My youngest sister, now 10 years old developed vitiligo when she was 5. it's growing and becoming more and more noticeable since we are from Pakistan and have a brown skin tone. I have always treated her and made her feel that it's no problem. But my mom is not there yet, she still prays; thinks it's a disease that will go away if she prays harder for my sister...I try to talk to mom and make her understand...but you know it's hard to sometimes make parents change their mind...this video is so special to me. i cant even express...I am gona show this video to my mom :)

Through this video, we have discovered that the worrying white patches that have appeared on my Husband hands are vitiligo! I also have to say how I am always amazed at the superb tips I learn from each and every one of your tutorials Lisa. I had assumed that "heavy" specialised foundations and concealers would be used. However with your artistry and Jemma's flawless skin, the vitiligo vanished in a soft veil of Armani!???!! l use the Luminous Silk foundation daily and will now practise using it as a concealer too. I have to admit hitting the pause button so many times just to freeze the vision of the angelic, mesmeric Jemma in her bridal glow! STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to thank Jemma for showing herself barefaced even though she felt uneasy about it, and Lisa for being so classy and not assuming her model would want to completely erase all evidence of skin discoloration. I have vitiligo too, (mine started 20 years ago) but I think of myself as fortunate because as far as skin conditions go, I feel this one is of less relative impact on one's quality of life. For those who are unfamiliar with it: vitiligo doesn't hurt or itch and it's not contagious. Its causes are unknown, and as of now, does not have a cure. For many, however, developing vitiligo is a blow to their self-esteem so it's important to see people like Jemma, model Winnie Harlow, and blogger Ash Soto (who uses her skin patches as canvas for body art) embracing their uniqueness and beauty rather than hiding away. Jemma, if you see this, I wanted to tell you my daughter has vitiligo. She was four when it showed up. The best thing we have found to help her face is keeping sunscreen on it. Also, some psoriasis meds have evened out the patches on her face and body. So far, since the initial occurance, we've been able ro keep it off her face now. At first, she had a large spot by her mouth into her lips and large patch around her forehead. If you don't already know, try to limit sun exposure.

Any time anyone says makeup is superficial, I like to direct them to Lisa's videos to see her artistry. Besides her passion and talent, you can tell she is just so knowledgeable about makeup, application, the composition of the products, texture and colour. You never fail to impress us ❤️ I was happy to see the model showing her illness and talk about it, i have Psoriasis Vulgaris on my back and in my wedding i wanted this really simple backless dress.. i had to come up with foundation mixtures and liquid bronzers then to plot everything with a heavy powder to hide it.. it was so hard as it came out from stress and it gets worse with stress.. brave beautiful model though! ❤️ Can you please do another video for psoriasis ?! There's a whole community desperately needing help in covering those embarrassing patches 😞

Jemma, if you see this, I wanted to tell you my daughter has vitiligo. She was four when it showed up. The best thing we have found to help her face is keeping sunscreen on it. Also, some psoriasis meds have evened out the patches on her face and body. So far, since the initial occurance, we've been able ro keep it off her face now. At first, she had a large spot by her mouth into her lips and large patch around her forehead. If you don't already know, try to limit sun exposure.

Amazing and classy makeup from a very classy, warm and likeable lady! Thumbs up to the bride who was brave enough to be so vulnerable and to share her vitiligo without makeup on the internet. And this is where we get to see Lisa's mastery. Not to take away from any talented beauty bloggers, but it is one thing to produce an on trend look and another to really know your craft. Any time anyone says makeup is superficial, I like to direct them to Lisa's videos to see her artistry. Besides her passion and talent, you can tell she is just so knowledgeable about makeup, application, the composition of the products, texture and colour. When she applies makeup she is thoughtful with her application and looks like she is painting, as opposed to pulling at the skin and slathering a plethora of makeup on.

I was happy to see the model showing her illness and talk about it, i have Psoriasis Vulgaris on my back and in my wedding i wanted this really simple backless dress.. i had to come up with foundation mixtures and liquid bronzers then to plot everything with a heavy powder to hide it.. it was so hard as it came out from stress and it gets worse with stress..

I actually cried with this video. When Lisa complimented Jemma on her skin's radiance and how her taking care of it really paid off, I wept. It must be so nice to hear a professional compliment your skin, particularly when you battle a condition like vitiligo and take such prodigious care. Brava Jemma - you are stunning and your style is impeccable, and brava Lisa for treating your models and clients with such respect, kindness, and love.
ETA: Also have to say, my goodness, both looks are stunning, but I was truly blown away by the "Western" look - so elegant and dramatic and sophisticated - a kind of jazz age vibe. Such a nice change of pace from the pale pastel rose you see so often from brides!

Since I've wanted to be a makeup artist - around when I started watching you - I've had the philosophy that I should prepare for ANY client. I learned this from you. I'm soooo happy to see you continuing this years later. I've watched all your videos and bought your book, but these videos are why I respect you so much. That your craft is important to help her rather than making money, even. though you're incredibly successful.
Jemma is an incredibly naturally beautiful woman, and the vitiligo does not take away from it at all. But I get her being self-conscious about it. I have it on my knee, and judging from my older brother, I will soon get it over my face too.
