I really wanted the yellow DSi XL because yellow is my favorite color but there was no North American yellow DSi XL. I found a Japanese yellow DSi XL (DSi LL) and took out the Japanese main board and put in a North American main board from a old DSi XL that I had laying around. The DSi XL works great and looks great!

Ive had my 3DS since my birthday in December 2011 the year it came out, i was 6 at the time and i still have the 3DS and play it to this day and its still not even got a scratch in it (its the cosmic black one) and yes i do have the gba virtual console games given to people who bought it around the launch period

I bought a used New 3DS XL (SNES Version) in 2020, shortly before they were officially discontinued for just 190€, so 10€ below retail. It did come with a scratch on the bottom screen, so I would have preferred to pay full price for a new one, but by that time, they were already all sold out. The scratch isn't that noticeable so I don't mind that much. I'm just glad that I got the console so cheaply now that the prices have skyrocketed.
disclaimer: even with... "spice", some games will not work (super mario maker, captain toad, and super smash bros to name a few), that run in extended memory mode, and some of the spicy apps like hshop and universal updater will be in japanese, regardless of the region set in the settings. i could be 100% wrong but i had these problems when converting a japanese console to english.
You have to import the English version seed into the fbi app or another method which I forgot since I changed mine to English lmaoo and it works just fine

I'm playing Paper Mario 64 on it from a straight ROM through an emulator, and aside from sound issues when the frames dip and a few graphical errors it's perfectly playable

Bought mine used from a guy selling it because the volume slider was “broken” and stuck at max. One realignment and twenty minutes later I got a 3ds xl for $70

Low supply+high demand=higher costs When the console was being produced, it was in high supply and mediocre to low demand for most of its lifespan. Sold my og xl I had since I was 8 last year since it was starting to show it’s age and regretted it. So I bought a mint 3ds last week at a local game store and got the console, a charging dock, and 3 games (Luigi’s mansion dm, nsmb 2, and rayman origins) for 225 after tax. Not the greatest price but when I checked the game logs and pictures still on it I found out it hadn’t been played since 2014 and some pictures that were on there I think we’re from the day the first owner got it (from Christmas 2011). It sounds weird but I probably won’t delete them for the sake of nostalgia. It’s like a time capsule of a more simple time in life I wish I could go back to. I remember one of my favorite memories was staying the night at one of my friends houses before I moved across the country and falling asleep playing Pokémon sun.
The Animal Crossing edition also released in Europe and Australia, which is great because I live in Aus and I want it more than anything else in the world!

The GameStop I work at has 2 3DS’ coming off trade hold soon, and both my coworker and I plan on picking them up, I just need to find some of the games I used to have for my old 2DS, mainly Mario & Luigi Dream Team, Tomodachi Life, and maybe on the the Gen 7 Pokémon games since I never got the chance to play one of those

Its annoying finding batteries for these. The ones ive bought online have been quite dodgy - youre better off buying a pro controller and ripping the battery out as its exactly the same.

The screens on the XL seem deeper. I prefer the New non-XL. The 3D literally looks like it's coming off the screen. The XL kind of took away from that.
You could also buy a Japanese 3ds and perform a motherboard swap with a american 3DS motherboard. For the homebrew route, Reigon change and then you do a SOAP transfer to regain online access. It's safe to update your 3ds after 👍👍👍
This can also go for if you get a European system. I’d rather void its warranty and swap out the motherboard for an American/UAE motherboard, but it wouldn’t matter anyway because I don’t live in where I imported the system from. Yes. American and UAE 3DS systems are the same region.

I got a New 2ds xl for 175 along with about 15 games. Still had it's warrantee for a couple days. It stopped working when I didn't touch it for a week a month and since it was so close to the warrantee expiration, they gave me an emergency repair extension.
If you are buying a 3ds to add to your console collection or something similar, then go ahead and buy one. If you are buying it to play games on it then I would suggest just using emulators

Some Japanese content have risky adult themes which are not in the English version. Even if you try to change to English, in some games the content gets censored. Talk about trolling😅

If you can stomach a repair job you can also buy a for parts device and repair it. Did this with a ds lite recently

I want the Japanese lavender 2ds ll at some point. Just gotta save the money and find one for a decent price. Then mod the heck out of it 😂
Some Japanese content have risky adult themes which are not in the English version. Even if you try to change to English, in some games the content gets censored. Talk about trolling😅
The only 3DS I want is the one with NSMB2 Gold Edition, unless I can find the Gold Edition separately
Just get a modded 3ds, you can get gold version free

I bought a 2DS with a broken screen for $33 and a replacement screen for $40 so I pretty much found a loop hole to how to get a 2DS cheap If you know how to fix one
