Watering once a week is just a rough guide. I live in the UK and you would not want to water that much, apart from in the Summer.

You can not water once a week mine is indoors it would kill it

Do you have a recommendation for kind of soil for repotting? Also any recommendations for what kind of fertilizer?

The water shall be distilled or filtered water as tap water damage the leaf structure!
