Yup, It's a fun novelty until the reality of how much grinding is required hits you in the later half. This game is already super fricken huge and long as it is without adding an extra dozen hours of RNG hell and needing to pick off parts precisely.
Here are a few suggestions regarding farming parts. First I’d change the difficulty settings to story and the drop setting to the one that won’t destroy the item. HOWEVER: that no damage to item drops does NOT ALWAYS work. Nerves and other things that are in pouches on the mob will break if the pouch is damaged in any way. So highlight the pounce avoid elemental damage and target AWAY from the pouch. No explosives.
You can still use explosives just (generally) aim your braced shot or whatever at the head or a detachable weapons away from explosive sacs (so bellowbacks, frostclaw, fireclaw or tiderippers=head…tremortusks and thunderjaws=disc launchers/shock blaster thingies
For those whose been grinding for weapons upgrade but stormbird and the dinobat yet to appear on your map, there is one spot off the map, on the mountain right beside the valley with robot spinosaurus and bunch of robot ferrets. The place can spawn apex versions of the dino robots too. Its on the black spot between mountain ranges on your map. Yes, i am bad at describing stuff.
Make sure it’s night time and have it in Very hard difficulty for higher chance of Apex Variant to spawn. Best place to farm shards and for Apex End game materials for upgrades.
And the best part, you can easily take out the Apex Slaughterspine from above. Stay in the mountains and hit him from stealth with braced shot. Then always stay in combat with him so he doesn't run to the other side of the valley. Up on the mountain most of the abilities are avoided. Just shoot until Braced Shot is available and then do that. Rinse and repeat and you'll have enough Apex hearts for anything. And when you're done, you can go to the Stormbird and Dreadwing and fight them in their apex form. You can probably get two kills of each before night is over by going back and forth between the two spots.
just go the area where the hills ar,e and find the tree, next to it is a thing that has some stuff the dinobots have other things and you can just walk or run to the fire stuff and repeat, Hope this HELPS
I used this method in Zero Dawn. That said, try doing that in this game on a base model PS4. Not a PS5. Not a PS4 Pro. Not even a Slim, if that is a factor. A launch-era base model PS4. Great tips but was hoping to learn how to expand the weapon wheel? Every new weapon I get continues to have to replace one that’s currently equipped..what am I doing wrong??
If you are paying shards for berries and ridge wood where did you get the shards? Berries and ridgewood just have to be picked . Shards have to be found in chests or you have to battle machines, how is that better than just picking those items
I didn’t know apex machines only spawn at night. Thanks for pointing that out! Edit: And thanks for pointing out the Easy Loot setting. I need to check if it’s on.
With the instant chance coils, can you stack the coils together? So let's say I put on the legendary brittle coil and the epic one, would the percentages be stacked ontop of each other or would it make no difference
Had an issue with getting apex slaughterspines to spawn. Every other machine has been 100% apex at night. Herd it helps to to set difficulty to very hard before u enter the zone. Not sure if it makes a difference.
Your videos... Your a damn blessing thank you so much. Can you tell me what the skill is where you jump off a enemy and slow motion shot? I don't see that skill anywhere in the skill tree
I just got this game and been enjoying doing everything possible as I progress but I now seem ridiculously over levelled for quest missions like 6 or 7 levels higher, does this matter? I'm playing in very hard if that matters.
Im only 22hrs in 15% lol taking my Time doing everything my current gear n weapons can get me than I do the main mission in that area than move on lol done one culdron loving this game
Wow I think I went even slower than that. lol I think it took me a lot longer to hit 15%. I remember that percentage barely moving for the longest time. I'm at 57.48% and I only have the last story mission left to do but I went really slow. The game clock will keep going if you're on certain screens so like I have fallen asleep while in the workbench and vendor menus. So my game clock in the game itself says I've played for 241 hours! Lmao I've definitely sunk a ton of hours into this game but I think that's just a little off. 😂
The way I farm parts at camps is that I just save and upload the file. However, as I have found out, Apex machines don't respawn so easily. That becomes a pain. I've had to wait for morning at the camp, save and upload, wait for night and save and load. And I'm doing this on PS4. I'm sure 5 wouldn't be so bad. As for the ridge wood and berries, I pick them up. Especially the berries since you pick up rare plants in the process as well for other potions.
6:52, when you're talking about Apex machines, there was never any Apex machines in the first game, so when you said "pretty much like in the first game" that's not true, and even if you want to try and say that it started in the DLC (the frozen wilds), that's not true either, the deamonic machines was just a result of hephaestus
When RUclipsrs post videos on every single game that comes out you can bet that they don’t actually care for the game or it’s lore just the content it allows them to make I mean this guys probably on easy difficulty talking about how he doesn’t like picking up wood smh

Sometimes I feel like Easy Loot doesn't work for me - specifically when I've created a job for upgrade parts. Needed a Leaplasher spark thing and had to go to three sites (after killing them all at the first two) and it's only when I detached it at the third that I got the part. Also trying to stop Bellowbacks from exploding and preventing me from getting that part as well 😅
I had this issue trying to get he sac webbing from fireclaws. My issue was whenever I used the blastsling frost bombs it would end up exploding the sac. Once I got the legendary bow (from the first forge rebel camp) makes it way easier to apply effects and not effect certain parts. So I use this bow with the boltblaster.
No offense, but you just run through ridgewood and press triangle. I have more Ridgewood than I know what to do with. Wasting money on it is ridiculous. Just change your setting so that you don't have to stop and pick it up. I habe over 2,000 in inventory
Thank you. Ive been trying to get parts to upgrade and I detach the parts I need with tear precision ammo and still haven't been getting what I need great game overall but this has been super annoying
@@HamsterXFiles yeah I turned on the setting where you keep enemy difficulty the same but loot drop is on easy. And yeah legendary shit is too much of a grind. I used too many resources even after I turned on easy loot just to take down all the apex machines. I love the game but that was annoying
So, very good video, but idk if its just for me, but i dont need to buy berries or that wood. Because im that type of player, that always collects almost everything that i see. I got more than 3400 Wood and 3000 berries in my stock.
I rushed through the game and got to the final boss fight at level 26 and couldn’t beat it for the life of me. Had to go back and reload an old save and now doing side quests and missions to level up. Side quests and upgrading gear is extremely boring to me I don’t even know where to start
Depends on the component. Without easy loot on, some components are destroyed when the machine is killed and persist if you knock them off before killing the machine. However, other components persist when the machine is killed and are completely removed if they’re destroyed before the machine is killed. (The notebook tells you which is which, alternatively, you can look at a component through the Focus to determine it’s properties.)
I gotta say it's really not that hard to farm ridge-wood. I pick up a little here and there as I play and with only 50% of the game completed I still have well over 5000 in my stash. I don't spend a lot of time farming it but I do pick up a few here and there as I'm playing. If you look along river edges and bodies of water, this is where you will find large clumps of ridge-wood together that stack up fast. Especially if you have the skill to obtain more resources when looting.
So are Coils & Weaves now only obtainable from the Hunters & Stitchers or can they still be found as enemy drops or in scrap piles? Please let me know, thanks!
@@williamallen7386 What are you talking about? He said they could be bought at Hunters & Stitchers, he never said a word about whether Coils could be found on machines or not. He said that weaves can be dropped by those specific ones but what about all of the other machines in the entire game? And what about weapon coils? Does everything drop coils still? That was my question that I clearly asked. Go away, quit interrupting me with your nonsense. Shoo Shoo.
@@skins4thewin Well after the response you gave the other person I'm not so sure I want to try to help but yes you can get coils and weaves from machines but they're random drops and the best coils and weaves come from vendors. Thornmarsh is one of the best ones. Also the arena has really good ones. I think as far as machines, the best coils and weaves might come from the apex machines. But I have no plans to farm for coils and weaves because you'll spend tons of resources and you might get garbage coils and weaves. I'm level 46 at the end of the story and I have lots of very rare coils and weaves. I don't even use them all. In my opinion it's just not worth farming for coils and weaves. You'll have to fight a bunch of higher level machines and apex machines to get upgrade parts so you'll get come coils and weaves while doing that. Buy the best ones though. Vendors are definitely the way to go.
You can still destroy them. You just don't have to remove components to be able to loot them. Removing components still does lots of damage so it's still worth doing when possible. And I'm not sure if the components that say they're destroyed when the machine dies if you don't remove them are still destoyed. I think they are still destroyed when it dies.
OK question is. If u have to kill all the top tier enemies for top gear. Why even upgrade them? Bc u already beating top enemies, so what's point of max level gear? Just to do same thing you are already doing?
It's done. Announced the winner on twitter :) Edit: There's still this one; www.instant-gaming.com/en/giveaway/KHRAZE I think they also have Dying Light 2 in the list
Didn't you notice that the weapon wheel expands as you get new weapons at the beginning of the game and then it stops? What made you think you can do something to carry more weapons and the game just never told you? And why would you need more than 6 weapons? 6 is a lot. With that I can carry 2 sharpshot bows with different ammo types, 2 hunter bows with different ammo types, a spike thrower and a blastsling. Why would you need more than that? At least this game doesn't limit you to 1 or 2 of each weapon type. A RUclipsr I watched play this game carried 5 hunter bows and 3 of them had acid arrows because he made stupid choices and never got purple bows that more ammo types. If you look around and make good choices about which weapons to buy and use you can make sure you have a good selection of weapons without having 2 or 3 with the same ammo types like that stupid RUclipsr I mentioned.
It would be nice, but I think that they balanced it out pretty well in that you can keep your mount so long as it's alive. It's really easy to get Chargers and the other mountable machines are generally pretty easy to get as well.
@@Frankenslide Actually there are some things that when you go to craft them it'll say like it requires 2 volatile sludge to craft and it shows I have 71 which of course is not the max amount you can carry. That's the combined amount I have between my pouch and my stash. Most things will only show you as having what's in your pouch which when fully upgraded is 15 but advanced shock arrows and advanced explosive spikes show me what I have in my stash and pouch. I'm almost positive it does take from the stash for those particular things. I'd assume this is a mistake that may get corrected in the future but I definitely not reporting! 😂

@@DogNinja1o1 omg yesss! It took me forever to finally get those dang sac webbing lol I was really confused how to get them. Finally figured out how like an hour layer. 😭
Yup, It's a fun novelty until the reality of how much grinding is required hits you in the later half. This game is already super fricken huge and long as it is without adding an extra dozen hours of RNG hell and needing to pick off parts precisely.
I have so much wood and berries in my stash that I'll never have to worry about buying them lol
I am stealing all these names. Let me know if you got more.
You can also reset spawns by saving at a nearby campfire, then restarting from a save.
Worked for me when I was farming.
I used this method in Zero Dawn. That said, try doing that in this game on a base model PS4. Not a PS5. Not a PS4 Pro. Not even a Slim, if that is a factor. A launch-era base model PS4. Allmother preserve us, I honestly thought that I would have a PS5 by now. Blasted Pandemic, and this Pandemic of Scalpers! 🤬
@@Starcat5 I do this on base PS4, not that big of deal.
@@antiloser-NFS Agreed. My major issue so far are the races. I keep getting loading screens near the end, which throws me off enough for one of the Rubber Band racers to swoop ahead and cost me the run. The first race took me an hour to finally beat, and I haven't picked up the nerve to try the next one in the list yet.
@@Starcat5 Interesting i didn't have any load issues with the races. I finished the first 3 in 1 try each. the 4th took like 50 tries. I do have some load issues when traveling by foot and sunwing sometimes.
@@antiloser-NFS Hmm... Maybe my PS4 is getting old. If I leave Gaia's chambers too quickly I run the risk of falling through the map because I reach the living area before the floor actually loads. I currently have to wait at the stairs for about 2~3 seconds before it is safe to proceed.
Perfect timing I reached level 30 and story is still at endless sand been farming like crazy for pouch upgrades and legendary mats for weps and armors haha
Im at lv 30 and i was unlocking the overriding note: when you have a strong ride/mount dont over ride anything it will replace the mount
To me not wanting to grind up berries or Ridgewood is just lazy. I pick up every single thing I see always.
Exactly why waste shards when you can gather for free?
I can't believe you buy berries. I picked up hundreds of them randomly just going from point A to B.
More important, enjoy the game and dont rush.
Hey least apex some out at night.
@@Anedime rushing is for idiots
You can deactivate the picking animation so picking up items is the same as Ghost of Tshushima. VERY simple. Just press the triangle and Aloy will just absorb the items.
Ooo! Do you know where that is in the settings?
I did that for the first game, it was amazing.
Put the game on hard or very hard and easy loot feels like a reward lol.
I did the same and its insane if u have 6 opponents and u can still kill in stylish way and get all ur upgrade Material easy loot in everything veryhard settings feels amazing. And i can upgrade green and blue items at full without come in struggle with mats ;).
Im Still at the first chamber(im at story where ur Base is)where u get ur first ....dont know the englisch word for it....
What a guide, teaches you how to buy Ridge wood and berries.. amazing!
I noticed that spike throwers don't seem to destroy valuable components as easily, yet the blast sling absolutely shreds them. That's yet another benefit to the spike thrower it seems!
The legendary gear I’ve fully upgraded so far are the Carja and Stalker outfits, and hunter bow. All from the arenas. I’m going for the Tenatkth Tactitian.
Wait what, you can loot from the arenas??
@@Z53k you can, if there are multiple machines. Just loot whatever you've killed before you finish the last machine off, because you can't loot the final kill.
im still using that hunter bow it literally kills every single machine and im at level
26 with story almost finished
You unlock the bulwark earlier then the hidden ember and the healing berries that they sell is your pouch room!
I really miss the Stormslinger from Frozen Wilds
how on earth do you run out of ridge wood? now i don't go out of my way to collect it, but i still have like 5 or 6k in my stash... don't waste your shards on wood you can find literally everywhere while you're running around.
Dude probably fast travels everywhere lol
Grinding spikes (I don’t remember the actual name). They make the larger machines fairly easy if you target the legs, r I should say it makes getting hard to hit components off.
Absolutely nice vids u are doing.
But theres a question left.
Which coils do u use on which weapon?
You can still accidentally destroy components with easy loot and if you do it wont be available when you kill the machine.
Yeah, this sucks like hell.
Would like to see the best purple items in the game
Go for legendary, they not difficult to get neither
Yeah but ilegendarys are just a bit boring since theres so few of them
@@samgaines3979 there's a legendary weapon for each weapon type, There's even two types of hunter bows, how much more do you need? Pretty sure there's more legendary weapons that the amount of weapons you can have on a gear wheel.
Legendary outfits are superior to Very Rare. With weapons, the only real advantage is more coils. Some weapons don't have Legendary versions but are still useful.
@@nightdriver7216 have you maxed out the legendary weapons yet? They are far superior to purple weapons in every way, just having more coils like you said already makes them more powerful but they get extra stats with each upgrade level and just generally deal alot more damage than purples, also there is atleast one legendary weapon for each weapon type except for the spear.
Hunterbow - Sun Scourge and Deathseeker's shadow
Sharpshot - Forgefall
Warrior bow - Carjas' bane
Boltblaster - Blast forge
Spike thrower - Skykiller
Blast sling - Wings of the Ten
Shredder Gauntlet - Ancestor's Return (personal favourite weapon)
Trip caster - tinker's pride
I dunno how ridgewood was an issue. I farmed a random bunch SUPER early on. Just grabbing some here snd there as i walked past. I havent picked up any in the last 50 hours (60 total ingame) and i have shit loads still?
If you need medicinal berries go to The Stand of the Sentinels tall neck there you can find lots of these berries watch out for the stalkers tho
Subscribed because of the excellent edit! 😍
I started selling the blocks because none of the Salvagers seemed to respawn new epic level resources. Once you buy them, they are permanently out of stock!
Great tips but was hoping to learn how to expand the weapon wheel? Every new weapon I get continues to have to replace one that’s currently equipped..what am I doing wrong??
Can you make a video on how to grind the area next? I am wondering if there are easier ways to do the challenges.
Just put the difficulty on story mode and you will complete all the challenges in 15min
@@elitev8888 or try to be better
If you are paying shards for berries and ridge wood where did you get the shards? Berries and ridgewood just have to be picked . Shards have to be found in chests or you have to battle machines, how is that better than just picking those items
all great bt:i cannot fathom running low on wood and berries....unless you using hunter bows for dps on ultra hard or wha???
I didn’t know apex machines only spawn at night. Thanks for pointing that out!
Edit: And thanks for pointing out the Easy Loot setting. I need to check if it’s on.
I think they can spawn at other times, but they are more likely to spawn at night.
@@antiloser-NFS i find them during the day, and not when I want to
can you buy parts for upgrade or do you have to get ỉt from killing machine?
With the instant chance coils, can you stack the coils together? So let's say I put on the legendary brittle coil and the epic one, would the percentages be stacked ontop of each other or would it make no difference
Thanks for video! Do you know where we can buy coil/weave for WEAPON STAMINA + (capacity) very rare or legendery???🤔
Had an issue with getting apex slaughterspines to spawn. Every other machine has been 100% apex at night. Herd it helps to to set difficulty to very hard before u enter the zone. Not sure if it makes a difference.
are we playing the same game? I have thousands of ridge wood and healing berries and I haven't actively farmed them even once
Your videos... Your a damn blessing thank you so much. Can you tell me what the skill is where you jump off a enemy and slow motion shot? I don't see that skill anywhere in the skill tree
Its in the warrior tree
Go do the melee pit in the center of the map and it will teach you all the melee combos
I find myself running out of green shire resources on buyin the coils, better to get them in the wild
As far as I know, I've completed all Errands, Side Quests, etc. I still need a few skill points to finish my last two skills. Any suggestions?
6:52, when you're talking about Apex machines, there was never any Apex machines in the first game, so when you said "pretty much like in the first game" that's not true, and even if you want to try and say that it started in the DLC (the frozen wilds), that's not true either, the deamonic machines was just a result of hephaestus
When RUclipsrs post videos on every single game that comes out you can bet that they don’t actually care for the game or it’s lore just the content it allows them to make I mean this guys probably on easy difficulty talking about how he doesn’t like picking up wood smh

Which vendor sells the shell snapper nerves? Help appreciated
Do tough enemies still drop multiple good weapon coils like in the 1st game?
can apex machines also drop very rare coils or is it just weaves?
So I use this bow with the boltblaster.
why are arena medals not being awarded when you complete prevous challenges im not getting anything and i have completed in the limited time frame
No offense, but you just run through ridgewood and press triangle. I have more Ridgewood than I know what to do with. Wasting money on it is ridiculous. Just change your setting so that you don't have to stop and pick it up. I habe over 2,000 in inventory
How long until New Game+ or Nemesis Expansion. That's when this stuff will really shine.
Forcing player into Arena with time limit to get the best gears is a let down.
Thank you for the tips very helpful
Right off the bat, talking about buying ridgewood tells me we are very different players
@KhrazeGaming I bought an epic 15% crit. chance coil but forgot where I got it... Do you know the vendor by any chance?
Most likely thornmarsh from what I've found that's the best vendor in the game
Ridgewood? I have way more ridgewood than I will ever need just by picking up a few as I'm going from place to place
Thank you. Ive been trying to get parts to upgrade and I detach the parts I need with tear precision ammo and still haven't been getting what I need great game overall but this has been super annoying
Turn on easy Mode, I don't care because Lengendary weapons requirements are god damn bullshit and there are like a bunch of them.
@@HamsterXFiles yeah I turned on the setting where you keep enemy difficulty the same but loot drop is on easy. And yeah legendary shit is too much of a grind. I used too many resources even after I turned on easy loot just to take down all the apex machines. I love the game but that was annoying
4:02 gotta remember that spot for the coils don’t mind this comment
Ive been saving those blocks since I started playing. I have at least 100.
Dayum.... What sort of trap did you use that depleted that Thunderjaw of half it's HP in one single blast??
I think if you destroy the components you’re after, then easy loot doesnt give them to you so be careful
Just scan the machine. It tells you which parts drop on death, and which only drop by knocking the piece off. Tearblast arrows make that a joke.
Good work !
Spike thrower is so good
I gotta say it's really not that hard to farm ridge-wood.
He answered that question in the video. Pay attention!
@@died4u525 Thx for the help. What response are you referring to?
It sucks how the developers didn't put the mod farming mechanic this game as well
Holy shit you can turn off components being destroyed? You’re awesome.

Hey how do I unlock more weapon slots I beat the game and can’t figure it out please n thanks
You can't. Only 6 slots for all wapons. Higher tier weapons have more types of ammo with different type of damage each.
Is there any super armour yet like previous game

How can I get a small machine core??
I wish you can keep your mount even if you lose it in battle
It would be nice, but I think that they balanced it out pretty well in that you can keep your mount so long as it's alive. It's really easy to get Chargers and the other mountable machines are generally pretty easy to get as well.
I forage everything I come across and have most resources in abundance. No need to buy anything if you just turn off the animation.
buying ridgewood is stupid, it is so plentiful and is not that hard to gather.
Anybody know when you craft it uses parts from stash too ? Or does it say you need a certain part , even if its in ur stash ?
If the items are in your stash, and you do not have them on you, it will not allow you to craft.
