For crying out loud, we didn't get Sasaki. Never really had a chance. Let's move on. Sign Flaherty as a starter, Give Pete an ultimatum. If he balks or dicks around., sign Santander and Bregman. End of story. A gold glover at 3rd, Vientos moves to 1st and a switch-hitting DH that can launch. Rotation: Manea, Senga, Flaherty, Peterson, Montaz/Megill, Butto/Holmes. If they trade for Castillo or Cease, fine...otherwise, that's a respectable rotation.
I agree 1000%. The quants don't like him, but they didn't like him in 2022 or 2023 either, and he keeps getting the job done. He was brilliant in September and October 2024. Without him, this team misses the playoffs.
McNeil likes golf too much. He decided to make his bat a pitching wedge and that hasn't worked for him. The problem is......every time he gets a hit with his PITCHING WEDGE he feels like he just won the US Open. Somebody needs to make him take the pitching wedge out of his bag
The problem we have with the pitching is that we have 13 pitchers with either no options or that should not worry about being optioned to AAA this year: the 4 with options are Kodai, Peterson, Reed Garrett and Dedniel Nunez. Manaea, Montas, Holmes, Blackburn and Canning along with Butto, Danny Young and SRF cannot be optioned. Tylor Megill might not even start in the majors because he's able to be optioned. Now, I don't think SRF is long for the roster, and he'll probably be hurt anyway, he always is, but roster lock is a problem. If we can trade for a Castillo or Cease, fine go get him Stearns. But to sign Quintana means parting with someone else, maybe trading Blackburn, and then are we really that much better?
Pete was a great Met but he broke my heart most of the time, I was totally shocked when he came through, but mostly it’s he’s defense that scares me the mostly. My favorite Mets is second to Tom Seaver is Keith defense and average
Leave 130 and opt outs on the table for Alonso and in the meantime the Mets should move on ! They should start strengthening the bullpen and sign Santander !
The Mets roster.....at this moment.....has no chance of competing with the Dodgers. They MUST add a top of the rotation starter and a good bullpen arm....at minimum.....if the Soto move is going to be justified and change the way baseball looks at the Mets organization. Cohen did something that the Wilpons never would have done...in signing Soto.....but the Wilpons would have done exactly what Cohen did since that move..... which is nothing SO FAR.
Evan what does history have to do with anything, we have one of the best players in baseball are we going to waste all that money we gave Soto to be a wildcard every year
And if the Mets really want to be the Dodgers... the sign Pete back and still go after Vlad. That's why LA does. They had Seager and said "let's get Trea Turner anyway, we'll figure it out" they just add and add and worry about positions later. Mookie at 2B for instance. They make it happen.
The bullpen needs to be worked on if this going to be our starters
Pete had one big hit last year his hrs we when it didn’t matter,
Hey Evan and Pete: Let's have this conversation on February 12th. We ain't done yet...and you can take that to the bank!

I still do not understand how they did not offer walker buehler a better contract than what he got.
At least matched it
I'm just as surprised when I don't win megamillions or powerball
Why not Quintana? Why is no one talking about Luis?!?!?!!?
I hope the door is open for Quintana too.

I was telling my friends that Nimmo will never be a lead off hitter, years ago
I'm not surprised about Sasaki, but I'm still disappointed.
Mauricio is going to a star, if you not going all out then see what the kids can do, trade McNeil now
McNeil likes golf too much. He decided to make his bat a pitching wedge and that hasn't worked for him. The problem is......every time he gets a hit with his PITCHING WEDGE he feels like he just won the US Open. Somebody needs to make him take the pitching wedge out of his bag
Let Pete go, he wasn’t clutch but for one at bat
That one at bat very well be needed again.
It as Lindor that kept this team together

fair deal for Pete - 3/84M opt out after 1st yr. Mets can kill optout by adding another yr at $28M, making total deal 4/112M
Let’s bring what we have in triple a
Pete was a great Met but he broke my heart most of the time, I was totally shocked when he came through, but mostly it’s he’s defense that scares me the mostly. My favorite Mets is second to Tom Seaver is Keith defense and average
That's not written in English

He decided the team months ago…

Is this what it’s going to look like every year, hoping that it works out, if that’s turn why spend so my money on Soto it makes no sense
Evan what does history have to do with anything, we have one of the best players in baseball are we going to waste all that money we gave Soto to be a wildcard every year
Do dare working on being a dynasty, so we spend all this money on Soto to be half ass
Both our starters n bullpen are questionable, Stearns has not done a great job
When is Stearns going to do something, when are we got get Guerrero jr, because the Dodgers might get him
And if the Mets really want to be the Dodgers... the sign Pete back and still go after Vlad. That's why LA does. They had Seager and said "let's get Trea Turner anyway, we'll figure it out" they just add and add and worry about positions later. Mookie at 2B for instance. They make it happen.
Go trade for Castillo
