I remember watching Robotech on TV when I was a kid. It was so cool coming home everyday after school and a new (to me) episode airing. didn't know about this game until 10 years after it. Good game, glad it's in my the collection. Playing gamecube version through a Wii.
I beat this game as a kid, never even knew there was a tv show. The ending confused me so much on why it ended with me just floating in space. Especially after all that hard work
Same, I discovered the anime and movies this past week, even though it's a dated and odd franchise, it has been THE MOST emotionally-gripping and relatable anime series I've ever become attached to, My newfound favorite for life I feel like. I STRONGLY suggest watching the Macross Saga at least and the follow-up film Robotech 2: The Sentinels, it's all just soooo good to Me personally. 👍👍👍❤😊
@@SomeOrangeCat That's what I did. Runs great on my PC. Still a blast to play all these years later. God I wish new Robotech game would come out someday, maybe even something by the group behind the Ace Combat series. Imagine them with the Robotech license.
He lived, the developers confirmed it, and it’s an Easter egg in the following game invasion. It’s presumed that The zentraedi that you befriend came and got you
That's my personal head canon. With Zeraal dead, the Zentraedi on the carrier decided their best hope of survival was to return to earth at sublight speed. Not wanting to be greeted by hostile fire on their return, they rescued Jack Archer to use as a bargaining chip. In return, he talked the RDF out of blowing the carrier up on sight when they returned. That's the story I'd tell anyway .. and the developers DID put in a "Jack Archer Lives" easter egg in the next game.
I grew up watching anime on Toonami in the very early 2000s while my parents rented me the old Robotech DVDs from a local rental place and all this shit was my childhood I swear. I remember getting this game just was I was near the end of the Macross Saga but never got to finish the saga at the time (stupid scratched DVD pausing at the Grand Cannon firing scene). Once I got into Middle School, anime became incredibly unpopular and hated so I tossed out pretty much all of my childhood anime figures and stuff. Still kept this game tho, and unlike with Gundam or Yu Yu Hakusho it was the only connection I had to the franchise during this “No Anime” period. I forgot most of the story except for the stuff in the anime mentioned in the game like Roy and Rick and Lisa. Come High School and I’m trying to impress a crush who was a big anime fan so I thought long and hard about what anime I had seen as a kid and it reignited my interest in anime and Robotech. My parents got me the complete Macross Saga and I replayed this game and boom I was officially getting back into anime. Now I’m knee-deep into retro anime and fucking loving it.
This was my first ps2 Game when I started gaming. It looked incredibly back then but I never made it over the first city level because my 8 years old dumb ass me got scared from this mission haha. I got so anxious in this mission that I flew on the roofs and stay there for like 10 mins. I never got it to play till the end because a few years later we sold it all but nice to see how the other missions look like.
To defeat the Zentraedi Ace you should use the sniper and use the heavy shot with it, wait until it remains steady in his flight pattern, and you can take them out in 4 or 5 shots. Throwing missiles is useles since it deflects them, and only the rifle hits them
do you buy all these games and record them on the actual consoles or is it mostly emulation? I imagine if you had all these games you'd have to get moses to part the sea of cases all through the house every time you get up to make yourself a cup of tea

I need to get an old PS2 just for this game.

Its awesome, its also on the GameCube incase you already have that console :)
Just buy the game and run it on your PC via PCSX2. It's practically like an HD remake that way.

Kind of revolutionairy that a tie in game from 2002 had real projectile physics.
It does not have ballistics physics. We had projectile weapons in games years before this.
