The K&N filter itself improves the sound most definitely! It's not just placebo. I have used K&N filters for basically all the cars I've had. My 10th gen Si had one before having the CAI and it definitely had more turbo sounds than stock. The first time I noticed the sound actually was in my first car that I owned - a MK6 GTI. I changed the filter without really expecting anything and after installing my K&N filter, I heard the turbo from inside the cabin when I never really noticed that before. That was back in highschool and I know it got louder because I didn't even know it was supposed to get louder and so I wasn't "looking" for the sound. Took me a bit to realize it was because of the filter. Even my dad's Honda Passport got a K&N filter and you can hear the VTEC engagement now from the J35.
The K&N drop in filter is the real deal. The filter definitely wakes up the car a little bit and very impressive HP gains from a filter 😂. The filter has been my first mod on my last 2 cars and be the next first upgrade on my new 2015 fg4
Once you dive into the shifter, you are going to fall in love with that car all over again. Acuity 3 way, solid base bushings, hybrid cable bushings, and the detent springs. Trust me from experience. I just hate that TWM performance is not a company anymore. That’s the shifter I had in my FG2 back years ago.
Watching this after buying a 9th gen Si! It came with a K&N air filter along with other mods and I absolutely love it (now I know why you like 9th gens so much 😂). VTEC kicks in beautifully too!
Drop-in oil filters are great. COBB tuning OTS tunes are done with their drop-in filter which are essentially K&N filters rebranded. Less restricted airflow gives you the extra pump.
I def noticed a difference on all my k24s with the k/n. I def hear more engine noise on your end. I do recall it taking the ecu like 10-20 miles to really pick up the additional airflow
It’s said that a performance drop in filter is better then any other alternative. Because stock air box is the best designed for the vehicle . And keeps hot air out of intake .
just got my 09 si in july thing is so much fun. want to do oem + build and have this filter on the wish list…next step rear sway bar. keep up the good content!!!
Hey Cam, back when I got my 8th gen Si, it came without a filter! The sound it made was crazy and intoxicating! It was only when I took it to a mechanic that he told me there wasn't a filter installed! I think i drove it like that for a few weeks.
Take it from someone with k20a2 experience. Oiled filters WILL over time gum up the throttle body and IACV. Plenty of companies make dry flow now. AEM and Injen are big ones and include it with the CAI. Zero reason to go oiled. My tune would also get all out of wack unless I cleaned the MAF every 10k miles. And no, I didn’t over oil the filter on cleaning. I bought new ones each time so I didn’t need to deal with that.
Ayy lets goooooooo! I put one of those filters in with a mishimoto intake tube. Its just nice piece of mind! My FA5 came with an SRI and it was wayyyy to loud. OEM+ is the way to go on a daily!
Sounds great! Since it has low miles you may be cleaning out the engine. 😂. Every Civic I’ve bought new didn’t fully break in until 50k miles. It’s like they were built so tight. Power improves, better mpg. You may be surprised putting new Boshe plugs. Whole new exhaust with res delete. My 2013 really opened up when I started replacing the intake and exhaust. Shaving 8lbs off each wheel on upgrade.
You need an actual cold air intake to properly hear i-VTEC. I have a CARB legal 50 state Injen CAI. It’s so loud my k20z1 engine just screams like a bat out of hell with stock muffler.
Always my first thing do when buy a new used car. K&N oem filter, cabin air filter, oil change, transmission fluid change, diff if not fwd, spark plugs, ect cheap peace of mind. Do K24 bottom end you'll gain a ton of torqe and keep z3 head for top end
The only thing K&N and other oiled filters are good at is making MAF sensors dirty and cars run like ass as a result. If there is no MAF, then sure go for it. Any car with a MAF should stick to dry filters. They flow better anyways.
Put a HPS silicone hose that goes with stock air box ,does a slight difference , I have it with k and n filter, more sound, breathes better, not placebo fb6 owner check out my short s
I don't like the way I look with a medium fade. tried it a few times and they always leave the upper part of the sides flared out a bit and I look goofy like that
Not if you are going to maintain it. $50 for filter , $15 for cleaner, clean it every 50k miles(per suggestion). A regular filter is $15 so in about 40k miles(assuming you do standard 10k mile change on filters) it’ll pay itself off. Ive driven around 100k total miles in my cars with drop ins and never had an issue. Does have a tint induction sounds difference.

LFG another Cameron Hill 8th Gen SI video on a nice Saturday evening 😎

@@yukonstriker1703 ah thanks for that Dude! I didn’t know. I had TWM but no longer a thing. They would use solid or stock bushings
That VTEC crossover sound never gets old
Memory Lane, had a 2007 civic si coupe with hondata flashpro with kn filter, greddy ti exhaust, it sounded just perfect in my ears.
Watching this after buying a 9th gen Si! It came with a K&N air filter along with other mods and I absolutely love it (now I know why you like 9th gens so much 😂). VTEC kicks in beautifully too!
The K&N filters are great. I have one in my Nissan Altima and I noticed the difference and better fuel mileage too.
6:20 less restrictive, more sound
😂😂😂😂😂 I knew he was gonna get real Honda 8th gen being the last true vtec
BETTER FLOWING FILTER WILL CREATE MORE SOUND
Drop-in oil filters are great. COBB tuning OTS tunes are done with their drop-in filter which are essentially K&N filters rebranded. Less restricted airflow gives you the extra pump.
Dude your videos make me want to do so much with my Si! This looks like a fun addition and happy that you got your 8th gen :’)

9th gen boy, here supporting.
Keep going bro, we love and support ur channel!
Thanks! I’ll be back in a 9th Gen someday

😐
I bound 6 k&N panel filters together to use as my home HVAC filtration. Picked up +2 fan power.

Cleaning the maf every so often don't seem to bad of a drawback though.
But man, thanks for sharing that info
Love the content man. I’ve owned my fa5 for over 3 years
the strongest placeebo effect video. just kidding loving it
Lol “stop the baby is in the car” proceeds to floor it n go like 5mph faster😂 can’t wait to see this thing with some bolt ons n a tune
I put the same filter on my si and definitely got more of an intake noise.
They sound amazing with a CAI 👍🏻
I did a K&N drop-in filter on my 2017 Ridgeline and added 10 more HP. 🤷🏻♂️👍🏼
Ayy lets goooooooo! I put one of those filters in with a mishimoto intake tube. Its just nice piece of mind! My FA5 came with an SRI and it was wayyyy to loud. OEM+ is the way to go on a daily!
Really Needed this video today, thank you Cameron!!
i have the same drop-in filter on my fd2 and it has been definitely a blast.

@@Rianuary thank you
I remember rocking these filters in my old E46, they're fun but a pain to clean. And you can hear a "woosh" noise.
you're going to be shocked at how loud the crossover is with an actual intake lol
An intake was the first mod I did on mine for the sound alone
I have a K&N in my fk8. Best bang for your buck.
My tuner says 5BHP all day long.
Unplug the battery and then plug it back in and do the idle relearn procedure you might notice more improvement after.
filter is a little bit thinner and better flowing so it probably does make it slightly louder
congrats on 50k!
K20 loves cold air! Filter is deff worth it for 50$ otherwise go cold air.
Cold air intake either from skunk 2 or hybrid will make a difference 👍

Facts the rsx vtec louder tho
What's your favourite car wax/ paint protection?
I did a drop in filter in my 4Runner . Only thing I noticed is I hear the engine a lot more higher RPM other than that no other difference.
I’d love to see the new type r on the channel, and either a 90s Honda or a civic hatchback touring
The motherly instincts kickin in... it's not that fast 😂
Just got one for my 2012 RDX turbo and it makes no noise lol
2nd gear 40 roll is gunna get u right into the power band

Same here, do the exact thing and depending on the tires. I might change them.
Love the civic si ❤
lol amature hour cracked me up!!
Could be simple, its breathing better. So the sound is more noticeable, and the air flow is better.
love your content brother, realistic budgets lol. God Bless.
Sorry to bother you love your videos!! A video of some races and some track and maybe touge runs with friends ❤
@@Cardude369 I’ll do lots of touge driving when we get back to California in February
I'm curious, what is the yellow light on in the lower left.
traction control off
Next time we want to see the baby’s reaction 😂
@@brandonnhol will do!
No one notices vtec cross over just us 8th gen owners lol
VTEC HIGH cam is the Honda version of emissions defeat.
Dry flow filters are best
😂 u gotta give it to her in first gear bro! Everyone knos that 😂
Are k&n filters worth it. I might get one for my gti.
get a hondata to get rid of the rev hang.
If you are ever down south you can review my 2024 ct4 Blackwing
When will you get burger King in the 8th gen?
good idea
Sounds better

Great video 📹 👍
fix the windshield lol it's driving me nuts looking at it.
Rev hang goes away with the AC on
🧢
Bro I noticed that😭
Compressor load pulls the RPMs down
Bro are you gonna dyno it to confirm?
Eh, I’m already gonna spend a bunch of money when I dyno tune it with proper mods so no. We’ll just take that other guy’s word
Tripping sack?
Good buy
Be careful with that 2nd gear
K24 swap coming soon
another banger
Get a medium fade bruh them high and tights boot much
I don't like the way I look with a medium fade. tried it a few times and they always leave the upper part of the sides flared out a bit and I look goofy like that
Man this car too cool to do boring mods like this
believe it or not it does just not as noticeable as a cai
Thats a let down have vivian drive it so she can feel that vtang kick on lol
Vivian said 😐
She gonna meet a sugar daddy soon 😂
N/A VTEC is always better
fbo is waste of money, 220 hp max. Just turbo or supercharge it. if you want a carb legal supercharger, get the cte supercharger one
nice
Stop shifting man rip on that fing thing
K&N drop in waste of money tbh
