The good thing about a uniden pro 505 XL is that they dead key at 2.5 w so out of the box they're perfect to use with a little foot warmer like the RM Italy kl 203 without having to have it adjusted
Trying to hit somebody consistently that far away is impossible you can make long distance contacts on skip when the atmospheric conditions are perfect during certain times of day during certain cycles but to continuously reliably contact somebody that far is impossible use a cell phone
