It's Heidi from Garden Crossings in Zeeland, MI who says SunPatiens don't like fertilizer. They are an online and retail garden center. They always grow a large drift of SunPatiens in their backyard. And they are beautiful! They just did a video and planted many SunPatiens in their Signature Garden. Looking forward to seeing your flowers in the pots grow throughout the season.

We planted two curly willow trees about 12 years ago that we started from pencil size twigs out of a flower arrangement. They are now about 30 feet tall and about 2 ft dia at the base. Have to prune them hard every year. Good luck with them.

Erin, this is a great video! It addresses the same challenges I've had in finding/choosing plants. The combination of plants for your driveway pots is gorgeous, and I look forward to updates as the season progesses. I am choosing to do lots of pots this year, and raised planters, partly to avoid (hopefully) dealing with jumping worms. Like you, designing containers has become a passion. Thanks for bringing us along!

Greeting's from Ireland, Great video and beautiful curly willow's. We have fifty eight pot's and four flower beds in a small front garden and out back there is a glasshouse and no dig garden bed's. My wife has no interest in gardening and has told me the front garden look's like a mini garden centre. Fifty two pot's are perennial's and six are for annual's for the front windowsill's. My project for next autumn is a no dig flower bed. I have lot's of perennial's in pot's that I can split. I make my own compost in a three bay system and should have enough for extra flower bed's.

I live in Ohio and I planted a curls willow close to my deck because it had such great branches. It was in the shrub section at Lowes and the tag said it would only grow about 8 feet tall. That thing was either tagged wrong or it loved its location because it grew to be about 25 feet tall within about 3 years🤦🏻‍♀️ and I eventually had to cut it down after 10 years of it being planted because it was totally wrong for the space. Now I’m always second guessing what any plant tag says😂🤭

  • @KP-gw5zv

What beautiful containers. Just a small note, for the impatients, I for one did not read the tag one season and I planted these plants in my north side of the townhouse. I water and fertilized these plants just about every other day. They became huge and thicker and taller then what they were suppose to. The comment that I got from many people was: " Where did you get those plants? I sure would love to have them in my shade garden." I had to laugh and then reply, " I have fertilized them every other day. They do not grow this way." My mistake more or less. They did last pretty much the whole season until the harsh frost. At the time I was living in a zone 5 now I live in a zone 7/8. Have a wonderful day.

    Hi Erin,
I planted a Crawley willow in our front yard some 10 years ago. That bush turned into a beautiful 30’ tree , we kept it trimmed up so we could actually walk underneath it like a regular willow tree! We did have to take it down at that point because it was just a holy mess but that was our fault for letting it go wild. I bought another one and this one I’m gonna keep it in check at about 10 to 15 feet. They are absolutely lovely , I think you’re going to enjoy yours too❤

Puget Sound 8a here. I use licorice vine every year in containers, both the chartreuse and the grey. They can grow to 4 ft+; I tip prune early to get a bushier look but by October, some are still 3 ft. I often use in hanging baskets for this reason. Pest free. Not successful wintering over, tho; wish I knew how to propagate tender tip cuttings.
