pH is very important. I was bedridden for 7 yrs without awareness of dental hygiene. Before that, I hadn’t had a cavity since high school, had a very nice smile, and had checkups religiously every six months with no problems. When I woke up I noticed my teeth were a mess, and now that I’m working with several dental professionals, I’m on my way back toward good hygiene. My pH was off the charts, and my meds and diet were the cause of dozens of cavities, some on top of each other! Please heed Whitney’s sound advice and have your pH tested to avoid unnecessary cavities!

TheraBreath mouthwash - specifically Mild Mint - has a pH of 8.5+ , plus it contains Xylitol. I highly recommend this to use after eating or before brushing to make sure your teeth/mouth/enamel are not acidic.
It does not have flouride so I wouldn't use after brushing though but great to neutralize acids and for fresh breath.

      Since blood is pH7.4
I'm thinking saliva should try to hit that

@@kathleenking47it does but to slow, your saliva takes about an hour to get ph back to base level.. Damage has started. Over the years decay.. No amount of brushing flossing stops that

You speak English very well. Your pronunciation is accurate so I like listening to your English as a foreign language study. I am a Korean. I eat Kim-Chi. Problem of Kim-chi is when it's fermented, it's PH goes higher rapidly, became hardly enjoyable. Some people love to eat fermented Kim-chi but I learned from my experience it hurts my teeth and stomachs. Actually very high rate of gastric cancer incidence in Korea are related with salty food like Kim-chi. So in my personal opinion, salty and fermented food is the worst food, as bad as hightly processed food.

For the last 2 years, I’ve been the keto diet (with plans to transition onto the Mediterranean diet when I’ve moved into my new apartment) so a lot of the cavity foods are naturally prohibited such as cookies, bread etc.
I’ve also recently cut out energy drinks and fizzy drinks and started to drink more water (the drinks I used to drink were diet ones anyway as I hate sugary drinks).
I don’t drink alcohol or eat junk food (unless at Christmas, on my birthday or special occasions such as cosplay conventions or weddings).

None of this stuff actually works except the xylitol. I know because almost every tooth in my mouth has a root canal and I've have 4 implants and am getting two more done. It all started in my early 20s. I didn't know what was the cause, just the bacteria in my mouth was a problem. By mid twenties, I had my first root canal. From then onwards, no matter how much I brushed, I couldn't stop the tooth decay. I would have about 1-2 root canals every year. Eventually, these fail and then you move onto implants. No dentist ever told me about xylitol back then so I didn't know how to combat it. I only found out about a year ago - I'm now almost 50. I started taking xylitol mints. I'd take them after eating anything. I went to the dentist about 6 months ago and for the first time in as long as I can remember, he said the tooth decay had stopped and I had no new issues. I could not believe it. I started doing research and came across a video of a dentist who said that there was a study back in the 80s done of small children who were given xylitol before teething and virtually all of them had no dental problems for their adult lives. It makes me mad that this knowledge isn't more widely known as this would have made a huge difference to my life. Anyway, I thought I'd pass what I know along to others. Tooth decay isn't caused by a lack of brushing - it's caused by the bacteria in your mouth that make your mouth acidic. It doesn't matter how much brushing you do if you aren't doing something to combat that problem. The only thing I've found that works so far for me is the xylitol.

Carifree is what I use! You have to get it online but it's worth it. My hygienist recommended it to me. I have been using it for about three months now and my hygienist was really impressed with how much it's helped my gums (my pockets went down from 4s and 5s to 3s and 2s! I can't remember the last time I had 2s). It also has xylitol which is good for your teeth.
