- THIS LAST SCENE IS GRIPPING; HAPPY ENDINGS ARE ALWAYS WELCOMED AND THIS MOVIE HAS ONE. THE ORIGINAL MOVIE HAD FRANK SINATRA JOHN GARFIELD ACTUALLY DIE. BOO HOO ... THIS REMAKE ENDING IS MUCH MUCH BETTER I THINK. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SONG WITH FRANK AND DORIS BOTH IN A MOVIE TOGETHER. ....AS FAR AS I KNOW.
Day and Sinatra had personalities which really did not mesh but in this film, and in the making of the film, they got along beautifully. He respected her talents and intelligence, she respected his knowledge in both music and film and regarded him in making the film as the perfect gentleman. Though a teacher, I had my own encounter with Mr. Sinatra when he was looking for the phone number of another singer and, yes, he was both a perfect gentleman and a warm person with no airs. I am a lifelong Sinatra fan AND Nancy Sinatra fan.
I was 9 years old when I saw this in the theater. Still one of my favorites. Those voices ! Boy what talent ! Thanks for sharing.
Preciosa pareja y voces hermosas
I started watching this movie on vhs in the 1980s and now enjoy the dvd...must have seen it about 200 times. Know every word of the script. Love you, Doris Day. ( She was born on the exact same day as Marlon Brando, but sadly Marlon is no longer with us...)
Such a great ending to a great film. Was always rooting for Sinatra and Day to end up together in this film.
7:03 near the end of the song, she's staring deep in to his eyes, and he's completely shy and can't directly look at her for that long at a time. Doris has that effect on people, even Frankie himself :] cute scene.
Yes, their so good together 💕
6:38 when he looked at her and she peeked from the corner of her eye with a smile, he totally looked away all blushing and what not :)
Love this movie!! Love the house!!! Love the songs!!! Love the banter between Doris and Frank. ("They've got places for people who just laugh out loud for no reason!") Don't think that's a verbatim quote, but close enough for those of you who have seen the whole movie to know to which part I am referring.
Wish that Doris and Frank had been paired off in a few more productions. They did seem to make a good musical and romantic team. We are losing so many of the greats. Just found out about Shirley Temple. So Sad!!
This is one of my all time favorite movies!! The songs are wonderful, the clothes, the house. You can't go wrong with Doris and Frank. !
+Jeannie Johnson
They knew how to make a good nice house in those days.
I couldn't agree with you more. This is one of my favorite movies for all the reasons you listed. Doris had zero chemistry with Cary Grant which has always surprised me. The chemistry between Doris and Frank just crackles. I love and miss both of those true stars!
@@SpiritBear12 Wish I was young in those times.
Doris Day was the best singer and best actress ever!!!!
How did I miss this! An old classic movie I must see! My favorite crooner!
LOVE , LOVE THIS MOVIE. I CAN NOT STOP WATCHING IT.
One of my favorite movies! I first remember seeing this with my mother and sisters when I was 8 or 9 years old. I loved the way she looked in this movie (her hairstyle, loved the sweater in the last scene). I really thought it was possible to live and love that way. I know better now, but it's fun to fantasize.
yes this is one of my favorite movies . becuz it reminds me of a time when I had my Aunt Jean and all things in the world was so beautiful. I have grown up now and I am 41 but I am still among the very young at heart...
Because of this movie there is a beautiful little house with window boxes and slate roof that i refer to as the Doris Day/Young At Heart house. i think of this movie whenever I pass it. what songs and emotions from the wonderfully talented persons. couldn't be successfully redone today. this was the BEST. thanks for the upload.
The iron maidon
Wonderful movie, great songs, love the clothes, especially DD, and always loved that short classic hairstyle on her. It doesn't get much better than this for old classic movies.
What a great movie. Doris is great s usual. Why has no-one arisen to challenge her supremacy ? Because she can never be topped. Just the greatest ever. I love her
Oh really, no-one wanted to challenge her, they just couldn't.
I love this old show.
I can just sink right into this movie. Love it
One of my favorites....
Frank Sinatra and Doris Day singing together. Can you ask for something better? Their voices match so well!
Wonderful
I need more!!!
I Love this Movie.
I watch this film every year around Christmas time. All time favourite.
Rick Wilmot, I don't want to ruin your
Rick Wilmot, I don't want to ruin your Christmas, but Young At Heart is a musical remake of Warner's Four Daughters 1938. Look at the '38 version...you might like it better.
@@brianoyler4777 This one will do for me, thanks! :-))
One of my favorite movies they were so great together is to shame they didn't make more movies together what wonderful towns the best there ever was Frank Sinatra and Doris
Doris Day was SO beautiful!! RIP Doris
Doris is now 87 according from what is written in 2011. Regardless, she sounded wonderful on her birthday this year on the radio, as her usual birthday call every year is made. I'll bet she can sing and cry just as good as ever. As far as I can tell, she is the only one alive today who was in this movie. God bless you Doris, and thanks for the memories. Thank God for film!
It's a beautiful song and so well peformance!
You my love is one of my favorite songs that Frank recorded. This to me, is Sinatra singing at the top of his game.
What a duo!
As 'feel good' movies go, this is one of the best, by a mile
i love this film and im only 16. doris day and frank sinatra are brilliant. im sooooo glad they made the ending that barney was saved.
My father love this movie
FANTASTIC!! 👏 BRAVO! 💐 MORE, MORE!! 🌹🌹😍
I didn't read your comment above....I am so happy they changed the ending! I almost didn't finish it when I realized it was a remake of the John Garfield and Priscilla Lane movie. Thank you for the upload.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! I remember watching this on VHS when I was 7yrs old...and now I'm 25 and I've forever been influenced by Doris Day. Absolutely love her.
So good of the old movies.
This was the only movie they both were in together; I wonder why; they were great together!
Frank the year b4 had won the Oscar for the movie "From Here To Eternity". I can hardly believe that Doris was only put up for an Oscar once - all those wonderful movies - oh well - she is a DREAM to watch :)
Love this movie
Originally, Sinatra's character was to die from the crash. Fortunately, the 'powers that be' decided to give it this happy ending - thank God!
'powers that be'? Sinatra, you mean!!
And makes for a much poorer film, in my opinion.
Thank God or the producers? And weren't all American movies supposed to have happy endings back then?
The producers knew that Sinatra fans would slam the movie if he died so they had the end rewritten.
Young At Heart was a musical remake of Warner's Four Daughters 1938 with the Lane sisters, Gale Page, Jeffrey Lynn, Claude Raines, Mae Robson and John Garfield as Mchael Borden. Doris Day played the Priscilla Lane role. Frank Sinatra played the Michael Borden role. Gig Young played the Alex Dietz role. In the '38 version Michael "Micky" Borden character dies after car accident in snow.
Great actors...
The yellow bunny at the end was the clincher . One of the most beautiful endings in a picture
God, they are so good!
I love them two together, wished they would have made more movies together 💕
my greatest memories would be watching this movie as a child with my mum on video
This Is My Favourite Classical Movie
hearing him sing with Doris Day makes me wish my dream had been as perfect as what they both got in the end; I wish I could have a little miracle but only God could grant that gift.
Yeh. NO!!!!
Really wahta a beatyful song i dont know before:7 " You my love"
I saw this movie on Telecine Classic one day and never forgot the powerful scene of Frank´s character´s death. Im so lucky I found it. Didnt know the name of the movie nor the name of the co-stars. :) Thank You!!
Thanks for uploading & sharing this. This was a great oldtime Hollywood film for romantics and music lovers!
Swoon!! :) Just fantastic!
gran pareja romántica y de acuerdo a su época creo que la gente los difrutaba
not just the stars thats amazing but the musics good too and some really lovely songs stand out especially the end one
Pasarán los años la vida...pero estos inolvidables artistas vivirán por siempre en mi corazón
Before the phony smoking bans. Everybody smoked back then. And the death rate from smoking was LESS than today.
2nd Hand Smoke=Joke
This is one of the greatest endings of any movie, ever! Thanks for sharing.
There were less poisonous "addictive" chemicals in cigarettes back in those days too is my guess. In Europe, people are still smoking like chimneys too.
Wilco Roger
Sinatra takes a drag and blows smoke in Day`s face.
Smokers are ADDICTS and can`t go for more than an hour or two without . When smokers are denied a smoke they become mean and aggressive.
Smokers smell bad , act bad , have ugly yellow nicotine fingers , and have terrible nicotine breath. How romantic ????????????????????????
Lung cancer = joke ???????
The relatively high rate of smoking in the 50`s and 60`s did not have an immediate effect but a delayed effect and those dying prematurely today are dying from years of ADDICTION in the 50`s and 60`s.
Incidentally " everybody " did not smoke as the smoking rate never approached 50%.

Thanks for cheering me up .
Long may she so continue. Life has not been kind to her in some ways, so she deserves her " day in the sun".
I agree about Academy Awards: She is/was one helluva performer: singer, dancer, actress.
Good movie. Great stars.
I love and miss J.C. more than anything! I AM SO GRATEFULL I AM NOT ALONE.
Mon Dieu…………… quoi de plus beau au monde ?????……………… 💕
I love Frank Sinatra
Doris Day looks beautiful in this movie! Love the sweater she is wearing! I remember the first time I watched this movie, I always thought it was funny because all the girls wanted to be with Gig Young and at the end of the movie he ends up with none of them.
YOUNG AT HEART is a musical remake of Warner's Four Daughters 1938 with the Lane sisters, Gale Page, Jeffrey Lynn, John Garfield, Claude Raines, Mae Robson. Look at the '38 version and compare the roles. You might like '38 version better.
Brian Oyler. I did not know that. Thanks!
Isn't she just!! She looks bubbling with good health and good humour. I admire her now because she has dedicated herself to animal welfare and spends much time feeding the strays and unwanted ones.
Face of an angel and a heart of gold..that's Doris.
Look at her!! She's gorgeous!!
Hi
Thanks for your comment. I love this movie; being a musician and a lover of real talent and well written songs this movie hits a huge homerun. I found a new DVD of this movie at Hastings; I hope this helps you obtain it.
i cant wait to watch this movie. It looks great! Thanks for uploading the ending for us to watch and wonder about the rest of the film. So excited!!
MY GOD!THANK YOU FOR PUBLISHING SOMETHING VERY BEAUTIFUL .ELES THERE WERE, REALLY?
One of my favourite films. Franks' voice and Doris's whole package - face, figure, voice, the lot. Fabulous!!!!
Funnily enough, goss has it that Frankie did not take it too kindly that Doris did not fall into his arms - offstage. He was well known for being a lady killer!!
Lillibet12
Rumour has it Doris's hubby was hanging around the set . Frank didn't like him... Lol
thanks, it was a good movie
Frank and Doris together>>>>
A wonderful Movie
You know, I love this movie and I love the ending but I also always have to smile a little bit. I'm a huge fan of drama but this is always a bit over the top - 1) A car accident, then 2) Oh no, it's Frank Sinatra, then 3) Doris Day is pregnant and some time later we see the most perfect family (and I do love this sequence). But the last shoot of the street in front of the house is just too much for me :)
Young At Heart is a musical remake of Warner's Four Daughters 1938. Go back and look at the '38 version. You can compare the roles, and you night like the '38 version better.
Oh no! What happened to this video? I just LOVED it!
Doris Day....a classy lady!
You see? You're that close to death and what do you want? huh? A cigarette, and then you could have one. Ah, the good ol' days.
Yeh, then the cigarette would kill you with cancer. That's fabulous.
I thought the same thing!
Hi John,I think you'll find that Dorothy Malone is still with us,88 and living in retirement in Dallas,Texas
Thank you. I love this movie.🌞
And I love it too
Anything Doris does is awesome :)
Doris Day is such a good crier.
You have good taste... thnx
FRANK SINATRA AND DORIS DAY PLAY A GREAT HUSBAND AND WIFE IN THIS GOOD OLD MOVIE!
not a kiss from sinatra and doris in sight in the movie apart from on the nose later in episode .
I heard Doris's husband was on the set .Lol
FREEDOM.. NO SEAT BELTS... LAWS PASSED... FREEDOMS LOST!...
The original movie was called "4 Daughters" It's ending had him die.
PS Thank you!
Well, I understand what you're saying but----it surely does make for a great ending!!:-)Hey---what do you have against a beautiful home with the breeze blowing the curtains and the trees all budded out for Spring and the grass soooo green, etc. (Can we say Hallmark Card?) And to top it off, Lightening!!!!....lol The song all finished (with face and feet)...ahhhh. Let's dream on-AND that dress Doris has on...wow; I'll bet every girl in the good old USA had to have one just like it. Thnx4 comment
Swell movie...don't make 'em like that anymore....who figured the 'Skipper' would be in a movie with Doris Day...
@jposkitt ...THE BEST EVER...I AGREE.
any chance of showing ready willing and able as well please
When i found out she was going ot have a baby then he got in teh car crash i was liek sreaming at my t.v. in tear yelling YOU BETTER GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Somebody knows where i can watch the movie?? :-/
@ApoloExpress YOU have a keen eye, girl.
Ethel Barrimore allí ✨
I am sorry to say that wasn't a live recording and I am just as gutted by the fact as much as you are.
Why??? It's gorgeous as it is.
anyone know where the link to the whoLE movie is?
M
how do u know that the scene was reshot to give it a happy ending? like to know this type of trivia.
Frank Sinatra changed it said he was not to die but live thats the goss i read !!
kate parkscott
Maybe Frank thought, It wasn't a good idea to allow his character to die by suicide ,because he was down on his luck .
What kind of message would that send to the audience .
Wasn't a bad move but it's a total loss and shame that this movie had absolutely nothing to do with the title of the movie, the song or anything to do with the lyrics matching the story line. Very big huge disappointment considering how great a message the song lyrics are.
The original story was written for the Sinatra/John Garfield character to die. And Sinatra wouldn't so the studio gave in to him. I think it makes for a much poorer movie and story. It's obvious that Doris' character was truly in love with the Gig Young character. They should have married in the end. Would have been MUCH better. And, true to the original story written by Fannie Hurst and called "Sister Act". So boo hoo to you too!!!
Gig Young played the role Jeffrey Lynn played in the '38 Four Daughters original. Doris Day played the role Priscilla Lane played in the original. Frank Sinatra played the role John Garfield played in the original. Look at the '38 version. You might like it better. '54 version was a remake.
An incongruous matching these two, but it works
