I purchased a Uniden 520XL and I'm super happy it was dirt cheap because CB is dead. I've made maybe 5 highway contacts in the past year. I've tried getting updates during traffic jams and received absolutely nothing. I have a good TRAM antenna with a 1.3 SWR.
I can't fault the radio at all. Solar activity cycle is at the peak which makes the effective daytime range 1 mile at most. No CB is going to cut through that without a little fire in the wire
