Growing up watching Ralph Waite on the Waltons, gave me a template for the father I wanted to be in the future. Now as a grandfather, I see he still embodies that roll model as father, grandfather and great grandfather. And most of all a loving husband. Thank you Mr. Waite!
I met Ralph in the early 2000's... he was incredibly kind. I've always been a huge fan, but meeting the real man boosted my admiration a hundredfold. He opened up about his personal life when he spoke, talking about his demons- he was very humble. After his talk I had hoped to shake his hand, thank him for his work- but the driver was there waiting on him and security had asked me to leave the area as he was escorted out by the venue staff. He must have heard the interaction because he went out of his way to stop and talk to me, took a photo with me and talked for a long while, telling me about upcoming projects that he was working on and treated me as if I were an old friend. If that weren't enough, I had looked up an address and sent him a thank you card for taking that time out for me, and he wrote me a really nice letter and sent me a signed photograph!
Kindness, compassion, courage, wisdom, humor, hope, faith, love, friendship, family, patience, innocence, dignity, gratitude..... all these fine human/humane qualities that we all need to see examples of, so beautifully portrayed in this film. Thank you to all who worked on this production. Thank you very much!
Well written and directed. Excellent performance by the lead actors. Retired but not expired. I'll remember that as father time begins to whisper my name.
I had some nurse talk to my uncle like he was a preschool boy. I said " The man before you ran the Boston Marathon, served in combat and worked as a Nuclear Engineer...as well as NASA. He is a hell of a funny guy and very articulate if you have time to listen. He has great stories. Ask him about his meds."
I worked with old people for 20 years. They are all wonderful. Each one of them could have a short movie like this. I have so many stories of the most beautiful people that I hate approving of taking care of. I wish somehow I could tell all these wonderful stories. Little miss Helen 98 years old wanted to play Old Maid with me. Or Cora always smiling with her cute little pink sweater never quite knowing which way lunch was. Wonderful Henry World War II veteran that have an eye for the ladies. and Mr Seeley Pearl Harbor Survivor with some of the greatest stories I ever heard. Each story was a teardrop rolling down his cheek. The appreciated every crumb of food. They did not get me are home health aide each day. I got them they helped me more than I could ever give to them. The generation of the early 1900 are some of this world best rubies. I feel like I was born in the wrong time. I am drawn to The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, Wagon Train, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Rifleman, rawhide, High Chaparral. People that I know are so similar to peoples of the past. And when they tell me the story that hurt them it gives them such a sense of belonging tell me their story. in my mind are the most wonderful stories and movies anybody could imagine. I could never replace anything of value in trade for what I have have the pleasure I've seen hearing or spending time with people just like Ralph! I am losing my family so I try to find somebody grandma's and grandpa's as I can. I don't know who needs the love more them or me.? All I know is when you have the gift of loving and caring and you do nothing with it it's like fresh baked loaf of bread from someone's grandmother it took her all day I'm never eating it. Letting it get moldy. Do something nice in the memory of Ralph wait his life was not easy. A Preacher Man. The Man Who Lost His Daughter. nearly killed him but it's nice to see that he did move on. People judge about anyone that's hurting and how they ease their pain. They should see with the eyes of their heart got a sitting on their brain. Watching from Rochester New York only a sinner saved by grace that loves giving back to the world. Love one another! He said and he gave his life for us 2020 years the Christ man Jesus. if he lives in you he will work through you. If you let him. People say I don't know how you do the work that you do. I think to myself oh, I don't know how anybody can not do the work I do. My memories are such a Bittersweet for people that I hope one day again I'll meet
Mr. Waite was such an authentic, marvelous person. His deep goodness shines through his acting from the independent, caring father in the Waltons and in NCIS. He was a real gift to us. If only we could elect leaders to reflect our basic goodness and not exploit fear.
Love Ralph especially on the Walton's .he truly is missed, one of the best. He was full of kindness and compassion , caring . Loving man 😢. I cried watching this
This is a nice picture, I always liked Ralph Waite. But if most old people were like him then there wouldn't be any problem with being their friend and taking long lunches just to spend time with them. The reality is that a lot of times, when people get old, they aren't quite the parents we once knew anymore, and that can be difficult. A film that dealt realistically with this stuff would probably be very hard to watch, like the senior citizen scenes of "The Notebook" which I had to turn off.
I wouldn't want to watch the Notebook. I'd probably like the old people scenes the best. I've had old people in my life who I loved but who are dead now. Too many young people on RUclips are jerks. They say mean things to middle aged and old people and tell them they are "old".
@@susanb2015 I am a 63 year old man but do not feel my age. I have been told I am old, but then again I have a few young friends that understand me in my old age. In fact I hired one to mow my big yard, he pays attention to the details that I passed on to him, kind of like a son to me. When I told him I was going to do the yard he protested because of the heat here in Phoenix. He felt really bad about cancelling that day and I knew it, it bonded our relationship a bit more. Most people offer respect and are careful of what they say, I still have my humor and mobility. This short movie caught me off guard because my own Mom suffered with Alzheimer's before she passed. Of course Rachel caught my attention with her beauty and her treatment of Ralph. The treatment she offered was sincere, not just a product of the film. Both characters made the movie. It is true not many people want to hang out with an older person, but then sometimes us older persons feel the same hanging out with the younger people. I caught a lesson from this movie, and from real life as well. You are only as old as you feel, treat yourself good, put the concern of others before yourself. All of this is written in the Bible, funny how life goes easier if you apply the Biblical principals to your life. Another person that commented about this movie: Maryann Zakshevsky said it all!!! I am one of those that watched the Walton's as a child and young adult, this simply carries it on!! Yes a person up in age can still learn if they choose to do so!!! I have saved this video to watch and remind myself on how I should conduct myself!!!
@@GM8101PHX I like my teen children but that is all. And I feel old because I am and I look hideous. My grandpa who had been a WW 1 deep sea diver and very proud of it warned me not to get old. I tried Popa!
If everyone refused to spend time with old people bc it hurt to watch, what kind of life would they have? It wasn't always a joy for parents to deal with us, it was often very painful & took all they had but they loved us through it. Knowing them, having that time with old people is worth it. Imagine how life would be for you in their place.
1 Corinthians 13 verse 4 to 7: Love suffer long & is kind; love does not parade itself, it is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoke, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
THIS IS FILMED IN MY HOME TOWN. WHEN I SAW BAXTER VILLAGE I WAS SHOCKED!!! I used to hang out there in high school often with friends. What are the odds lol
I know it isnt possible. but. i wish the cast were the cast from the waltons. it would have been a bigger hit. a much bigger hit. We can't always get what we want.

Bendigedig !!!!
John Walton Sr.!
This his real granddaughter?? He looks like he's in pain. I loved him in The Waltons. He's was such a nice man. ❤️
What. DID RALPH. DIE FROM
Eileen Mclaughlin No idea. According to a Internet web, it just said “natural causes “.
I'm glad they did NOT make the son to be a obnoxious person that would have been overly 'cliché'
👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾💙👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾💙👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾💙👏🏾👏🏼👏🏽
