    I've noticed a lot of hayden models have the leash plug a bit higher up the board than usual. As far as performance, this pushes most traction pads into a less than ideal area. I had to cut a notch out of my pad's kicktail to get the pad completely over the back thruster fin.

    Ok. So what is your intake on the Holly Grail vs the untiteld?
    And if you need a new shaper to test I recommend avelino bastos(tropical Brasil)
    One of the best boards I have ever had.

    I always see your reviews, but I never understood why you guys don’t make reviews on the Slater Designs surfboards... I think everybody would like to see your reviews on that...!

    which board did you liked better the Holy Grail or the Monstabox?

    • @pabloautran1437
      @pabloautran1437 6 лет назад

      Seems to me that the Holy Grail is more like a Black Box 2 than the MB. I love my BB2 hyfy and next month I'm gonna try the Holy Grail in Maldives, so I can compare them. Did you ever ride the black box? Cheers!

      @@pabloautran1437 did you compare? Keen to hear anyone's thoughts.

      James Nyman I’ve had both MB and HG in exact same volumes. 24.7 and 24.5 respectively. Both epoxy. I’m 5’7.5” 145lbs and average surfer at my best and I surf beachbreaks. Both board are pretty user friendly for boards that can be ridden very high performance (beyond my skill). MB has less tail rocker and feels more traditional, probably the better choice if you don’t have a huge quiver. Neither board excels in 1-2ft surf. HG has a wider plane shape but more rocker (both nose and tail). MB is quite narrow but volume in the right places. HG might be slightly easier to paddle and catch waves with. HG is a hard both to compare because it is a very unique board off top turns and cutbacks. I enjoy both boards but if I were to stick with one it’d probably be Monsta Box

    I like your reviews, but it seems like your boards are too small for a guy your size. I bet if you added another inch or two and a couple more liters you'd be ripping alot harder.

      I was thinking the same thing, and can understand why he rides these boards so small .

    Do you ever ride more volume Craig? 29.5 and 90kg seems way under. Be good to see your review footage on different sizes sometimes.

    • @kiwi73
      @kiwi73 6 лет назад +2

      He needs at least 36 ltrs, 29 is way under. He is definitely not a ripper who can ride shorter.

    • @brendangannon9286
      @brendangannon9286 6 лет назад +1

      He’s so far under volume it’s criminal. His surfing is extremely compromised by the tiny boards he tries to ride.

    Hi, i have been surfing for 2 years now and i feel like i need to change my board to progress.
    Currently i use a 6'6'' with lots of volume and i feel it slow, like im not capable of generating speed.
    I want an all around board which helps me generate speed and lets me surf well in all kind of conditions while at the same time allows me to progress.
    I've seen two boards in this channel that could fit that descripton, one is this holy grail and the other one is the V3 stealth.
    I wanted to know which one is better for you guys, considering that im going to spend a lot of money and i want it to be durable.
    Any help?
    Thanks for reading.

    What's up, deciding if I like this more vs the Uber Driver for summer waves in Ocean City NJ which ranges 1-3 ft usually, watt do you recommend? Cheers!

    Hey! Which one do you like better for a daily 1-6 foot range. The Holly grail or air 17x?

    • @sdsurfs
      @sdsurfs 6 лет назад

      hey I have the air 17x but have never tried the holy grail. I do love my air 17x. I've have the monsta box before and I think the 17x is a better board. the air 17x still works in the smaller stuff, and rips when it's chest and up. Great board I recommend trying. I have 10+ boards and 80% of the time I grab the air 17x. I'm in SD and surf mostly Scripps and Blacks. Would like to know how the holy grail compares as well.

      hey man, just had a few surfs on the holy grail now and still been riding my air 17x. Different boards. Holy grails is wayyy better at the low wave range like 1-3ft. It also works great when bigger so overall more versatile than air 17x. Air 17x feels just like a standard shortboard. I love both, but holy grail does surf a bit different, but still shortboardy. great alternative shape to a standard shortboard. get both :)

    sorry guys. Don't buy a HS. I broke two fin boxes in two weeks on one of their untitled boards. The fins boxes arent reinforced properly in their boards

      Twed j8 I do not own a HS board, but have read reviews of some batches that are low quality and break easily if they were made in Thailand.

      I've only had one HS board (Merlot). Futures boxes. Rock solid. No issues in 2 years. It was a PE board (not FibreFlex or whatever it's called now)

    • @jeffmachado6344
      @jeffmachado6344 6 лет назад +3

      Yeah, I haven't had any issues with my 5'4 PE hypto. Really fun board from knee to overhead. Doesn't allow for the quickest off the lips, but it carves, holds and feels pretty groovy on a high line trim. Still going strong after almost 2 years. Definitely interested in the holy grail

      Mike O'Connor yeah I went with Future flex and it's far from solid. Definitely should have gone with P.E
