    I loved the Descent games when I was younger! I still love them! I just added Decent maximum(descent 2) to my ps1 collection!

      Heck yeah! Descent was the go to game for a long time. I always thought Descent Maximum was the same game with a few new maps so I never bought it until recently. At least I get to enough it now!

    Great review man this game looks pretty damn fun! Might have to add this one to the old PS1 collection! Thanks for sharing!

      Thanks for watching! It's always nice to add another long box game to the collection that's worth playing!

    Just finished my redo of the Descent games minus D3 and then this randomly pops up on my feed. Played 1 and 2 via Dxrebirth and then the Freespace games via FSopen. I highly recommend these games to anybody wanting some classic DOS action, and highly recommend a joystick. These are some of my favorite games ever.

      Oh man a joystick is the best way to play those old DOS Descent games!
      I've always wanted to play Freespace. I recently got an old PC running XP so I need to give it a go.

      @@EveryDayRetroGaming I definitely recommend playing via FSopen. You can grab the FS port for the first game, Silent Threat, and the upgrade MediaVPs for a much better experience. Then immediately roll into the second game. You can do this on a modern machine. As much as I enjoy a good XP box, the game was a lot more enjoyable this way at higher resolutions.

      @@EveryDayRetroGaming I thought I replied to this already but maybe I didn't??
      As much as I condone a good XP box, I definitely insist on playing FS1 and 2 in FSOpen with the MediaVSP upgrades. Much better experience all around.

    I Received My PS1 Longbox Copy Of Descent Today. Now.. I Have Both Descent & Descent Maximum In Complete Copy's. At Least These Ports Are Playable To Me & That's What Matters To Me. To Me, Both Descent & Descent Maximum Are The Only PS1 Console Exclusive's Kinda Rare To Me & I'm Keeping Them Forever!!!!

    The music/soundtrack in the Playstation version is INCREDIBLE! Worth a playtrough just for the music…

    • @EveryDayRetroGaming
      @EveryDayRetroGaming  2 года назад +1

      Completely agree! Music is spot on and a perfect fit for Descent!

      Oh man floppy discs now that is something I haven't heard of in a long time. Sometimes I wish I had an old DOS or windows 95 gaming PC

      @@EveryDayRetroGaming I'm building a Windows 98 Se retro PC. There is an old emachine in the basement we haven't used in 10 years I'm gonna put better parts inside to make an overkill system.

      Hell yeah. I just put a 95 together and upgraded to 64 MB ram. Plays descent 2 like a dream!

    from what i understand, the music here is different than the pc version, and for that reason many fans of descent prefer the ps1 version. that industrial techno is so 90s in the best way.
    what would you say? other than the controls being a pain, is this just as good?

    • @EveryDayRetroGaming
      @EveryDayRetroGaming  2 года назад +1

      I did have just as much fun playing it on Playstation 1 as I did back in the DOS days. I would love to get a PS1 joystick and see if it feels the exact same from back then.

      @@EveryDayRetroGaming did you use that weird expensive dual joystick that sold badly? i do have a fightstick for fighting games and maybe that could work similarly.
      i wonder if this controls OK on a standard controller. i doubt it’s dualshock compatible or ps1 mouse compatibile.
      sadly the ps2 @ 3 are easier to make keyboard and mouse compatible

    • @EveryDayRetroGaming
      @EveryDayRetroGaming  2 года назад

      I've been wanting to get the dual joystick as I think that could be best for Descent but no idea if it works. I wish the mouse worked as I have one man that would be so cool.... The the PS1 controller is really good once you wrap you head around the controls. I do have one of those ASCII (SP) "six axis" PS1 ball controller and wondered if that would work. It's sealed so I'm not sure if I should open it.

    • @ibnkhaldoun4319
      @ibnkhaldoun4319 2 года назад +1

      sadly the ps1 mouse works with few games, it’s such a shame. i was a pc gamer first so i always try to find a way to do keyboard & mouse or something similar.
      my fightstick does work on ps1 games with a converter but that probably wouldn’t be as good as a dual joystick. i might just have to throw up my hands and accept the imperfect controls, i did with doom on ps1

    • @ibnkhaldoun4319
      @ibnkhaldoun4319 2 года назад

      @@EveryDayRetroGaming also yeah looks like the dual joystick in fact does work with descent & descent maximum (according to wikipedia.)
      oh lordy i don’t want to think of the ebay price. i think that analog controller that predates the dualshock (looks very similar, has some longer handles) also would work & not cost a fortune.

  • @pugslt1

    The only way to play this game is with the PlayStation Analog Joystick.
