Both are masters, and each is expressing themselves. As someone who has played this form for ten years and has practiced sword arts for 30 I can see strength and balance in both. I respect both and also agree that men are not "gods". This is skill that is born from hard work and daily practice. I see Tai Chi Chuan principles in both.

Fu is definitely light years ahead of YJ. It’s understandable since YZD learned his taiji from a book and not from his father YCF (who died when he was 9 btw).

Not pretending to be an expert here. Both of them performed it significantly different to their grand father. When performing in an event, usually there is a time constraint. For academic purpose, you can do it at any pace.

One of them is not using a floppy thin piece of metal.

Yang Jun is using his arms to move the sword. Fu Qing Quan is using his body. Sword with Yang Jun does not experience "fajin" in any moment, meanwhile Fu Qing Quan obtained it several times (certain transitions). Yang Jun seems more like a choreography. There are two clearly different performances of the same art

I don't know if you can tell but Yang Jun uses a realistically weighted sword, which is not going to move like the one that Fu Qingquan uses.

@@ShredST It is not the sword that moves but the body of the one who uses It.

@@marianoparedesmedina1983 A thin Wushu sword has its balance point in the hilt, which means it's in your hand almost. A realistically weighted sword is balanced more forward in the blade, so it'll move differently in relation to the body. Watch a higher quality video of Yang Jun doing the sword form like ruclips.net/video/Ms70mmw5skA/видео.html and you can see the blade subtly vibrating from fajin at 1:39.

This clip shows in a clear way that (nowadays) tai chi masters are not gods and their understanding oft he art his questionable and limited. So the Tai Chi Principles are the real masters (unlimited), not individuals.

Both of these people are about as close to Master is there is. Fu Qing Quan is the grandson of Fu Zong Win and Jang Jun is the grand son of Yang Zhenduo. Both have practice Tai Chi since they were children, both were trained by their Grandfathers, both are the directors of the largest International Tai Chi organizations in the world, both are respected and honored as Tai Chi Masters in China.

Seems obvious the Fu is the real deal。 Any recommendations for teachers in his lineage in Northern Virginia?

I hate the term master and don't think it should be applied to them or almost anybody. I really like the form of the guy to the right. Looks really good to me and he's probably on his way to becoming a real taichi master.

David Martinez me too, the guy on the right is my teachers son Fu Qing Quan. As for the comparison what can I say it speaks for it self

While in these demonstrations we see the great skill of both performers, we do see differences in their own interpretations of the same routine. Period; that's all we can really say. The common teacher in their lineages is Yang Chengfu. Yang Jun is a blood descendant of Yang Chengfu. We must note that there is a big difference in age and experience between the performers in the clips. This Yang Jun's performance dates from the mid-90s, when he was in his late teens or early twenties. With perhaps 25 years since this clip, Yang Jun has flourished and become a far more experienced martial artist. The clip of Fu Qing Quan is possibly a more recent one, and he is clearly already a much more seasoned martial artist than Yang Jun was in his clip. So I contend that a comparison of the two performances in order to say that Fu is "better" is a futile exercise at best and quite malintentioned at worst.

Yang Jun is not a blood relative of Yang Cheng Fu.
