Actually... They tried with Dominion first. And then decided to pull the plug.
Dominion was so fun until the first patch for it, then they gave up on it and let it rot with bots for years til they removed it, such a shame. happened with Twisted Treeline as well.
It's so sad they gave up on dominion so easily like TT, they just completly ignoroed the game there until it became almost unplayable then they proced to say people didn't played it, clasic riot.
Tbh, while I did love Dominion, having the Crystal Scar back so we could get Ascension again would be my jam!

These less competitive modes are what I want. Swarm is peak casual, which is what I love about it.

Someone else mentioned it may be a “conflict of interest” type situation since he makes videos about Riot games pretty much exclusively.
Why would they? What new audience would that bring them? Everyone who watches him already knows about league.
No offense to him but necrit would literally be one of the worst channels for riot to sponsor.

The thing with swarm is the insane potential it has. This version of Swarm is heavily inspired (almost a copy of) Vampire survivors. But they could branch out in different ways and be inspired by other roguelikes/-lites. Maybe add a shop (during the game), wave-type gameplay, or a way to play most if not all champions.
No, you're wrong. Swarm is not a copy of Vampire Survivors and neither is the later the creator of the genre, this has been a thing since forever.

@@HollowR1130 You didnt read my comment it seems, and you cant possibly claim that Swarm is not heavily inspired by vampire survivors, because it is. Necrit even said so in the video. I never claimed it was a direct copy of VS but they are incredibly similar. I never claimed VS to be a genre. Ive played around 10+ roguelikes/roguelikes so i know the difference.

But it's a bullet heaven not a Roguelike. The map stays the same, you don't lose the resources you gather after dying / winning. Those are things that make a Roguelike.
@@HollowR1130 I think youre confusing it with the twin stick shooter genre. Vampire Survivors like games where the only thing you do is to walk around and pick up exp bubbles and dodge monsters while your weapons automatically aim at the enemy and kill them for you didn't exist before Vampire Survivors. Also, there is a reason why "X game is equal to an entire genre" exists. Otherwise Metroid-vania genre wouldn't be a thing or Souls-like genre. A game does something unique which other games try to copy which creates a sub-genre. Like how From Software made Dark Souls intentionally difficult so people can challange themselves which spawned an army of games which were difficult which established the Souls-like genre or how Mihoyo made Genshin Impact which spawned alot of games like it which are open world games where you build 4 people team by farming artifacts with passives and randomized stats to take down foes and progress through the game as you find hidden chests and puzzles scattered around the open world which we unofficially call "Genshin-like".
Honestly, swarm was super fun and I liked the effort put into the game mode. The story behind it was impressive, a dev that wanted to do it so he straight up did. A passion project brought to life. Then the game mode itself is fun, the optimisations showed effort. So I will support this game mode

@@xqt6339 Riot's Swarm might unironically be the best thing to happen to Vampire Survivors after its release. Thanks to everyone calling swarm a Vampire Survivor-like (which it is) a lot of people have bought or are considering buying Vampire Survivors, so it is a win for everyone in this case.

The genre of Swarm game mode is called "Reverse Bullet Hell" or "Bullet Heaven". I prefer the first.

It's a bullet heaven, not a survivor.
Google "top 15 bullet heaven" and Vampire Survivors appears. Then, Google "top 15 survival games" and you will see games like Don't Starve Together.

Or survivor but devs are pushing for bullet heaven because Survivor reminds players that they "took inspiration" a little bit too much for most of them.

I think what I really liked is the fact you can try the skins by playing them on the gamemode. It actually was more motivating to get them that way rather than with promos or watching the skins on a video. Also the Gamemode has so much effort put into it,that it's crazy how short It actually Will last avaible.

While it probably won't happen, but I hope they expand swarm to include more champions, and hopefully making it so you can select skins you already own on the playable champions. Then maybe when they drop a new skin line those skins can be used in Swarm, which would help sell some skins as you'd get to see what they're like in motion and actual gameplay. Skinspotlights is good, but nothing beats having a skin on the character you're controlling. Swarm has a lot of potential and if they iron things out, like stability and slowdown while expanding it, I think it can go very far, or maybe they can take the ground work of Swarm and use it for other story telling. Diablo like mini campaign anybody? But I liked Swarm, it's quite good even if it crashed on me a lot because just SO many enemies spawned sometimes.
It's not just preferring single player over competitive games, it's also the realization that in League you compete with your teammates as much as with the enemy team, and at one point or another you have enough. Swarm is hella fun and I hope they'll add more difficulties or even expand with new maps, champs etc.
The major difference between Swarm and SR is A) You can play solo if you want and B) Even if someone is griefing, it makes the game harder, not unwinnable.
Swarm was the first time leagues made me pull one of those nights where you’re up way later than you should be drooling at your computer screen because you can’t get off the game in a very long time.

Idk if Riot understand how much fun people get from these PVE modes. I myself played most if not all the past gamemodes. ik im old...
but the best ones for me are in no order not including swarm:
-Doom Bots (Evil Teemo hardest one for sure)
-Project (has PVP and PVE)
-Dark Star (Crossmap Thresh hooks crazy outplays and lantern saves)
-Star Guardian (anime beams)
-Odyssey (Yasuo nado, long range Malphite ult)

Seems like Swarm's become League's version of Path of Champions. I hope they expand the heck out of it.
My thing is like, how is it surprisingly that something almost the entire community have been asking for blew up. I understand that the last pve modes fell off eventually but at the same time swarm compared has the value of being very replayable (not to say the others werent). Id say if this were to become permanent, make it runeterra themed aka base game theme, then with updates they can release new missions that are skin themed, (darkin event darkin theme, star guardian theme maps etc etc) that way we can play it normally and new missions can be released with skin lines and such itd be hella sick
I'd actually would like Necrit to make videos about the Wow lore.
I mained Jinx for two years, got my first ever pentakill with her, then tried playing it like I normally would, unistalled it because of the players who don't want to play jungle etc.
I didn't realise that this is only meant to be a limited time mode. I didn't try it yet as I didn't want to get stuck on it when I am just about to go to hospital for 3 weeks and won't be able to play it.
I wish they'd develop it as a standalone game for purchase.
A Survivors-like game on the League Universe seems like a formula for easy money

This game mode has actually got me more interested in the lore around anima squad and final city that I usually am. Also, the last time arcane came out, there were already lots of people on summoners rift playing Jinx caitlyn and Vi using the arcane skins. Now just imagine, what would happen if Riot actually releases something similar to this game mode this time around for Arcane with the Arcane champs.
I actually bought Vampire Survivors while Swarm was on the PBE, because I didn't want to burn myself out on Swarm before it hit live.....
I really enjoyed the PVE modes for Odyssey and Star Guardians, so I'm really, really happy with how this has turned out.
Wow, who would've imagined that the issue with Riot Forge wasn't that League players didn't want singleplayer games, but that Riot didn't advertise the games enough.
Riot Forge died for nothing.
How many games were there? I only know of 4. Sylas, nunu, bandle city, and viego.

They have to use Riot's IP and sell games, but Riot Games can create single-player games with free-to-play models, which is something Riot Forge could never do. Remember, they are indie developers and need to make money quickly, unlike a juggernaut company like Riot Games.
So, you are totally wrong. Even Riot Games said, 'We are going to create our own single-player games.' The actual reason is simple: Riot wants to do it themselves and not depend on others.

As a 37 years old player since season 1 I think people don't lose interest in competitive League, you just can't always compete with young players. If I pick relatively easy champs, I can win with game knowledge and macro, but if I go on highly mechanical champs, unless I play them a lot, it's hard to beat teens with super fast reaction times even when they are not that good. Fortunately, not many players play to learn, most just play to spend time doing something, so to speak, so you can be "old" and still beat younger players if we are not talking about peak ELO League.

I'll be nice to get a new 'game mode' with every big event and when they are done, make a separate launcher for 'archiving' them so even after the event you can still play them
Only problem there is for Riot to pay for servers just for those games. I honestly support Riot releasing Swarm on Steam for 9.99, allowing players to host games or play alone.
I wish they would do this with old client and modes. I'd love to play season 3 again.

i wish it would become its own game mode, and keep all the normal mobs as the enemies as opposed to the event ones, like have minions and jungle camps as the swarm, and just skin those during the events, the minibosses can be like rift herald.
My boyfriend, a Valo player that has tried league but never got into it, agreed to try Swarm with me. This man stayed up with me until 5 am because he LOVED Swarm. Now he’s giving regular league another tryto play with me.

i just hope that Swarm will get big updates, i mean yes its fun with friends even more but im playing on extrem now and only need to unlock a few things still. so i hope a big upgrade will come fast
i just interduced my friend to league of legends but he quickly strugglle learning all of the convoluted stuff of a moba game it is, such a great timing when the swarm game mode got releaased its so fun and simple ive been playing it with my friends for hours and hours to get all the upgrades and help eachother to unlock all the champion its the most fun ive had playing "league" in years, i love swarm so much !
I grinded the swarm conqueror title for FUN.
I haven't played League in years. I had no idea anything that was happening and my buddy convinced me to try league again. I opened the client, saw Swarm and I've been having a blast with it ever since.
Fun Fact: In Thai servers, when the swarm drop we could not play it for 1 whole day. When we entered the game it just said that it could not connected to the servers. And also we do have a lot of problem about Vanguard the pop up error message are pop up like 3 days a month.
nah man this first time they tried this was years and years ago with the All Stars 1v1 mode and map. Scraped to release 10 years+ later as a luck based 2v2, tanks kill everything game mode.

I mean if they made the anima skins like the star guardian skinline and brought it back once in a while with new skins, new areas to clear out, and new story it could become something popular that we get once in a while but every time it comes around its worth it to play and enjoy.
funny that I stopped playing League and went to Wow after being blocked to play by vanguard
This made me remember Star guardian event, that was also fun and different, but since then until Swarm the modes have been meh, though Arena can be both fun and aggravting. Bring more such diverse modes with next events, I will buy the pass stright away.
I was almost 6 months sober from League before I came back for Swarm. This is the best thing Riot devs have done in forever. I completed Extreme difficulty with every champ and deleted league again 👍. Let's hope it comes back soon.
The way the image of UwU Blaster lingers my mind, contemplating how visually pleasing the color palette for it and imagines how it functions in game. It's one of those things that makes me "I will play this game maybe tomorrow if I'm not busy or maybe the day after tomorrow" just because of how addicting it was. Been playing for over a decade and I haven't been addicted to a gamemode since Odyssey. I'll be spamming it as much as I can just to somehow show my support. 😂💛

I also have a theory that Swarm is being used to test WASD controls. Some Rioters in interviews (I think Mortdog? Could be wrong.) have discussed how controls have been a barrier for people to playing over the years and people are more comfortable and familiar with WASD on PC and how kids are growing up with mostly touch controls

I think it's mainly because TFT is getting better and better if you ask me.
PVE even though maybe the numbers never said that I grinded PVE for days every day trying to get all the achievements and rewards and when it had the skin at the end it gave me more of a reason to play.
So I'm glad it's back and Arena is also fun.
I think that one thing Riot needs to be careful about is that they do NOT over use Swarm. Just like the Spirit Blossom visual novel or the Nexus Blitz fans wanting it to be permanent, I think it's really good that people are able to rotate through these different and variable game modes throughout the years or else even something as awesome as Swarm will feel stale and overused like how the visual novel events felt post Spirit Blossom.
I feel like the best places to bring Swarm back for canonical events would be either Bilgewater/The Shadow Isles, fighting waves of undead, or Shurima/Icathia fighting off the Void. The stronger the excuse is for infinite numbers of steadily growing threats, the easier it is to get into the act of eliminating them!

They should make it come back next year and just change the maps around. Or release It on like steam or something. If they release it on steam then they can freely add in all the champions they want and monities it more easily. Granted they'll need to higher a new group for bugs and implementing and creation of skins
