I am the PROUD parent of a MVSU Mean Green Marching Machine band member. It's his Freshman year and I am over excited that he is under Bonds and a part of such amazing growth, positivity and success. I can't wait ti see what's next! I'm in there ALL THE WAY! 😊❤

This is the largest and most alive that this program has ever been. We get to witness a program grow from near-death into something spectacular. As they find their sound, their identity, what qualities will they take on? So excited to witness this from the outside- I hope they catch a lot of cameras this season.

Valley was alive in the 60’s and 70’s and was invited to march in the Rose Bowl Parade. They marched with military precision and admired by PWI band directors back in the day. They also were one of the first bands to sing their notes.
This brings tears of joy to me! Being a Valley Band Alum in the early 80s (300+), this has to be the largest band in the history of MVSU. Russell Boone and Leonard Tramiel have to be looking down with a smile!❤❤

Valley will continue to grow, improve and prosper. This is going to be an interesting band season. The band announcer was vibrant and the Satin Dolls were flawless.

Valley will get better as the season progresses. At one time Valley had the largest band in the SWAC.

Just read other comments, so appreciative, as I always say "we as HBCUs we are all in it together." ❤❤ Our colleges and now Universities were established for us! Our children & children's, children should know of the history of our HBCUs... We need to pass on the Legacy to keep them strong, of course it takes $$$ also God blessings!! ❤

Can't say this good or bad. It's their first performance under Dr. Bonds, they are larger than they have been in a long time, and it's in a domed stadium.
But, I will say that I am surpassed and looking forward to seeing more from them as the season progresses. They will definitely be a problem in the SWAC.

I remember a LONG time ago in the 90s when valley was a force to be reckoned with this harkens back to then. This #WorldFamedAlumni approves keep pushing and show them jackson and alcorn are NOT the only bands in mississippi

Congratulations MVSU. Last year, that was one, if not, the lowest and worst for you all with a lot of situations that were just beyond your control. It could only go up from there and it did.
The only people not shocked by Valley's growth are Valley alums. If people would have paid attention to their performances at Mardi Gras, they would have saw the growth in the band then

They had decent numbers in 2013 but even before that year, I've never EVER seen Valley with numbers like these.
WOW...why so much hate? My son is in his 3rd year with this band and the 3rd band director. Why not be proud of their progress and give them time. The majority of the members are in their 1st year and this is after 2 and a half weeks of band camp. All in all their performance
was very impressive on a very big stage considering how far they have come. During the down years there was criticism about their size; now with increased numbers lets encourage these kids
I totally agree! My son is a Freshman and I was saddened to see the hateful comments, discouragement and put downs. These kids have heart and they want this. I don't know what happened in the past but what I witnessed Saturday has promise and I'm excited for them ALL! I believe in them! This season will be GREAT!

My son had a few colleges looking at him until Bonds sent us an email. I am so glad my son, not me, made a decision to go with, not the most popular school, but with the program we felt had his best interest at heart and potential to be great. Bonds is that guy! I can vouch for that!

It’s always good to see a band program come up in numbers. You can tell that their arrangements and show style didn’t take the increase into consideration. It would have been better to have they band face the crowd during their actual drill number to better showcase their sound, Step 2 drills are not for everyone regardless of their size. Be very interesting to see their continued growth.

@@tamikaweber007 from ‘99-03 with the Marching Storm. In the trumpet section we marched forward, backwards, and sideways always with our horns pointed at the crowd. Louder instruments such as trombones and tubas can get away without always facing crowd because they have a wider spreading sound because of the bell circumference but our show was always with the crowd in mind.

High school seniors😂 in the Delta should always consider Mississippi Valley State University B4 any other HBCU or school to strengthen the Delta area, the reason Valley was started initially. Having grown up in Jackson I remember going to JSU vs. MVSU football in the 1970s. MVSU was huge in terms of numbers. Valley also had a style unique to them in that they had a corps marching style and they were very good at it. I hate that they abandoned their style in favor of looking like other SWAC marching bands. Not knocking their new band director but they should have hired someone that would have restored their corps traditions, maybe even with some new twinking.
I'm just amazed. This band went from about 30 members to 250+ in a years time. Thats says a lot about the band director. Grambling do you see this?🤔
If I must say Mississippi valley state looks good and the band sounds good keep up the good work can't wait to see u all and jsu at the fifth quarter
