My guess for animes like this for not making a season 2 is probably because they want people to see what the story is about and then read the light novel or manga as some kind of surprise because some light novels and manga tend to have allot of info that is never seen in the anime.
Its because making anime isnt an art, its business. Anime serves as promotion for the original source material, and even if the Anime was well written, well directed, amazing animation and just the perfect anime all around, as long as the sales in the source material doesnt increase, they wont make a new season
Lucky you. I managed to find the light novel from vol 1 to vol 4 in English. (It took me hours to find it) There was a place where all volumes were uploaded, but unfortunately it's in Japanese. I tried finding a forums for the light novel, but there were few and they weren't discussions about the light novel, but just giving an overall opinion.
I also want to read the light novel, because I was curious how the whole thing ends plus I also want to write a fanfiction on this anime. A fic that revolves around an OC I created and one Magnus x reader, (the second one if it was possible as I don't plan to base it from the anime which was rushed, but from the light novels)

Gonna be honest here, because of Unbreakable Machine Doll I seriously got into anime so much. I enjoyed watching this some years ago and I'm really hoping a season 2 until now. This anime got decent reviews by fans and there should be no excuse to not make a 2nd season, but I just don't know why they stopped it half road. Tbh, this anime can go up to 4 seasons cause the light novel consists of 17 volume (to be more precise you can call it "an arc") The first season took only 3 arcs out of 17, so there's plenty more of arcs left like literally why DID they stop? If you're wondering, the studio who made this anime is the same who made Toilet Bound Hanako-kun and Assassination Classroom, also this studio is quite popular for it's animations. For a 2013 anime, Unbreakable Machine Doll has one of the best animations during that time :3 Well, all we have to do is seriously wait until further notice about the 2nd season if there's any hope :(. Eventhough this anime might be a bit out of other Anime's range in 2020, I will definitely still enjoy it. 10/10 anime :D. Please we need a 2nd season

wow, i'm shocked no one is complaining how the CGI killed it for them. you see them alot nowadays. i'm all for hand drawn like neon genesis, cowboy bebop and infinite rivius but damn,do they not realize even the characters are mostly animated with help from computers now? its more a question of budget and style from that point.
