I’m so glad I stumbled across this video/worksheet! I’ve been lettering for many years now for family/friends/myself, but always struggled with real calligraphy, especially with brush pens. Never knowing how much pressure, and wanting to pick the pen up or stop. Obviously practice helps, but I’ve always been so hesitant and nervous practicing with brush pens- until you get the hang of it you can easily mess up the pen. 😳 so the thought of ruining, and needing to replace, a good brush pen is heartbreaking (& expensive). I’m excited to practice with pencil ✏️- I can work on grip, pressure, consistency, etc without the worries I normally have. Then maybe I’ll get better at real calligraphy and be able to practice with other pens.😅 ..headed to print this worksheet right now 💃… Thanks TPK! 🥰
I LOVE that approach to this -- that's an incredible game plan, and you're right -- you'll feel so ready to take on the pointed pen/brush pen once you master pencil calligraphy.
I always find something new from TPK - Thank you!
More to come! :)
Thank you for this! I love having a way to practice when out and about without having to take ink!
I'm glad we are in the same boat! Thanks for watching!
Love the alternative of using pencil. This is great!
I am glad you like it! I hope that you try it out!
My favourite way to practice during work meetings!
That is great! Thank you!
A useful tip when you are in a situation without your nib and you ink but you want to practice. Thanks!
Sure thing! Thank you for watching! I hope you get to try it out!

do you wax the paper before you write or after you write?
Definitely after!
