Greetings from Brazil. I have the FM2n, the model with the honeycomb shutter, working pretty fine. My doubt is about the proper way to prevent wear or damage on the shutter. If I wont use the camera for a long time, is the best thing to keep shutter charged or avoid it? I aways hear controversial answers and it seems to depends on the camera. What is the best way?
Yorgi, I need your aid: the piece that you add at 10:43 is shorter in my shutter, and also I have no spring (it does not seem to be to begin with) like the one that you use at 14:36. Is this just a different model or I'm missing something? I'm super stuck and this very video is the only information that I find online to replace the curtains. I been trying the whole week and I'm afraid of losing something or break the whole thing! Thank you in advance and many thanks for your videos. (My camera is an FM2, not an FM2n).
@@yorgic Weah, perfecty, at least for aprox 150 rolls that I exposed with it. Do you happen to have any resource for the shutter repair? I'm in a fit of despair, I love my camera and although your video is fantastic does not answer some questions that arise on the way.
My shutter wouldn't open all the way due to one of the elements always sliding into the wrong place. After bending it a bit it now seems to work again. This is however not a permanent fix and ill probably have to replace the parts. Any tips on where I can find a new shutter? Coudn't find any on ebay...
Hi, Yorgi. Greetings from Havana, Cuba. Im stuck with a FM2 shutter. I’ve done all the steps of you video and still I can’t get the shutter to work. Basically, one of the two curtains is never release. I wonder if I need to service the second level of the speed clockwork mechanism. Do you have some advice that might help me? Thanks in advance
Hi,looks fantastic(:I need to replace shutter blades for FM3A,can you help me please with info, there is no new parts for sale anymore and on Facebook Learn Camera Repair group people saying that shutter blades from another Nikon model suits for FM3A, I just want to be sure before I buy broken camera for parts, which models has same shutter curtain blades? thanks for sharing, looks like different curtains are used? the way you installed these did not look like the original ones?
The curtains can be made of titanium or aluminum. Both have the same dimensions.
What do you recommend?@@yorgic
Awesome thanks for making this
Great video! Is it needed to disassembly the shutter to change the curtains?
You only need to take out the first two screws in the video.

I leave the camera uncocked but I haven't read about the best way.

That piece is a brake for the lower curtain. The spring prevents the curtain to get stuck (opening or closing). Your shutter was working before?

In fact, that is a difference between Nikon fm2 and fm2n. That piece is longer in Nikon FM2n than in FM2 as Nikon improved the brake mechanism.
