    She is so overprotective that she purposefully tried to stunt him, and worse she partly succeeded. She wanted to keep him helpless so he won't try to help anyone. This is actually a very common type of abuse especially from mothers.

      @@Red-ux2ff I'm an adult now with my own son and the rest of my family is aware of what she does. I go to them and talk about it and they basically scold her to stop. And she still treats me like a child from time to time and would say "I can't do anything right" BUT she still goes and asks me to do stuff for her. She says I talk shit to my brother and sister about her but I tell her "If you don't want me talking shit about you then stop acting like shit" a few days ago I actually yelled at her "you're a real dumb piece of shit you know that".
      I feel like I matured enough to make better decisions then she can. I actually remember when I got Strep throat she said the only way to cure it is by taking a QTip and scraping off the white puss areas and then gargling lots of water. Then she sent me back to school and that was it.
      I did not learn that there was pills that cured Strep throat until I was like maybe 14 or 15 years old. I always thought it was strange why I kept getting Strep throat but my siblings never did. My mom says it's because I don't brush my teeth enough and I'm dirty.
      I stopped asking my mom for help or advice and started to depend on my older brother, Aunt, or grandfather after that.
      But I'm an adult now and that was in the past. I'm 30 years old.

    I just recently read these chapters and I automatically got a weitd vibe from her. Yes she is definitely a mom trope for manga but most of her words didn't seem like a joke. She just kept dissing Kouichi every time she talked about him; even kept asking Makoto to join the family to replace Kouichi. I'm all for family using dark humor to joke with each other but I didnt get that feeling from her.
    she admited to constantly slapping a baby who was floating in the air. Now I'm not an expert on parenting nor do I like children but I'm sure that's not something you should do to a baby.
    She may have good intentions but I also feel like her actions had a big impact on Kouichi's mind set. Not only his quirk but his personality/attitude as well. He's a pretty laid back guy who doesnt get angry often. He takes hate and beatings daily and doesn't get mad but if a friend or someone he liked was talked about it on the other end of that fist he'd get upset. For example when Captqin celebrity was hating on All Might and signed Kouichi's all might hoodie. Even at the mixer Kouichi didn't know how to fit in so he just laughed politely keeping to himself the first half of the night.

    I mean honestly the trope of women hitting the guys in anime isn't funny at all unless the guy deserved it like trying to perv on her or something. No one should be putting their hands on anyone regardless of gender or age. Parents shouldn't be slapping their kids around, kids shouldn't be trying to hit their parents, friends shouldn't be punching or kicking one another, boyfriends shouldn't be hurting girlfriends and vice versa and same for other relationships. Its played for laughs but in reality its extremely fucked up, especially since at times the guy gets hit for nothing. I remember one anime where the guy would get beat up for complete misunderstandings, I think the anime was Love Hina. Also recall seeing a moment of Inyuasha where because he wanted chips over Kagome's cooking, she abused the necklace around him to constantly slam him into the ground and was happy when the necklace was back on him just so she could continue to have that ability. Its played for laughs but its actually rather fucked up and abusive. The easiest way to see it as fucked up is just think of the reverse. Imagine Inyuasha yelling 'sit girl' and slamming Kagome's face into the ground, that goes from comedy to straight up horror even though in canon the same thing happens except reversed. That trope needs to die and I hope Vigilantes actually does call out her abusive behavior because it annoyed me seeing those panels and I hope the series didn't treat a mother slapping the shit out of her infant son as a joke. I already have seen mothers scream and yell at their children like aggressive, abusive cunts so this kind of thing annoys me.

    • @vladimircain
      @vladimircain 4 года назад +17

      Totally agree. I don't think it's funny at all and people would have a problem with it if it was the female being hit. I never found that troupe hilarious even ad a kid. It just seemed abusive. Now if someone like mineta got hit since he's usually being a creep I'd be fine but being hit for no reason other than "comedy" is dumb to me

    Question becomes...do we count Bakugo's mom? Was she this verbally abusive always? Or is this a product of Bakugo being a shitty person at one time? Still not good, and is DEFINITELY abusive, but it does make you wonder if his actions are solely from his big ego or if his mother's words have a part in how bad he got before All Might, Episode Two Deku, Best Jeanist, and Kirashima got involved in making him a better person.

    "Not endeavor levels of abuse" endeavor didnt abuse his kids. You can make an argument for neglect, but abuse doesnt really qualify. "Oh but he hit his kid" no, he trained with his kid, if you were going to teach your son or daughter karate or any other martial art, how do you expect to do that without hitting them? Endeavor trained shoto from diapers to be a hero, including how to fight. He was rough and he was strict but that is not abuse, just like making your child practice piano or do their homework every night is not abuse.
    On the other hand koichis mother hit him as a fucking infant, hit him for no reason other than it made her life easier, continually hit and beat him until he was physically and emotionally crippled.
    Shoto might have hated endeavor, but the most injury he ever got was from his mother, not his father. While it might harsh from our standard, in a world where heros are killed an die because they do not have enough training, being trained from a child instead of a teenager could save his life someday.
    On the other hand koichi was beaten mercilessly and without reason. Sure it made his mothers life slightly easier but that is the exact opposite of shoto, as opposed to small hardships early in life to prepare and protect him from his future koichi's mother beat him to improve her life and ruin her son's.

    • @TheMightySceptile
      @TheMightySceptile 4 года назад +3

      No he abused Shoto. Sure he may have been training him, but for the most part it was against shoto's will and it was beyong intensive for a child. He also physically isolated shoto from his siblings and probally most kids his own age. And for the other kids neglect doesnt really cover it. He physically and mentally abused their mother to the point where she had to be put in a mental asylum and had zero interest in raising them himself. So not only did he neglect them, but also basically put them in a situation where they had no parent to rely on. Plus, in the most recent chapters we find out he's directly responsible for the deaths of one of his kids.
      Also if he was that abusive to their mother its safe to assume he was the same towards them.

    • @NoESanity
      @NoESanity 4 года назад +2

      @@TheMightySceptile so parents making their child practice a musical instrument against their will is abuse.... you might never want to meat an Asian person.
      "oh he turned out to have been responsible for the death of one of his children" hmm, it's almost as if watching your child die might create a reason why one might have problems emotionally connecting with another child, dude are you paying attention?
      and the only confirmed case of abuse towards the mother was when she permanently scard and potentially crippled their child. dude are you even reading the same fucking manga.

    • @TheMightySceptile
      @TheMightySceptile 4 года назад +4

      @@NoESanity Yeah, she was so scared of Endaeavor that even shoto just looking like endeavor made her freak the fuck out. Its not shown directly on screen but it can be implied that he'd been mistreating for a long time before that moment.
      "so parents making their child practice a musical instrument against their will is abuse" let me state this. Its not just that he forced him to train, its the level of training he put him through, along with completely isolating him. The man did not see Shoto as a human being, but a tool to surpass all might. He literally only started regretting any of his actions now, as in the current story. And we can see the kid alive in a scene long after he started isolating Shoto, so its not like hes training him so hard becuase he regrets that kids death. His whole family was just a means to an end for him.

Also his brother dying isn't the motivation for him to train them he just wanted a tool to surpass All Might and nothing more he offered them no hugs and love he only had them work and when they said they cant do it he acted as if they didn't exist or as if they were a disgrace. Me as an Asian: Must be a cultural bias as that barely counts as disciplining a child. Sure the mom basically placed a psycological limiter on Koichi due to her overprotectiveness, but that was for Koichi's sake. Endeavour on the otherhand wanted his kids' quirks to mature faster, thus needing to push them beyond their physical and psychological limits which traumatized them.

      It's more than that tho she stunted his growth by hitting him when there's a better more logical alternative instead of hitting him. She also does it well into his adulthood which makes it worse and she actively belittles him in normal conversation even going as far as to say she wants another person to replace her kid.
