The final story of this episode is absolutely amazing. It brings so much feeling of wonder, awe, and emotion. It is what makes radiolab truly unique and incredible.
Glad this made the “starter kit” list. This is easily one of the best episodes of radiolab. One of my other favorites is “blame.” I’d love to see that one make the list! Also I was glad to see “60 words” on here.
I've experienced what Emily experienced, however not as a result of trauma, but to sedatives/tranquilizers. once. I laid there both awake and asleep. I was even speaking through the boundaries between sleep and wake (on purpose, as opposed to sleep talking). My speech was slurred and it was tremendously difficult to bridge to gap, but the words still came out. It is fascinating to learn that this same experience can occur in traumatic brain injuries. Obviously there is some crossover between the effects of the tranquilizer and the particular pathology associated with Emily's injuries. The difference was that I was doing it on purpose, like a lucid dream and Emily had no choice. How does one become trapped in a wall? Can we do it on purpose?
The Emily story always blows me away and makes me cry. Which is exactly why I have it recorded on tape off the radio 😊. I'm so happy to know there's another episode where she gets to see again!
Terrible to generalize that a professor at a college/university couldn't give you accurate direction. Also, being indoors poses no problem with direction. One should always know the door they walked in when entering a new building.

Thank you so much and thanks for listening!
it was so sad but so wholsome because of the resolution
By far one of the best episodes of Radiolab, I still remember how I feel when I first listen to it.
Difficult to pick out the best episode with Radiolab
The bit where you expect Jad to say the pigeon was motivated by love but he actually says it was jealous rage... That hits my funny bone
One of my favorite eps. Why I fell in love with Radiolab in the first place.

Thanks so much for your note and for the Blame suggestion. Stay tuned!

Fantastic episodes
You guys are unique. I have difficulty adjusting to the new team. You shouldn't let M. Webster go. She is the one who can replace you.
classic episode!
Nice episode but too many ads. I don't think I'll be listening again on RUclips.

Hippocampus...this part of the brain gets affected anti-depressants.
Potty training Jen.
I don't listen to Radiolab because of the unnecessary cute commentators. Just tell the cool stories. We do not need you to share your wit.
Live a little bro, it won’t hurt.
