    It's insane to me that the rest of the US is hotter than us here in FL! I love the heat, not sure I can do triple digits tho! BTW, make a huge pot of coffee, put it in the fridge & pour some in icecube trays too. Enjoy iced coffee all week!

    • @chrisleon9769
      @chrisleon9769  7 месяцев назад +2

      Yes it feels like an oven when you step outside. I Love iced coffee but whenever I try making it, it never tastes like the store bought or Sonic. I really need to practice making it at home to save money. I’ll have to try the ice cube trays with coffee!!

  • @carolinaterri3569
    @carolinaterri3569 7 месяцев назад +3

    A 20lb bag of rice is a little over $11 and a 20lb bag of jasmine rice is just under $17 at Walmart in South Carolina. That's a reasonable price if buying larger quantities is something you'd opt for. The prices where you are should be comparable.

    • @chrisleon9769
      @chrisleon9769  7 месяцев назад +3

      @@carolinaterri3569 I hardly ever go to Walmart here because it’s expensive and the parking lot is horribly packed and people rush up on you trying to sell stuff or possibly rob so I avoid it. I’ll check Costco or smart n final.

    • @carolinaterri3569
      @carolinaterri3569 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@chrisleon9769 Oh, gosh. Terrible that people try to sell stuff as you try to get in a store. I haven't been in a Walmart since before the C V. If I go, it's to do the pickup so I don't have to go in. It's a zoo inside unless it's 6am.

    • @chrisleon9769
      @chrisleon9769  7 месяцев назад +2

      @@carolinaterri3569 Yes ours is really bad. It's usually people from other countries that will rush you with, trying to sell tamales or fruits or handmade stuff and they are super aggressive. It's illegal to do that here but they don't care and you're trying to get in your car and they try to block or look in vehicles and I just have to tell them, NO, get away! So I prefer to shop at smaller stores where I can park right in front and go inside quick. That's why you never see me do Walmart hauls because that place is so bad here. There's a lot of homeless that live in that parking lot too and they are fine, they don't bother anyone, they try to blend in and not be noticeable. It's the illegals that rush you.

    • @carolinaterri3569
      @carolinaterri3569 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@chrisleon9769 Soliciting at stores is illegal here, too, but tamales sounds kinda good. lol Yes, I know some places have been overwhelmed with illegals and there's a lot of crime. Organized criminal gangs. I don't think there's been huge sums of them illegals sent here but I'm sure some have. I know California, New York, Texas and Chicago are beyond capacity with them and overwhelmed. I'd be staying close to home and taking extra precautions, too. We should all be nowadays.

    Great haul! I hope you don’t have a rolling blackout with power. Gotta stay cool. Do you have fans?

    • @chrisleon9769
      @chrisleon9769  7 месяцев назад +2

      Northern Calif is having a lot of blackouts right now. Luckily where I live we don't get too many and if we do it's not for too long. As long as I keep fridge and freezer closed, it's ok. I have ice chests if it goes out longer than 6 hours. Yes I have fans and I have a power source I keep charged up so I can plug my fans, phone, laptop... in if power goes out. I'm keeping my phone and laptop charged up so If I have to use it then I only need to plug in light or fans to it.

    • @KellyD-tj8tl
      @KellyD-tj8tl 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@chrisleon9769 gosh, the “feels like” temp here is 106. Crazy that you guys will have that for a week or more at a time. It’s brutal! I’m glad you are being smart to keep your phone and laptop charged, so you can conserve your power source for fans. Our ac went out last summer, so I kept blinds closed all day, covered my glass back door with a beach towel, and set up three fans. It actually stayed rather cool over the weekend while the ac guy had a part flown in to fix our unit. I also keep our phones and iPads charged up, and have an extra power unit I keep charged that will run the phones if needed. I keep extra water bottles frozen in the freezer, just put them in any space I can and that helps keep things cold if power goes out. I’m hoping you won’t have a power outage. Take care and stay cool my friend!

    • @chrisleon9769
      @chrisleon9769  7 месяцев назад +2

      @@KellyD-tj8tl the electric co I have service through announced they will Not have any power outages during this heatwave. I live in SoCal area so I’ll have power, except for random vehicle accidents that knock out power lines. Now the people that live in Northern California a lot are having power outages. Our weather has been 109 to 118 for 2 weeks now & forecast is another week maybe longer. Yesterday was 113 and didn’t cool off to 95 til 11pm. I had to have air on all night. The few hours it does cool down there’s no way you can cook or it’ll heat up the apartment to unbearable heat, even in the morning. What is bad is the constant heat really drains me. I’m sure the young people don’t feel it but for us older people, it is soo draining. This is going on 3 weeks triple digits now.

    • @KellyD-tj8tl
      @KellyD-tj8tl 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@chrisleon9769 I am so glad they won’t cut your power. That could be so dangerous for people to be without air, or fans. I’m the same way you are, the heat drains me. We had some storms roll through earlier tonight, and it dropped the temps from 100 to about 80. Such a nice break from the heat! I’m not cooking much either, not wanting to do the oven unless I have to.
