Torque:
2 MAF sensor screws 1.1 Foot pound (source: Civic Repair Manual pg 11-216)
Tools: Philips Screw Driver
MAF Sensor Cleaner
Silicone paste
Clean rag
The Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is part of your vehicle’s electronic fuel injection system,
is responsible for calculating the total amount of air entering the engine.
MAF sensors are located between the air filter and the throttle body.
You may find trouble codes P0068, P0069, P1106, or P1107 for this sensor.
Other codes:
P0100: Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Circuit Malfunction.
P0101: Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Problem.
P0102: Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Circuit Low Input.
P0103: Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Circuit High Input.
Bad MAF Sensor Symptoms:
1. Check Engine Light Illuminates
2. Drop in Acceleration
3. Rough or Jerky Acceleration
Hesitation or jerk during acceleration (check vacuum hose for leak)
4. Hard Starting Condition
Hard start or start up and stall shortly after start up (unplug this sensor and the engine start and stay running indicated a bad sensor)
5. Black Smoke From Exhaust Pipe.
Engine Rich (Black smoke) or Lean with poor fuel economy (getting Rich or Lean trouble codes indicated bad or dirty sensor)
6. Rough Idle
7. Misfires
8. Changed Fuel Consumption
