The unstable hillside is the piece without the trees, so the problem is man made because the trees have been taken and what is left is unstable. To replace the trees would be great but to provide a stable slope would take possibly 20 years. to establish. The snow/rock sheds are common on the railways as well as alpine roads (Loch Carron road and rail example at the side of the loch). Finding a stable bedrock is going to dictate any solution both above and below the current or future road course. (may have to go back to the route of the military road with a spiral at the top rather then the zig-zag)
Stabilize the slopes with trees, will need Scots Pine as well. Slower growing but has an exceptional root spread. The road should also be on stilts. IMO
The proposals for the rest and be thankful was on the Scottish news a few weeks ago. They definitely need to come up with something that would be sympathetic to the environment and not something that is going to be an eyesore to the surrounding landscape.
Moments silence dor the millions handed over to GEOROPES which achieved zilch otger than lining pockets. Amazing what having a friend in parliament can do. Each and every employee working there when asked openly admitted they were achieving absalutamente nada, but happy to take the money whike it was going. Follow the money. Georopes, Ballachulish

Put a lid over the top, like they do throughout the Alps.
I'll be there in late October enroute Inverary. Hope it'll be done by then. All night flight and driving on the left will be a good enough challenge.
Do you get many trips onto the Rothesay peninsular? Lochgoilhead, Dunoon, Tighnabruaich and the side of Loch Fyne(east)
I have been to Lochgoilhead once and been to dunoon many times, but not much else sadly

I have seen that there was ment to be a 470m tunnel like Lochcarron hope your well mate take it easy
Instead of causing tailbacks why don't they open the Road IN the Glen , like they used to because of land slides .
Spoke too soon!
It was always going to happen again😅🤷🏻♀️
