  • From the Radiolab podcast: A series of stories about first breaths, last breaths and all the breaths in between.
We’ve just barely made it to the other side of a year that took our collective breaths away. So more than ever we felt that this was the time to go deep on life’s rhythmic dance partner. We huff and we puff through a whole stack of stories about breath and breathing. We talk to scientists, musicians, activists and breath mint experts, and try to climb into the very center of this thing we all do and are all doing right now, and now, and now.
This episode was reported and produced by Annie McEwen, Matt Kielty and Molly Webster.
Featured guests include: Rishi Desai, a pediatric infectious disease doctor; Mark Krasnow, professor of biochemistry at Stanford University; Justin Hansford, a law professor at Howard University; Anna Feigenbaum, an associate professor of digital media and communication at Bournemouth University; Marcia Mogelonsky, director of insight at Mintel Food and Drink; Alice Wong, a disabled activist, writer and all-around troublemaker; Mosi Secret, a journalist; students from the Brooklyn Music School; the return of Robert Krulwich, retired Radiolab co-host; Annie Brown, an audio producer at The New York Times; and archival clips of Funkmaster Flex, a DJ; and rapper Black Thought.

for anyone who doesn't know, low oxygenated blood is not blue. all blood is red. its just a darker shade of red with less oxygen.
Blue is just used for illustration purposes.

It's been quite a while since I have listened to an entire Radiolab episode....I realized how much I miss listening to y'all. Recently I was at a Home Depot and I was approached by one of those appointment setters(for solar) We got into a conversation and what she said she was doing was focusing on her breathing...When she said this I, of course, started to focus on my breathing and I noticed that I was out of breath....almost hyperventilating. At that moment I realized that this occasionally happened when I met new people. Sometimes I would lose my breath so much it would become hard to talk and I would have to stop and take a few breaths to be able to speak again....hmmm this is a more recent phenomenon with me...just a little story I thought I would share.

Molly gives life to a story. What happened to her. If you let her go,. you made a bad decision. She is like Robert and Jad.

I miss the old RadioLab. When it wasn't laced with Democrat agendas....

I miss the old RadioLab as well...but for many different reasons. It seems like some of the hosts/producers have gotten into the habit of working their personal agendas into the "storyline", or (even worse), using those agendas to create ENTIRE episodes. Misusing (& misrepresenting) the platform to peddle their ideas, their goods, etc. to thousands of unwitting listeners for personal profit / personal gain is just....GRIMY.
I haven't quit them YET, but I don't listen or encourage others to listen nearly as often as I did before.
