I once got my knee hit by a cart pushed on an aircraft aisle years ago. The flight attendant immediately apologized. Later on the person checked on me again and apologized. What has the aviation industry turned into?
those happened few time for me as I flight internationally often. Usually carts, and cabin crew's big butt. Old white woman once hit my face so hard with a newspaper from behind when I reclined. Cabin crew put this old lady on far back where air marshall usually sit the rest of the flight. Old lady did not get arrested tho. (probably racially biased as if she was black she would have been arrested) I dont think much as uncomfortableness for 12-14 hours so nothing surprises me anymore.

I hate being crammed into a seat to sit still for hours but less people on a plane means higher ticket prices for all. You can call it corporate greed if they do but it is a matter of economics.
This is exactly right. All of these individual incidents are unfortunate and may go one way or another, but the problem is corporate greed, just like always. We need comfortable planes and a return to a generally painless travel experience like it used to be.

Help me understand this. If the police was involved and found that no crime was committed and therefore never arrested the passenger then how can the FAA step in saying he assaulted anyone? If under what grounds?
That’s what federal government agencies do…….they make up their own rules and hold others to a much tighter standard. That’s exactly why I refuse to fly! The airline industry can go bankrupt for all I care!
@@teebosaurusyou2-un2nz The FBI and the TSA are both federal agencies with law enforcement powers, as is the FAA. None of them are required to defer to the others. Logic says that either they found other compelling evidence or they overlooked or ignored exculpatory evidence.
After 9/11 the airlines wanted to put cameras in all the planes but the airline workers union fought against it and won. They didn't want their members being recorded on the job. After seeing this, it's not hard to figure out why.
If anything there are far more rowdy, violent passengers than crew. Installing cameras in all planes would be expensive; that's a more likely reason airlines didn't want them. As for this particular incident; something seems way off...one of the sides is not telling the full story. I wouldn't make any judgements without much more information.
These were cameras in the cockpit that the NTSB recommended, thus the pilots union objected. The NTSB recommendation was not for cameras in the cabin area.
if flight attendants are so sensitive that need to go on disability with just a touch then how can we rely on them to assist people in the event of an emergency?
I have experienced flight crew members who are totally inappropriate and then act like they are empowered and entitled to treat passengers badly if they choose to. I’ve had it happen to me and I’ve witnessed it done to other passengers who are not guilty of anything
Had a flight attendant once yell at me that I “better not spill” my coffee like I was a misbehaving child literal seconds after being handed a complimentary cup while calmly exiting an early morning red eye connection in Cleveland. Not sure if she was trying to be funny or cute but her tone was very much not either. Even my travel companion gave me a confused look like “what did you do?” before I gestured a confused expression. A simple “please be careful” and I wouldn’t have batted an eye. I still don’t know why she even felt the need to call me out in particular. I slept nearly the entirety of the flight and never interacted with the woman. I figured it was just a poorly delivered joke but it still soured my good mood.
I was traveling alone as a teenager once, and a flight attendant accidentally dumped hot coffee all over my legs (I was wearing basketball shorts). I was asleep, woke up, and went “OW!”. The flight attendant was like “oh, sorry”, then kept going on. It burned so bad and left a huge red burn on my leg. Never posted about it, but I wish the flight attendant acted like they were actually sorry.
I had one FA splash drink in my face and she asked "did I splash drink on you" so I said "yes you did." She looks to the other FA and said "I hate when people complain" and kept going. The other FA was like I would just apologize. but I find this interaction so bizarre!
@ang5035 I used to overlook the FAs rudeness if I had seen them do to others, but after I experienced unwarranted rudeness myself, I realized that is becoming their culture. Sometimes, they will offer drinks to a white person sitting next to you but will not even look your way if you are of different color to ask if you need anything. Some of them are downright racist.
It may be because of you being a teenager . Some adults disrespect and abuse kids. In this case , an adult hurt you emotionally and physically. I'm sorry you had a adult with a superiority complex.
FA should be written up & FIRED! If this happened this time, what's to stop FA from doing the same thing in the future? And has this FA done this kinda thing previously and what does his work history look like? Was this an anomaly or is this incident one of many involving this FA?

It's still a huge PITA to sue. If this guy is telling the truth, tho, and he isn't greedy, he could get a quick 5-figure payoff from the airline, cheaper than fighting it.
Most Americans are overweight nowadays. Don't blame the small seats. The airplane seats have remained the same size for many decades. It is the people who become heavier over the years!
@@MikeManning-p8u Nah, the seats are shrinking. Even a very average 180lb male can't sit in them without his arms rubbing up agains the stranger next to him. You have to be not just fit but basically petite to be comfortable in them
In my opinion, FAA should not have the authority to issue a nearly 30k fine. If FAA thinks something happened, sure. Let the court hear both sides and then if the guy is guilty, the court would order him to pay a fine.
The flight attendant needs to be charged for fraud. He is defrauding the insurance and is no way unable to work from being “touched”. Dear god, the FA more baby than soccer players with false fouls.
Flying home from London two years ago and I had the same type of reaction from a flight attendant. Having worked in the airline industry for almost four decades, I respect those who have oversight of my safety while in flight. What I encountered 4 hours into a 10 hour flight left me shocked and fearful at the hands of a person who should not have been working with the public, especially at 40,000 feet. Power left unchecked can be abusive.
The flight attendant can't come back to work and went on disability? Sounds like he's milking the disability angle. I refuse to fly. If I can't take a car, bus, train, or ship I'm not going.
Good that's one less passenger to deal with. I used to think the same way but realized that this trashy behavior is mostly from Americans. I flew over 27 flights while I was in Mexico from March 2020 until August 2022 and never had any issues with unruly passengers. It's also much safer than driving. In case you haven't noticed, people on the freeways are nuts these days. You get a gun pulled on you for looking at someone the wrong way.

How about the FAA stop worrying about childish accusations and start actually holding airlines and airplane manufacturers accountable. The fact that we are hearing on a weekly basis about potential close calls, pilot error and plane issues goes to show that the FAA is not fulfilling their duties. What is up with these sensitive ass flight attendants? Me and husband were flying on Allegiant in November 2023 from Vegas to Shreveport. My husband and I were watching a movie on almost empty flight. Flight attendant walked up and asked was I okay? I'm like yes why? Her response was and I quote "sounded like you were crying". Umm no I was laughing. Fast forward two hours and we land in Shreveport. We see these three big guys in uniform coming towards us. They politely asked us to come with them because it was a report of a mid air assault. WTF!!! Assault!!! So we're separated and interviewed and it's like we were watching the Temptations movie. Yeah we were laughing but my husband did NOT assault me. After two hours we were released. The authorities were nice and very apologetic. When I complained afterwards I never got a response from Allegiant and even filed a BBB complaint. Still nothing. I felt so humiliated being escorted off a plane like a criminal in my hometown. Absolutely horrible feeling.
Could you guys have refused to partake in the "interview"? Were you actually detained? I would have been tempted to just say " Everything's Fine and we are now leaving to catch our Uber". What could they have done?
A few weeks ago I boarded a flight in Atlanta and was removing my backpack before taking my seat and I accidentally made contact with the flight attendants shoulder. She immediately turns to me and starts telling me how aggressive I was and I was trying to apologize at the same time but she wasn't having any it. My seat mate spoke up and said he saw what happened and that it was an accident. She just glare at me and walked away. I saw her talking to the other flight attendants and I was sure she was going to make a big deal out of it but no one said anything about it. Flying is scary.

This is becoming more common on local flights. It’s bad enough you have to sit in cramped up seats with bird food service. Now you better think twice calling an attendant or tapping their shoulder to ask anything. Yikes!
Absolutely. There always 3 sides to disputes like this. What the passenger says, what the flight attendant says and what a third party eye witness says. Just like a domestic dispute, you're usually not going to get an unbiased, complete honest answer from either party.

However, when a flight crew made up an incidence that is against the witness of passengers nearby (not someone just happened to be on the flight, but next to the passengers and witnessed what happened), there needs to be accountability of their action. Having said that, I think ANYONE disrupt a flight by virtue of being a Karen, should be responsible for the entitled pay of every flight crew they lost because of the delay caused. That is on top of whatever fine and fees the airlines, the airport, the FAA, and a judge granted.
He didn’t say readily and in fact, he also didn’t mention whether he needed to take something for pain and actually, he said that the trolley hitting his knee was excruciating, NOT that his knee remained in excruciating pain for the entire trip. They love to ram you with the cart if you're hanging out in the aisle. I've experienced it and they make no apologies. Most flight attendants are so rude these days.
One of the biggest contributors to all of these incidents on planes is the fact that people are crammed next to one another, with a super skinny aisle for the carts and flight attendants, and everyone is miserably uncomfortable. The seats rake your spine with discomfort, not everyone has an armrest which is RIDICULOUS, anyone with a hint of claustrophobia is super on edge in this scenario... I cannot believe airlines have been allowed to take such extreme advantage of people by designing their seating for maximum profit over the comfort and security of their passengers. No other type of transportation would DARE to stuff passengers in like that without basic comforts for many hours. It's disgusting, and it's no wonder that every person with any kind of potential behavioral issue, including the attendants, eventually acts out in some way. There's no space to keep your cool, realistically. For reference, look at how the insides of planes were designed in the 1950's. The whole gimmick then was to offer a "luxury" traveling experience with various high end comforts. The cabins were so astronomically spacious compared to nowadays. People need to stop letting the airline industry get away with this greed, and demand better. Demand an experience that at least allows people their dignity in flight so that people aren't at their absolute wit's end for the duration of the flight.
Really? I fly weekly and never seem to have an issue with the airline personel, the issue is the other passengers who make unreasonable demands, or act as if they have not flown in 20 years. Customer service does not mean customers always get their way, or that if you scream loud enough as a customer you get special treatment. All I see anymore are passengers who scream and moan so they can get out of being responsible for themselves - showing up late for flights, not being prepared to pay for their bags, pushing and shoving to get off the plane as if it is a city bus.
That’s 2 United Airline male FAs who escalated and twisted being touched into being aggressively punched. Both have been removed from service. I flew United recently and had a serene experience. United has made national news in outrageous customer interactions. Male FAs make me nervous. “No snacks for me, ever.”
Some people are just rude; I remember on a particular flight I had road rash on my leg which was very painful; I also was hit by a cart in the aisle; I understand that from there vantage point they may not have seen what the cart did; However all they had to do was apologize for the error; I got none either even after I told her and showed her my knee. It is simple common courtesy.

A good example of why I will not fly anymore, it's a nightmare. I'm with this guy on the video, the airlines have such an attitude and can easily take advantages of situations so they wont have to pay out.
Lesson: don't get into it with the crew, no matter how abused you may feel. Write a letter to the airline later. 9/11, the TSA and crazy Karens have ruined flying for the rest of us.
No, Papito, Pero you cannot be cut open by a device or a cart an decide you are going to limp out of the plane when you land when someone has obviously tried to cause harm. Stop putting all women in "some Ksrens" mode. It's sexist. There are men who are just as bad, but I don't see them being labeled a special name. Leave be.
I’ve had a similar experience with flight attendants. I gently tapped an attendant on her shoulder as she passed by to ask her a question, she immediately attacked me verbally saying “don’t you ever touch me again! “ “if you do I will have you put off the plane’ I was in shock! I’m a 70 year old woman, was 67 at that time of the incident. My husband was intentionally rammed with the service cart as she passed by as his shoulder are broad and even though he is not overweight. She then told him he needed to keep himself within the area of his seat and out of the isle. He told her he was making that effort but it was impossible since the person in the middle seat was also broad shouldered. She was rude and said that was his problem and he had been warned and must comply with her demands! It’s a different world now, mean rude people everywhere!
This brings back unpleasant memories for me! Years ago my elderly father and I were flying from Maui to San Francisco on Hawaiian Airlines. As we were boarding the plane, a flight attendant yelled "move out of the way, move!". She just wanted to get by for a non urgent reason, and we didn't have but a few seconds to react especially for my old father. My father and I had never felt so disrespected on an airplane before. Never would have expected that from Hawaiian Airlines. Sucks that I will never get over that incident. Sad fact is passengers are at the mercy of the airlines and their staff. They can talk down to us if they please, but one peep of judgement on them and you're getting booted off the flight. #hawaiianairlines
This is not surprising. These airline people feel like they are some kind of Imperial overlords. I have seen them threatening to remove passengers who speak surly to them or call them out when they are rude. Gross overreactions to minor irritations. Simply because they have power to do whatever they want to people. They are the only customer service job on earth that can cause law enforcement to arrest customers whom they simply do not like
We are the only job where people can come and tell us what they are and are NOT going to do at our job. I would never go to my doctor's office and demand to use the employee bathroom or ignore a request. You ask ppl to stow their bags under their seat (which EVERYBODY knows), and they give you a hard time. I would never swat my server at a restaurant when she passes by to get her attention, but folks feel very comfortable doing it on a plane. Also, we aren't customer service agents. We are flight attendants. We hold an FAA card and are audited and can be PERSONALLY fined. People talk on their phones while I'm doing the demo. It's unbelievable the disrespect. They leave dirty diapers on the floor. It's wild.

Flight attendants are all human like us. Many are super nice. And too many are assholes as well. There have to be some rules to protect passengers too.
Have you stopped to consider the cost of that? There are over 100,000 FAs in the US. That cost will trickle down to us consumers. I've never had a single issue when flying, because I just shut up and wallow in my pathetic existence. So I'd rather not bear that extra cost for everyone else's problems.
One reason I don’t like aisle seats. The push to make money has the employees moving carts up and down the aisle as well as wide flight attendants bumping into people.
I believe everything this man says. One flight attendant dropped a can of coke and it landed on my husband’s knee. He asked for ice twice but he never got it. If he had asked one more time, he would have been in the same situation. Passengers need to endure all sorts of rude attitude from the airline people. Otherwise you get arrested.😅
The fact that the airline or the flight attendant claimed injury to the point that he (?) had to take leave is crazy. That’s fabrication in what became a legal case. I would definitely not let this drop. That attendant needs to be held accountable to the highest degree of the law.
Airline pilot here: these flight attendants are way too high on themselves. Also, filing a false federal report is punishable by up to 3 years imprisonment and a $250k fine. That’s straight out of the Federal regulations.
The anchor tried his best to give the guy a better story, that he swung his arm in a state of shock. Yet he admitted that he "tapped" the FAs shoulder to get his attention. So which is it. And how hard did he swing his arm to "get his attention".

You only make yourself sound like a @sshole when you emphasize her age and use the adjective “ugly.” Try being a little more objective-then you might be believable.
She might have been ugly but she was right. Get your body parts out of the aisle. You know that carts just fit between the seats and flight attendants can’t see over the carts.

I hate being crammed into a seat to sit still for hours but less people on a plane means higher ticket prices for all. You can call it corporate greed if they do but it is a matter of economics.

No, no. The NTSB wanted cameras. The pilot unions oppose it.
These were cameras in the cockpit that the NTSB recommended, thus the pilots union objected. The NTSB recommendation was not for cameras in the cabin area.

Yes the FAs can be bullies.

This is not surprising. These airline people feel like they are some kind of Imperial overlords. I have seen them threatening to remove passengers who speak surly to them or call them out when they are rude. Gross overreactions to minor irritations. The anchor tried his best to give the guy a better story, that he swung his arm in a state of shock. Yet he admitted that he "tapped" the FAs shoulder to get his attention. So which is it. And how hard did he swing his arm to "get his attention".
yes, where are the facts in this case?
2 separate touches!
Yes , it happened to me ,and it hurts because the carts that serve food is metal and very heavy ,the pain on my foot lasted over a week ,at the time of the incident this ugly 50 year old flight attendant told me ,now you know where to keep your foot ,not in the aisle ok ,one nasty and ugly 50 years old flight attendant I still remember this incident even today.
How do you know that she was 50? SMH
Sounds unpleasant, but she is/was correct that you should not have limbs in the aisle. That's basic common sense and courtesy...
@@davidg3944 who can determine their limbs when they are asleep?
Who's in " excruciating pain" and "goes back to sleep?" I don't believe this guy one bit !! I've seen passengers be so rude to flight attendants I actually feel so badly fir the flight attendants!! Passengers today are slobs, rude. Demanding impatient it's so bad today! In the early days passengers behaved like they were inches respective polite but today! No way do I believe this guy! Nobody goes back to sleep who's in excoriating pain! No way!
Having to be removed from a flight should have consequences.
Having to deboard a whole plane to be removed should have consequences. Having a flight be diverted because of your behavior should have consequences. Being combative with airline staff should have consequences.
It seems consequences are in short supply these days.
Flight attendant here🙋🏽♀️ please please please keep your legs, arms, back packs, etc out of the aisle. It is NEVER our intention to purposely bump someone with the meal/beverage carts.
We are doing our job and cannot see your knee when pushing the cart forward. In addition we also cannot see your knee when pulling the cart backwards.
Key takeaway: do NOT touch us in any capacity.
Why do people think this is ok??? Do people randomly touch you at your job to get your attention??? The answer is “no”.
Ok, Karen.
@ZombieTomato, “karen”? How original!!🙃
Honestly it's almost impossible for tall persons to keep their legs out of the aisle, even more so when their body relaxes in sleep
@@lindasmith5938the airplane cart dimensions are the exact width of the aisle.
If your leg or arm are sticking out, you WILL be hit by the cart.
The flight attendant isn’t hitting anyone with the cart purposely.
Anyone that has flown in an airplane knows how cramped it is when the food cart is moving through the aisle.
@@barbott5941 The guy was asleep. Can you control all your parts when you are asleep?
Story is BS
Proof that his story is BS is that his knee was apparently in excruciating pain but then he went back to sleep?!
Working on an aircraft is a tough job, but these employees have much too much power with the intelligence and education they have to qualify
Not sure what the dig about “intelligence” has to do with anything but most flight attendant (especially new hires and minorities) actually speak more than one language AND have a bachelor’s degree or higher.
@@SheIsFearfullyWonderfullyMade I call BS. I've known several Air Hostesses and they did NOT have any university education and a quick google search shows that the hardest part of qualifying is a back ground check. You should stop lying
This is the society we live in today.
As a retired career cop and investigator I have initial skeptical suspicions about the veracity of this man.
Keep your knees out of the aisle.
F unruly passengers, and power-hungry FA's. Plenty of blame on both sides of the aisle.
THIS
This is why I take Greyhound Buses, no drama, no Karen's, no oversized babies throwing tantrums.
It’s so hard to do that when you’re crossing an ocean
Yeah, it only takes 4x longer to reach your destination. I took a Greyhound ONCE in my life and swore I would never do it again. It took 24 HOURS to reach NC from Ohio. Greyhound is the worst way to travel.
@@ajspice I've used it since the 90's, I've never had a problem with it ever, and I've never seen the entitled behavior on them the way I see on these plane videos.
The main problem in this story is flight attendants are given way too much power. You as a passenger are one bad mood away from a flight attendant ruining your life as this example clearly shows.
They REALLY need to put security cameras on airplanes. Blindly believing flight attendants like this is insane.
Touching a stranger is probably not a good idea in any circumstance
It got to a point that flying in the US is simply outrageously disgusting!
What really happened beyond his storytelling is the Flight attendant accidentally bumped into him. He got pissed, wanted to take revenge and physically reacted and now he needs to retell the story so people can feel he has a reasonable explanation for his actions. That's basically the truth. There should be a bullshit AI that does this for every situation.
Agreed.
This guy is so full of ***t it's not even funny. He chimped out and is now retelling it like he's the victim. lol
How do you know?
@DaveAnderson-iwere you there?c6oo
@alelaeduplasey9468 were you there?
Sounds like a manspreading issue
Understand now cruise member act rude as my last April experience
So he's one of those people that doesn't consider other people's space and treats the airplane like his home.
Give me a break, there is not enough room in the aisles, period! The flight attendants sometimes hit people with their bodies just walking down those skinny aisles…..there needs to be more room in the aisles so people and carts can get down the aisles without bumping passengers!
LOL airlines aren't going to do that and people aren't going to pay for it. They make an announcement to keep your arms and legs inside. It's not difficult.
Just say you're a racist.
So you're in complete conscience control of your body while you're asleep?
