To be fair, Kratos tried to reason with Hercules. The first thing he said to him was that "this is not between us," like he genuinely wanted Hercules to walk away.
@perryconrad7968 which is a good interpretation of the character. Even in the original myth, Hercules’es heroic flaw was his wrath. He would get angry at minor inconveniences and ruin his own life multiple times over, just because he let his emotions get to him and overreacted in violent ways. That’s how he got conscripted into the labors in the first place, one day he got so pissed that he killed his wife and children. His labors were effectively the gods punishing him to death and humiliation, since the man handing out the labors was his half brother, that wanted him dead over an inheritance dispute. They could have also brought up that Hercules had to clear a supernaturally dirty horse stall, which I am sure this version of the half gold loved doing, while Kratos was off killing Thanatos
I like how Kratos never mentions killing Zeus so did Zeus deserve to die as well? Even though Zeus was infected by the Evils of Pandora’s Box. I think Zeus was already a terrible person before he was infected so that could be the reason why Kratos doesn’t show remorse in killing his own Father.
@@superelite5133Yeah one of Zeus’ heinous acts before the evils infected him if I can recall was that he placed a curse on Kratos’ mother. The curse was that Callisto couldn’t tell his sons that he was the father because if she told them then she would transform into a hideous monster which she did in Ghost of Sparta. Kratos had no choice but to kill her but that fueled his rage and spitefulness of the Gods to times 11.

Honestly one of my biggest gripes with God of War will always be that they called Heracles "Hercules" when that's the Roman version not the Greek. It annoys me so much that nobody in entertainment has ever gotten it right
You can blame Disney's movie and the show for the name choice. Heracles is the better name but as time goes on, the myths get further and further diluted by Hollywood's interpretations of them.
It's fine if it's Hercules because his going to die anyway but Heracles name is the most respectable one that I'm glad the dev didn't add his original greek name. I read the story of his 12 labours it was sad but totally can't be blamed on what he did with the centaurs. Truly Tragic
I like how Kratos acknowledges the fact the that Heracles was like him in every way, and had to stop him from becoming a god of war that would’ve probably been more dangerous than Ares.
The weird thing here is Hercules obeying Hera's orders because he definitely doesn't get well along with her considering she tried to hurt him many times while he was a mortal
TC Carson plays a softer spoken Kratos so well, granted he didn't want to have to kill Hercules. But his acting in that scene is interesting. Fearless of his half brother tries to talk sense to him in a way only kratos could but Hercules isn't having any of it. Also mad respect to Carson for not being offended about not being cast again, it's not every actor that can accept someone else in a role like that.
I really want a scene where Old Kratos goes back in time to God of War 3, he talks to his younger self and convinced him to let him lead the assault on the gods. Then young Kratos sees Old Kratos doing what he can to stop this war, but also never shying away from whoopin @ss. Doesn’t kill them all, just the ones that absolutely refuse to see reason. Maybe even a few surprised faces from the gods seeing a Kratos older than them, & from the future, no less.
I mean Heracles is a warrior and to regret killing is not nice at all. Along with the fact that it was Heracles’s duty to stop Kratos and that he was jealous as well. In the novels, the first pick to kill ares was Heracles but because he was busy with another task, kratos was called over ahahahahhaahah
I hated how the God of War games treated Hercules. Hercules in the myth was extremely similar to Kratos's situation. Kratos was a demi-god favored by Zeus, who went on a great many journeys to help people around the world, and he was manipulated by Hera to kill his wife and his sons. Hercules suffered from a lot of despair and felt like he was worthless, and he spent years trying to redeem himself for his failure. Hercules meditated and became more quiet and reflective over his life, and he pursued religion and inner peace to change his life for the better. After a long time he remarried and had children again. Eventually Hercules became Zeus's chosen one, and he ascended to the status of a full god and helped Zeus fight off the giants (the giants and the Titans are different in mythology) to save Olympus. Hercules in essence went through the same character arc as Norse Saga Kratos. If God of War Hercules was accurate to the mythology he would have been calm and somber like modern Kratos is. Hercules went through the same trauma as Kratos, but didn't use it as an excuse to destroy everything around him. It would have been a more meaningful story if Kratos killed a calm and composed Hercules who was acting in good faith, and by the time of the Norse Saga Kratos remembers the death of Hercules as one of the people who didn't deserve it. It's a wasted opportunity.
Tf man its fucking 13 yeara ago and dont forget when krator release pandora box every single god get a fear and that basicly the main reason why all of them like that
Kratos: He wanted to be God of War for every reason but the right one. That’s exactly what it was, jealousy and thought he was top dog. Then got humbled real quick. You can tell in God of War 3, Kratos didn’t want to fight him either.
Hercules: Soon I will become the God of War and claim the throne for myself. Kratos: I'm not the God of War anymore, I've been sacked lol. You go ahead man 😃 Hercules: 😃
I still find it bizarre that Hercules and Kratos didn't get along or team up. Hercules has just as much of a reason to hate the Greek deities, ESPECIALLY Zeus and Hera who went out of their way to screw his life up from the start.
It makes sense that they'd fight, since despite the fact that Kratos respects Hercules, Hercules was probably infected with the evil of jealousy from Pandora's Box and was thinking irrationally.
@@JeffCJY Really? Never heard he forgave her for driving him insane leading to the murder of his wife and children that led to him having to do the 12 labors to begin with. Doesn't sound right tbh. But then after he becomes a full deity I don't really know what he does after that so who knows.
@@Kamina.D.Fierce Depends on the rendition I guess. They say he forgave her after he ascended to godhood. Also Hercules rarely holds grudges in IRL myth and it makes sense since the whole point of his 12 labors were to repent on his sin. Also the fact that he can't really do anything to Hera, considering her authority and position as Zeus's wife.
Speaking of siblings it’s strange that we never get to meet Nike, Bia, and Zelus in GoW. Considering they’re Kratos’ sisters and brother in mythology you’d think they’d at least show up as minor characters or bosses at some point or another since the four of them each represent a different aspect of war.

Hercules was boastful he didn't cheap shot Kratos when Kratos was blind but when herc was turned around Kratos cheap shot Herc in the side gut giving Kratos the advantage. Thats why he said Hercules was dangerous and could probably defeat Kratos if he didn't miss the chance to cheap shot him while he was blind.
my fave part of this Hercules is they had Kevin Sorbo voice it, somebody who actually played Hercules in the past, the legendary adventure of Hercules i think it was called
I dont undertand that dlc, it was said in the god of war 3 that when kratos open the pandora box he unlish several males to the world which infected the gods, so any of the gods of olynpus act like thenselfs during god of war 2 and 3 so why that retcon for no reason that all god are evil? Being the fact they are not themselfs during the games
Gods were evil long before the box was opened. Opening pandora box only made them more paranoid. Zeus sent ares and athena for the marked warrior way before pandora box opened, zeus put a curse on kratos' mother so she would turn into a monster if she ever decides to tell kratos about his father. Pandora box was less about evil more about fear.
Kratos giving Hercules a chance to walk away and even turn his back on zues is prob the most old man kratos moment of the Greek games besides him being a dad
Hercules had it coming, he really thought he could kill the same god of war that killed ares, Thanatos, hades, Poseidon, hermes and hercules. What a fool
Props to sony and the game company for hiring "Kevin Sorbo" to play the role of Hercules in this game. Fyi to those who don't know. At the time, Kevin sorbo was playing Hercules in the USA network tv show "Hercules the legendary journeys". People who played the game during release knew, but I don't think people playing it now know that.
not my thought, Someone pointed out that the Kratos doesn't have a regret on Hercules is because he treated his request as a warrior even if all the gods were infected with fear/evil mist thing what ever.
I mean if you really think about it Hercules and Kratos have the same story. Both lost their families to an induced berserk rage given to them by a god. Ares to Kratos, Hera to Hercules and killed their own families. Much like Hercules says, a fierce warrior; both were indeed the fiercest warriors of their time, a killer made hero; they murdered their own families and sought redemption in which also brought them glory for achieving great feats, a man made a god; Hercules became the god of strength after his death and Kratos became god of war. Which is why I think Kratos saw himself in Hercules and could relate to his brother as being much like himself. And that too is why Kratos tried talking to Hercules rather than attacking him on sight.
Not sure why but when I hear Hercules talk, I hear Kevin Sorbo a little bit. Maybe that was the intention when they selected their voice actor for Hercules. To find someone sounding similar to the man who played him in the tv show from the 90s.
This always struck me as extremely weird. At the time RIGHT before they fight, Hercules drops some bombshells on Kratos, informing him that Zeus did indeed pick favourites and Kratos was one. Much to Kratos' surprise. Kratos also allows him to walk away before the fight. Then out of nowhere years later, the more grounded older Kratos shows no regret on killing Hercules when even younger Kratos at the time was apprehensive on killing Herc and he wasn't apprehensive with ANY other God he killed at the time it seems. Somehow young Kratos seems more rational here than any other time during the first God of War games. Both were men made Gods, both were used and toyed with by the Gods, this is why Kratos respected him enough to actually let him live, he was willing to walk away from Herc and even Hera it seems during that scrap as both Herc and Hera hate Zeus for using them as much as Kratos.

He did try to talk Hercules out of it, but he didnt listen. Thats why Kratos has no regrets
@@frankwest5388 tbf he only killed his wife and child because hera basically drugged and brainwashed him
It's interesting fact that Hercules was voiced by Hercules TV series actor, Kevin Sorbo himself.
U MEAN THAT RACIST BIGOT
It's a pity that Kevin turned out to be a shitty person. He could have had a fun time of being a cameo as Hercules...
I gotta play GoW 3 now just so I can get a chance to kill that prick, then
The fact that Kevin Sorbo reprised his role as Hercules was so cool.
I bet when Kratos didn't join him he was DIS APPOINTED!
Oh yeah Zeus was a bastard far before that already his death was definitely deserved
Yeah I don't think killing Zeus was ever unjustified or brought into question, it's more that they delved into that it was fucked up he had to kill his own dad.
@@arbyw.1889 Recall that Mimir (in the previous game) admits that, based on his understanding, quite a few of the gods that Kratos killed in the Greek pantheon deserved it.

1:04 Tyr legit asked u regret killing him. Kratos replied nah I didn’t he was dangerous. Leaving tyr to go like good fuck him 😂
It's great how Tyr, for as peaceful as he is, is still clearly a god of war. Just going 'Yeah, sometimes you gotta kill someone.'
Hercules really said Kratos was his 13th reason why 😅

n-nice one 🥲
LOL thats a good one
To be perfectly fair, Hercules went above and beyond to be a hater when Kratos gave him EVERY opportunity to get out of the way.
god i love hearing the two voices of kratos back to back. its so perfect.
In the end, Hercules would be no better than Ares. Considering his behavior would become a lot like Ares' rampage across the land

@@fishingmasterstudios9481 yep, I pretty much made another meaning to his answer
@@Mortal-Knite indeed
He doesn't regret it because in that moment it was either his life or Hercules, and Kratos at that time literally had no reason to let himself die again or have anyone stand in his way to complete his "goal"
Tyr sounds so condencending and pissed when asking about Hercules.
after hearing Kratos reason as to why, I won’t be surprised if Tyr would end Hercules as well.
Kratos: I killed my half-brother.
Mimir: I'm sure you have plenty more to spare.
Kratos: I killed them too.
1:45 God of war 3 Tc Carson kratos talking taking to Kevin Sorbo from 1995 Hercules The Legendary Journeys❤
1995 ‧ Action ‧ 6 seasons
For what it's worth, the Data East RPG "Glory of Heracles" uses the Greek version of the name.
Fate uses Heracles for what its worth, tho i think the english dub uses "Hercules" so maybe its just an english thing?
I like how Kratos acknowledges the fact the that Heracles was like him in every way, and had to stop him from becoming a god of war that would’ve probably been more dangerous than Ares.
I love the way Kratos says "killing... me".
Kratos was right to put Hercules down like a wild animal.
If not Kratos will be killed
Hercules was with the Male of envy
@@MarcosHenrique-ws7ug Yeah, but he should be grateful that Ares was dealt with.
Kratos the neurosurgeon!
I mean, he give Heracles a chance to back down. Heracles was tragically too blinded with pride and jealousy.
Very prideful knowing his lion aesthetics
The Sins of the Box consumed all, even the ones who didn't deserve them.
Kevin Sorbo voicing Heracles is always a must.
I've often wondered what he thought about how his character gets absolutely slaughtered considering he played hercules in the TV series from 2005
1:37 That psychotic look I I will always remember. God of War...Good times...Great memories.
"The air on Olympus affects your thinking, Brother." 🤣
Herc’s got so many chips on his shoulder, may as well call him HercuLay’s
I really want a scene where Old Kratos goes back in time to God of War 3, he talks to his younger self and convinced him to let him lead the assault on the gods. Then young Kratos sees Old Kratos doing what he can to stop this war, but also never shying away from whoopin @ss. Doesn’t kill them all, just the ones that absolutely refuse to see reason. Maybe even a few surprised faces from the gods seeing a Kratos older than them, & from the future, no less.
That’ll b hard 🔥
The fact that kevin zorbo voiced hercules is amazing
Yup
I mean Heracles is a warrior and to regret killing is not nice at all. Along with the fact that it was Heracles’s duty to stop Kratos and that he was jealous as well.
In the novels, the first pick to kill ares was Heracles but because he was busy with another task, kratos was called over ahahahahhaahah
He told him to walk. Herc had it coming
Kratos gave him a change by saying "this is not between us Hercules". But he never said that he wont kill him
I hated how the God of War games treated Hercules.
Tf man its fucking 13 yeara ago and dont forget when krator release pandora box every single god get a fear and that basicly the main reason why all of them like that
Yep. It kinda sucks when a video game or a movie doesn't accurately follow the myths.
He now doesn’t like Hercules because he is very reminiscent of the past Kratos - cruel, ruthless, selfish. Destroyer without brakes.
Kratos: He wanted to be God of War for every reason but the right one.
That’s exactly what it was, jealousy and thought he was top dog. Then got humbled real quick. You can tell in God of War 3, Kratos didn’t want to fight him either.
When "Hello Brother" was said by Kevin Sorbo........it's still one of the most eerie phrases within the God Of War franchise!!!! 💯💯💯💯💯
Its cool they got the guy who played Hercules in the 90s tv show as this Hercules
Hercules: Soon I will become the God of War and claim the throne for myself.
Kratos: I'm not the God of War anymore, I've been sacked lol. You go ahead man 😃
Hercules: 😃
Kratos had that Mike Tyson fresh out of prison look in his eyes
props for including the Hercules scene
Ill never forget how cold it was just staring down hercules
Tyr has renounced the title god of war and has become the god of therapy,
"The air on Olympus affects your thinking, Brother. Zeus, only favors himself."
Eventgough he doesnt regret killing hurcules its ovious he regrets how he killed him
Back when Kratos was actually fun to play as. Imagine that.
He still is fun to play as, nice try.
Hercules was always blinded by the loyalty for the gods. He respects them greatly in his irl stories, even forgave Hera for what she had done.
@@JeffCJY That "status" sure didn't protect her from Kratos.
Heres an interesting question:
Does Kratos regret killing Hades?
I don't think so
I think he does, not because of Hades himself, but because of the consequences. Same with Poseidon and Hermes

I just loved the detail that Hercules was voiced by Kevin Sorbo, who played the character in the 90s tv show
Yeah I remember. When herc’s face gets fucked up
Pretty badass when I heard Kevin Sorbo the first time
Speaking of siblings it’s strange that we never get to meet Nike, Bia, and Zelus in GoW. Considering they’re Kratos’ sisters and brother in mythology you’d think they’d at least show up as minor characters or bosses at some point or another since the four of them each represent a different aspect of war.
Ahh… God of War 3, that will always be my favorite of the series❤️ more bosses, more gods, more bad ass, more brutal, more violent, more over the top, more of everything ! & thats the 1st three. Hopefully that one rumor of the trilogy being remastered becomes a reality🤞🏼
kratos doesn’t mention it here, but he actually did give hercules a chance to walk away
God of War 3 is peak gaming
Like how they maintained the old GoW version ❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I forgot how hilarious Kratos looked when Hercules was coming out. That looks screams, "this is my life, it sucks, but I'm living it."
Love that subtle eyebrow raise Kratos does when Hercules begins comparing what he was doing while Kratos was on his quest against Ares.
Hercules went from zero to hero back to immediate zero again when he challenged Kratos
Can't help but feel bad for Hercules despite incentive from Kratos
That look at hercules cold af
Hercules was boastful he didn't cheap shot Kratos when Kratos was blind but when herc was turned around Kratos cheap shot Herc in the side gut giving Kratos the advantage.
Thats why he said Hercules was dangerous and could probably defeat Kratos if he didn't miss the chance to cheap shot him while he was blind.
1:37 that face like "I'm getting really tired of this shit"😅
And then Kratos began to reminisce about the time he punched in Hercules's face till he broke the floor they stood on.
I never liked Boss fights that just throw mobs at you instead of a 1v1.
I love this Hera, she's hilariously on point.
Hercules is the only child of Zeus that Kratos considers a sibling.
my fave part of this Hercules is they had Kevin Sorbo voice it, somebody who actually played Hercules in the past, the legendary adventure of Hercules i think it was called
"...you have plenty more to spare" 😅😂😂😂
I have no quarrel with you brother.....
@@dorime3031You can not generalize, Hephaistos and Helios were not evil.
GoW saga has always had amazing writing and on point delivery. Each game exuded the love the devops had for the series
Kratos giving Hercules a chance to walk away and even turn his back on zues is prob the most old man kratos moment of the Greek games besides him being a dad
I was there to Kratos in your time of need
GOW3 was an amazing & fun game. 💪
Hercules had it coming, he really thought he could kill the same god of war that killed ares, Thanatos, hades, Poseidon, hermes and hercules. What a fool
And yet Kratos never knew that Hercules was infected with the evils of Pandora’s Box.
Kratos back in the day had a clear vision , he was not so full of rage as he think he was
Hercules and Kratos would be a dangerous duo
Well...I’m pretty sure they named him Heracles because they got Kevin Sorbo to voice him.
Kratos: "Did I mention as well I made pancakes that day?
Týr: "How??"
Kratos: "by punching hercules' face until it went flat"
I forgot they had Kevin Sorbo voice Hercules.
Tyr`s voice is completely inappropriate.
not my thought, Someone pointed out that the Kratos doesn't have a regret on Hercules is because he treated his request as a warrior even if all the gods were infected with fear/evil mist thing what ever.
He IS voiced by Kevin Sorbo in the game.
@@tylerleach8796 i realized that after i made the comment.
Can't say I blame him. I mean if some Roman God showed up in my game about Greek Gods instead of Heracles I'd have no regrets either. XD
I also have no problem beating Kevin Sorbo
