    A surprising all rounder packed with fun, the Channel Islands NeckBeard 2 Surfboard Review is Dane Reynolds' new 'fun' performance whip...and it could be yours, too.
    My Neck Beard 2 is 6’2 x 20 3/8 x 2 ¾ at 38.2L’s (standard dims).
    A big fan of single concave, Dane asked Britt Merrick to take out the vee from the original CI Neck Beard, creating a single concave throughout.
    This changed the rocker landscape but in a positive way-enhancing its wave entry, down-the-line speed, and overall control.
    Channel Islands Surfboards also widened the tail block 1/2” and added a slight hip, resulting in increased responsiveness and manoeuvrability.
    But all you need to know is that this is a really fun, easy board to ride. You should get one.
    I hope you enjoy this Channel Islands NeckBeard 2 Surfboard Review for Compare Surfboards!
    All the best,
    Benny

    Great review.
    I stumbled upon this and pulled out my yellowed og epoxy neckbeard from the back of the shed. I was feeling creative and threw a Tyler Warren twin + trailer set in it. It finally surfed how I wanted to when I ordered it. Super super loose and fun. Thanks for the inspiration.

    I am a big fan of the original Neckbeard. This is a completely different board. I think the original is more user friendly, more of a groveler. Has a larger sweet spot. It gains speed faster on a flatter wave, but does not turn in the pocket that great. It still is one of my favorites from CI. The 2 is a great board for stronger waves and surfs vertical , and more maneuverable. Defiantly a smaller sweet spot. I really like mine, daily driver. Your review is right on.!!

      lambisi buto I love the NB1 as a small wave performance board and was a bit disappointed with the NB2 at first. So different! Even peddling it felt a bit off at first. But then I had a great session on it on a chest high day, great turns, felt fast, I think the single concave did something special. At the same length and about the same volume as my NB1, somehow the NB2 feels more bulky. I still feel weird about it but had one great surf and does seem to handle a bit more size

    • @poppiiiii
      @poppiiiii 4 года назад +2

      Totally agree, the NB1 was the real deal. The nb2 fell very bulky compared to my 5 10. I think when brands try to create new version of other successful model it s rarely successful. Dont buy a NB2 if you loved the NB1.

    Great review Benny. I have the Uber Xl, which I recently reviewed. I'm a similar size to you at 105kg. My uber xl is 43L and I think am riding it in similar conditions to your Neckbeard2. Do you not find 38L is a bit low on volume for catching and riding Sydney junk?

    Great review Ben! I have 5-9 spinetek and after some travel can say best board I’ve ever owned! From 1-2’ in Florida to solid 6’ Portugal...now 3-4’ Costa Rica, clean to messy this board does it all. First thruster I’ve ever enjoyed after 8 years of twin fun fish. This board is a keeper and spinetek is best epoxy I’ve ever felt and I’ve owned most flavors!

    Great to hear from you again Benny. Another very helpful review. How would you compare the NB2 to the Rocket Wide for Sydney waves?

    • @Comparesurfboards
      @Comparesurfboards  5 лет назад +2

      Thanks so much Roger!
      I like the CI Rocket Wide for the more typical, 'average' conditions we get in Sydney so often. It's a little less nimble versus the NeckBeard 2 but flatter and faster for our weak waves.
      I think of the NB2 as more of an all rounder shortboard for slightly bigger, better waves.
      Make sense?

    Benny do yourself a real favour and get a Seaside you will absolutely love it. Would really like to hear your opinion. Helium is a major breakthrough in surfboard technology especially for your average to very good surfer. Try one about 5-10 it is just over 39ltrs

    As always great reviews. Question: i need your advice and thoughts on a board. I’m looking at the CI Sampler.I am in my 50’s and used to surf better than average but work, injuries and family commitments limited my time in the water. I am trying to get back at it and would like to get some of my ability back. I think I may need more foam now. I used to stay in the 33 liters area. Do you think If I go with the sampler I should go with more liter? I appreciate your thoughts.
