I’m just n my way to Nice from Canada and just want to say thank you for giving some tips as to French restaurant culture! This was very informative and also very calming haha. Thank you!
Thank you! This was very helpful. My mother and sister went to France years ago and they told me that the French appreciate you much more if you at least TRY to speak a few words of their language. I feel like it's just polite to do that in any country you travel to.
Thank you! Yes, you‘re absolutely right, just a few words can make all the difference. And it’s fun, too, to learn a few phrases in a foreign language 😊
There is a small restaurant in the tiny street between the opera and Boulangerie Jeannot that has frog legs as a specialty. Of course, I have NOT tried frog legs myself, and do not plan to try them!
Hi, yes, actually if you ask kindly most restaurants are totally fine with that! Anja & I share lots of dishes since we sometimes check out two restaurants in a row 😉
At 2:14 mark, a pitcher of water is not FREE! We just got back from Nice and every place, except for one charged us 8-9 euros when we asked for it. So, your statement is very misleading for the new tourists.
Oh, it’s absolutely always free if you take tap water (une carafe d‘eau)!!! And we insist on that! If you paid for tap water, they took advantage of you being tourists - but honestly we‘ve never heard of a scam like that. Are you sure you weren’t served bottled water? If you ask for water, they will serve bottled water which is not free, of course. Always mention the „carafe“ bit!
@@libertilgs Sorry to hear - that is really bizarre, in 20+ years on the French Riviera we have never ever paid for a carafe d‘eau!!! And we order it every single time when dining out (or even just have a coffee)
@@rivierago Thank you for clarifying. Unfortunately, this example is not the only one when we were treated in a dishonest way in Nice. The surroundings were beautiful, but not the quality of service provided.
@@rivierago I was very shocked, especially my mum! I don’t even think they were very welcome to have us, because we wanted to share one pizza, but they didn’t allow us to do it at first
@@IVannaOLiinyk20 oh, sorry, you named the place earlier, didn’t catch it. That’s very strange, though - I checked their website and their menu, and the prices look pretty decent. No idea how they came up with 8€ for a water 😳 (water 4€ during Happy Hour (until midnight), so looks like they charged you for 2 waters?)

Hi, where did you have your cafe gourmand? Thanks
Hi! At brasserie Félix Faure, lefelixfaure.fr/fr
Hello
👍
What about online food delivery service in Nice,France
Hey, definitely a lot of options - everywhere on the Côte d’Azur really. There’s Uber eats and the like, just ask google 😉
@@rivierago goggle don't know that much in this case then a native or individual from particular region knows 😊
@@rivierago but Thanks for the reply 👍
I have an extremely small appetite, is sharing a plate acceptable in France?

@@rivierago yes I am sure it was not a bottled water. And it was tap water in those pitchers, not a sparkling water.

I was charged 8€ for a water today. I am not even kidding. The cafe was called “the blue whales”
Wow, that sounds expensive! 😳 which café/restaurant?
@@rivierago la blue wales

Ils ont juste voulu vous montrer qu ils ne vous aimaient pas. Les français sont parfois très susceptibles.
