@@GaryParris Oh absolutely, I'm stunned with how polished the whole package is. And fast. And Cinema 4D is pretty expensive. I feel so good buying stuff on Blendermarket to support it. The only thing I really miss is a real IPR window. Cycles preview doesn't show exactly what it will look like when rendered.
@@lukastemberger support is great to do i do with the bllender foundation. Hey man... I really love your work. Congratulations!! I have a question, can you tell what is your pc? Graphic card, etc... and you use your pc to render or use a cloud render farm? thanks a lot for share!
I use my extra mouse button as middle-click. Then I don't wear out my fingers pressing the mouse wheel. If I had two buttons, I'd definitely map the second to your suggestion.
Thank you for sharing your holy secret Derek! Quick tip for not always redo all the settings when a new version of Blender comes out -> use Steam to start up blender. Steam will automatically update Blender and also imports ALL settings. It also tracks the time you've "played" blender ;) Edit: Btw, I also save the startup file after a change in the settings. So when I have to work on another PC, I have access to my default scene with all the settings

Hey Derek. I have a video suggest. Would be a great idea if you can explain us via blender (idk, doing some stuff or maybe just chatting while working) how to think of a budget to clients for 3D Designers. I want to be a 3D lancer in some point and i think your words are very valuable! Thanks.

How did you get the testing button in the Add-Ons tab?
I will sh they finally add the option that edit quick favorites. It was said in th beginning of 2.8 release that it would come. It's still not there.

2080ti has 7.1 compute capability but in your blender it is showing no supported with optix why?
i am able to use optix with my 1650super
9:10 You got two RTX 2080 Ti's but the 'Optix" option shows "No compatible GPUs found for Cycles"??? What's going on there? 😕
Idk actually need to look in to that
Render settings are saved per scene. You probably had set it to GPU earlier and saved as a default file
you can get around this by saving default files you can load in with their render settings and then save as, before you start working on them
HI Derek, can you make a Render Settings tutorial? for producft animation
Yeah what kind of things are you interested in?
