I don't want this to come off as backhanded at all, but it is so nice to see someone who is successful and so lovely normalize having to live with your parents in certain seasons of life. From a fellow temporary parents home dweller in her early 20s, thank you❤️
Yes! And to say that you like living with them. I loved living with my folks! We all knew it was temporary when I moved back (twice), and that just made it that much sweeter!
Agreed!! My in laws just bought a condo in FL, my husband and I can work from anywhere so we're suuuuper pumped to head down and escape MI winter! At first I was like "Is it weird we're basically living at my in law's vacation home?" than I was like "...fuck it, as long as they don't care I don't give a shiz what anyone else thinks. I hate snow too much" lol
its so weird because in my culture parents DIE to live with kids forever. Like literally we have to fight and scream to move out for one year and they cry because they miss us so much daily
OK WHAT!!! There's a picture of your parents living room on pinterest that I've been swooning over forever and I can't believe it's their house!!! That's crazy.
It's nice to see a bookshelf just full of books. I'm so used to seeing the bookshelves all perfectly decorated with books just used as props to hold plants and knick knacks. It's OK to just have a bookshelf full of BOOKS, too! Makes me totally want to hang out in that room with a cozy fire, glass of wine and just grab a book to read. I also get the "Paris" thing. It was never even on one of my "MUST VISIT" lists and Italy truly is my favorite but there is just something about Paris. I just made my first gallery wall in my new apt and four of the pics are framed prints that I took in Paris. I'm a fairly decent photographer so they are really lovely photos - not just the typical tourist snapshots. I love your parent's home. It's beautiful but also so warm and inviting.
That hidden pantry is completely 100% amazing. In 2022 vernacular it's lit. You asked several times for an opinion of the curtains in front of the closet so I will be honest. They would drive me crazy both in how it looks to have them be the closet "door" and having to pull at them every time I needed something in the closet. But I have no idea what other door arrangement is possible for that space. The rest of the place is stunning and beautifully decorated. Except for the fluorescent bulbs. But you knew that.
I agree WRT the curtains. I really like how the pattern meshes with the overall decor, but I'd find them fussy as a closet door, particularly with the added length. *However,* I'm a contrarian who loathes almost all closet doors. (Regular doors that have space to fully open up are good, and the space needs to be able to accommodate a permanently open door. Accordion and sliding doors make me angry.) Unsurprisingly, I've yanked the doors off of most of my closets. :) My non-closet input is that I think that the chandelier looks like exposed wires *and* I think that it's fantastic - definitely a great choice to keep it. And your parents have a fantastic space!
My opinion on curtains is that they should only dress windows. It’s what god intended. Even shower curtains are weird and unsightly, lol. I don’t hate Susan’s curtains but I would dislike them less on windows ;)
I don’t hate fabric as a closet door, but I really do hate the fabric…But then, all things Cape Cod make me nauseous. Except for the actual cape - ocean and lobsters are great, but they don’t belong in homes. Just my opinion. With all of that said, they make curtain rods that move like doors - one on each side of the door. That might be your middle ground between doors and curtains. Plus, those split curtains are very turn-of-the-century, in style.
This is literally my dream home. Just very jealous here😍 Only thiing I would perhaps do is have slightly bolder art here and there, but the balance of antique, midcentury and contemporary is absolutely incredible. Adding this in as an after thought, the house is the perfect merger or English and French architecture and interior design. Don't know what Chicago houses look like, but there's definitely English and French elements there, so I can see your obsession with those vibes Paige
Thank you for serving us the content we didn't know we needed. I adore your parent's home and the laid-back, calming editing/filming style you chose. Honestly, I love every single one of your videos!
Your parents home is elegant, warm and inviting. The ship curtain is a nice touch of whimsy. I appreciate the way Susan (and you) have pulled together a cohesive look with unique pieces. The architecture in the home is chefs kiss, and your parents seem like people I could hang out with. I share your Dad’s opinion of Obama. I mean, what’s not to love about that phenomenal human being?
Had to watch this on my big screen TV bcs I was so excited!! The fact that your parents decided to keep all the architecture and some unique choices from previous owners really help pull the switch in making this home f*cking awesome (as well as taking your advice on a few great finds). Kinda selling me on Chicago. Also - the chandelier in the living room reminds me of the end of a witch’s broomstick (which could be a be a vibe I guess, but I’d personally opt for something different).
Holy s**t dude. That great room is SO GOOD. And the dining, and kitchen, and that bathroom vanity IS INCREDIBLE. Like I’m mad about it. Also all the plants are so good. Congrats to Susan and Mark (and you) on great taste.
Having been born and raised in Chicago (yes, in the city, not suburbs) this video clearly shows some of the best details of three-flat homes. Your parents home is beautiful with all the architectural details. I love the fireplace with mirror, the hidden pantry with that amazing mirrored door. Like you, I too love small kitchens. Can you at least share what neighborhood they live? There are so many cool ones. I miss Chicago!😢
*Juxtaposition* . I *LOVE* this home. The architecture is stunning, the simple furnishings with the pop of unexpected really make the space. This home feels styled, relaxed and cozy while pulling in more modern elements. The light fixture in the dining room is a win for me and I enjoy seeing the mix of high/low in furniture/styling pieces. I would love a hidden pantry. This home is A.D. worthy for sure. Let's dine alfresco in that gorgeous garden.
What an amazing space! Love the details. Very cozy without being fussy. Love you did day and night shots. The warm glow in the evening is divine! Ur parents are too cute with your mom patting her pillow as she gets ready for bed. Thank you and them for sharing their space with us
You get to LIVE HERE??? I'm so envious. Honestly, would love to see how they decorate their living area for the holidays. I imagine it to be super duper cozy
Love the sailboat curtains, obsessed with the print. Hate the chrome broom chandelier on its own, but kinda like it in the space? Like the college boys, coffee table, it gives that room a little sparkle.
Thank you for appreciating Chicago architecture so much! I get so sad walking around the city sometimes seeing gorgeous houses get knocked down or remodeled into the boxy-modernized crap that will fall apart in 5 years (looking at you Windy City Rehab 👀😆)
This was nice 😊 I mostly enjoyed how easy it is to see how much you guys love each other, and the cute family stories like your dad wearing your medal on your birthday ❤ The wire-y chandelier: what I can tell you for certain is that it is perfect for Halloween! It reminds me of a haunted winter forest.
Love this! Classic Chicago architecture, great style, what’s not to love? I think the closet curtains are a fun touch, and the pantry is so cool. As a transplanted Chicago girl I understand completely how you feel about the city.
Paige, I’ve been watching your videos over and over. I’m going through a crisiseseses as well (divorce) and I find your stuff so light hearted even if it’s not your intention. Thanks for this, I’m gonna go off and buy an ashtray off Etsy now
Love their sophisticated and lovely home! You can always tell when a home has been curated with some intention, rather than just bought. The space blends the old and new quite well. The cameo of your mom padding that red throw pillow was all we needed…. You clearly have her sass. Great video thank you for sharing! Ps. I like the sailboat curtains. I do not like the wire chandelier it look’s unkept and dangerous.
“I probably shouldn’t be going through this drawer. I wonder what else is in here”? You crack me up! Love the apartment. Cool place to land while in crisis.
Wow, what an incredible home- I would definitely be living with my parents if they had this space, especially that cutie courtyard space!! Best part of Chicago is that traditional meets industrial feel. Honestly not a big fan of the chandelier. Love the mix of styles in the house generally, but since you asked- that piece does indeed looks like a big ole' electric wiring nightmare. Love the sailboat curtains though- kind of whimsical and fun compared to everything else!
I love this F***ing Home! Love everything about this place including the sailboat curtains. This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and I love it! Thank you so much for sharing it. My Grandparents lived in Chicago for 25 years & my whole family just adores Chicago.
Oh my goodness, I am just a couple minutes in and I am LOVING the architecture and all of the beautiful, traditional details. Gorgeous! 10:43 🙋♀️🙋♀️🤣
I already always loved home tours, but the way you show the same spot at different points in day/different lighting scenarios and even throw in some rl action of people living life in the room... idk it just has such a cozy wholesome feel. It gives a much fuller experience. Anyhoo I found your channel recently and have been marathoning your videos. Thanks for the fun content (however my wallet is not thankful as I have now become too into lamps).
I have that same round table you thrifted for $30…mine is from my grandmother and is definitely from the 1920’s. Your parents have a beautiful home…the architecture and the furnishings are to die for!
I love the chandelier. I love a mixture of everything to make homes unique. It looks lived-in but polished at the same time. Do you remember Anne Archer and Michael Douglas' NY apartment in "Fatal Attraction?" Reminds me of that vibe and I love it. Great space. I also love how you love lighting in general and encourage people to get small canned lights to highlight corners and plants, etc... It really makes a space. The architectural details are wonderful!
Ugh…what a wonderful space! The architecture does half the work. And all of the treasures with stories. So inspiring. I like the sailboat curtains. That color that you blended so well into is warm and they are unique. ⛵️
Your parents house is so cool, so lived in. I love the fact that they have curtains instead of closet doors. I needed closet doors in my room and since I couldn’t find something that gave me easy access at an affordable price, I opted for curtains instead. Love them
The entire “check out this fu**ing house” series is so good! Loved your parents place❤❤❤ also a BIG yay to the nautical curtains, those personal touches is what makes a home!
I love your parents' home. Thanks for putting out such helpful and entertaining videos. Just wanted to let you know - I'm not sure if this is regional, but "outhouse" where I'm from means like a little out building with a toilet lol. So when you said someone "lives in this outhouse," I cracked up!
I had to pause on their bookcase. Half the books are the same ones I have on mine. Your mom and dad must be really cool! Love their home and your comments on it. 😊
Love the house! You can really feel the… age and maturity (compliments obviously!!) of the design and collections that hopefully we all can achieve one day. Everything is so effortless and timeless!
What a beautiful home. Actually love the sail curtains and wouldn’t press/steam them, the wrinkles just add to the charm-what a find! So jealous of the architecture. Awesome hidden pantry. Favorite, I have to agree is the bathroom vanity. I have never seen anything like it before. Thank you and your parents for sharing.
I love this f***ing home so much. you would always find me sitting in the library next to those windows!! or in the back wine garden. OH so delightful! every detail is a fav...the wooden framed mirrors, the fireplaces, the round table --(I searched forever for mine, paid 5x what you did and it's half as nice as yours!), and the small sink. everything c'est chic! the curtains aren't me, but I like your intentions. they stay. the chandelier? when you put the camera on it, I said, 'no more wire hangers!' It looks like a tangle of wire hangers. but, as an art piece, I would tolerate it. lol. thank you for sharing!
Born and raised in the Chicago suburbs. Chicago is the best! Love the drum table in the living room. Used to have one of those with an inset leather top. Gorgeous!
Pristine taste! The chandelier is cool, but messy, and the curtains grew on me. Your dad seems like the guy who genuinely enjoys being a father ❤ and so does your mom. Y’all are a lovely and a close fam ❤
So beautiful and cozy.. must be nice to have a mum who is also into interior decorating and thrifting pieces but also have the same eye for cool things.. I wonder what they do for a living, thanks for sharing Paige
I LOVE this house. I think it's the first interiors in a long time that I have the feeling of wanting to live there when I see it. I live in western Canada and none of our houses have this kind of old architecture and unique outdoor living. thanks for showing!
Wow Paige I love your parents home and I can so relate to downsizing into a smaller more manageable space. We have just renovated a small two bedroom cottage beach house and have decided to make it our full time home. I'm not sure why but there's something about moving into a small charming space that feels like the right transition after raising a family in a larger more maintanence heavy home. I love the architectural detail of their condo but mostly I like the nods to their personal style, their obvious love of their daughter and family and I only wish I had done silhouettes of my three gorgeous sons!!! So so fun!! Thank you for sharing, k
I like the black kitchen. I like fridges with that grill situation on top. I like the basket of fruit in the window sill and the colorful fruits on the counter that offset the black and white. 😚👌🏾
Oh we were waiting for this video for so long. And it’s 100% worthy! Your mom has a great eye and taste And I love that there’s so many places to sit and talk Love it
Love their house! Did not like the sail boat curtains - I’m not sure if it’s more the pattern or the color that seems off with the rest of the room but they’re def struggling. The millwork throughout was to die for, and the Obama photo was just so perfect, particularly in Chicago.
I just found this series, the name got my attention. I've watched them all, please do more!!! Anyway I love the closet panels in your parents bedroom. I think the color is great.
Yooo ahah i gotta say.. you crack me up so much. Your videos make me happy! Also, i pretty much have the same style/taste as you when it comes to home decor, so it's always a pleasure to watch your vids! Keep em commin!! Also also, your parents have a really nice home :)
Your parent's home is freaking GOOOOORGEOUS and I'm absolutely obsessed with the secret pantry. I also laughed out loud when you closed the closet curtains and your jacket was the exact same color. It was just so silly to me for some reason.
Absolutely love Susan and Mark’s home!! I think the closet curtains are fun. Probably wouldn’t have picked them myself BUT the color pallet on them works well in the space 😂plus they match your outfit in the video!
The drape in bedroom in front of the closet works really, I have what I call the time out closet. I think something similar would work. You’ve put a great idea in my head, thanks!
Their home is beautiful, looks super cozy but elegant. I think the chandelier is pretty cool, even though it's not something I'd pick out. I love the curtains in the bedroom, too, but trying to decide if I'd like it better with a different paint color. Also the tiny bathroom sink is adorable.
Love your parents' home. It's preppy but not boring. The architecture is amazing- that crown molding! And yes to keeping the sail boat curtains. The colors are great and it adds a little whimsy. Thanks for another great video and loved the night shots.
I love everything. I love the curtains with sailboats. I love the night shots. I love the kitchen and outdoor spaces. I love the teeny lamps. I love the bathroom sink and furniture flanking it. I have that same lamp that's next to the living room couch. Target!!
Fabulous architecture! Not a fan of the wire light fixture. I almost like the boat panels…beautifully decorated…thank you Mark and Susan for allowing us a peek into your lovely home.💜💜
I do like the curtains! Nice print, good color. Great video keep it up! I love the real house style. I love a small kitchen too. I don’t even have a dishwasher. Don’t want one.
my mother had the coffee table's cousin side table in the 80's ( I think) in her living room. With Pink walls, a chintz sofa, and a 70's bent wood rocker. It was a fabulous living room, looking back.
Lovely! I'm in a historical home in Hyde Park and adore the old architectural styles that are specific to Chicago/St. Louis. All that woodwork! In the main bedroom, I'd recommend switching out the sconces to something with black hardware and a softer light. The black would coordinate well with the silhouettes above the headboard, which are adorable. Also, if the paint changed to something darker (like a rich navy, which looks amazing with all that wood and the white trim) you could try an antiqued brass. Re: the closet, I'd lean in to the Frenchiness a bit more with the closet curtains-perhaps a canvas with thin vertical stripes (either contrasting or tonal)? Or a plain thick linen. The fabric should have more heft. You could also sew in a few weights or a chain on the bottom of the current curtains to keep them looking neat and crisp. Finally, amazing secret pantry, but for practicality's sake I'd consider adding a handle. Maybe some cool antique crystal, brass, or ceramic door knob?
Beautiful home, architecturally awesome. I love all the posing you do in these videos. 😂 I would nix the broom chandelier, unless you’re going for a Halloween occult vibe. 🎃
Beautiful home! I've been on the lookout for a mirror to put over my fireplace. Their living room has inspired me to go BIG with it! I also really like the weird chandelier.
Hi Paige. I'm from Chicago and I absolutely love the fact that your dad has a picture of Obama on such a prominent wall in their condo. Thanks for sharing. The place is very stylish.
I noticed the “floating heads” over the bead thru the mirror because I just saw them yesterday when you showed your T shirt collection in one of your videos.😅
I love the architecture of this home. I paused it to show my husband the lamp you talked about by the bookcase because that’s exactly the style I’m looking for in a corner of our house. Love an excuse to go thrifting!
I love your parents home!! So cozy and beautiful and just ahhhh… going to go clean and tidy and rearrange some things right now and dream…. Thanks for the inspiration!!
What a beautiful home. And I say home because it feels comfortable and well lived in. I actually just want to sit in those chairs by the bookshelf and read for hours. I wasn't a big fan of the curtains on the closet until you showed a close up. I think they add a touch of whimsy to the the room. I do agree with mom though, I hate downlit reading lamps directly above my head, so I get that! The witches broom chandelier is a cool surprise and I actually like it. I would describe this home being like a warm cozy red wine by a fire on a winter's night. Great job! And how you keep a straight face with sarcasm is fun to watch always!
I love the sailboat Ralph Lauren’esque curtains! Help me with my beach house now! Hahaha. I know you’re not near the coast but I have a gorgeous beachfront house and I’d love non-tacky nautical decor ideas from you! Love your channel!!
Your parents sound/look so cool! Love the nautical curtains, don’t really like the chandelier, but absolutely loved the home❤ I love this series so much!!
Love your parents’ home❤❤❤ it’s elegant and cozy, not fussy. Especially love the fireplace, bookcase, living room vibe! Hard no for me on the witches broom chandelier-maybe in a more modern space but it just seems too harsh here.
Paige would you be able to do a video on how to do stylish renter friendly upgrades? There are these standard apartment "chandelier " lights that I would like to makeover in my apartment. I would like to see your stylish solutions for these type of things.
Thank you for including night shots. Nobody ever does this.
right? it really changes the vibe of the space and shows a more realistic feel of the way one would live there.❤
I totally agree!!! Genius. Gives us the perfect sense of how cozy it is. And how important lighting is!
I don't want this to come off as backhanded at all, but it is so nice to see someone who is successful and so lovely normalize having to live with your parents in certain seasons of life. From a fellow temporary parents home dweller in her early 20s, thank you❤️
And your parents home is lovely. All the details like doors throughout the apartment and the windows in the great room are so special.
Yes! And to say that you like living with them. I loved living with my folks! We all knew it was temporary when I moved back (twice), and that just made it that much sweeter!
That is so common in many cultures, I don't know what the issue is with Americans.
Agreed!! My in laws just bought a condo in FL, my husband and I can work from anywhere so we're suuuuper pumped to head down and escape MI winter! It’s so nice that the home is beautiful and warm and not overly fussy. Love it!

Paige pleeease make a holiday decor vid!! 🫶🏻 I love your perspective and input

I love this series so much. It’s my unattainable life goal to have my home be featured one day lol
Thank you for serving us the content we didn't know we needed. I adore your parent's home and the laid-back, calming editing/filming style you chose. Honestly, I love every single one of your videos!
The ceiling height is incredible! It also makes doors, frames, and windows custom. It’d be hard to find ready made stuff to match.
Your parents home is elegant, warm and inviting. The ship curtain is a nice touch of whimsy. I appreciate the way Susan (and you) have pulled together a cohesive look with unique pieces. I did and thought the same!!

I don't think Paige should share the neighborhood. TMI
Looks pretty obviously (aesthetically and socioeconomically lol) like the north side to me. I’d guess Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Andersonville
*Juxtaposition* . I *LOVE* this home. The architecture is stunning, the simple furnishings with the pop of unexpected really make the space. I love the chandelier but I can’t tell if I like it in a formal dining room. I was thinking witch’s broom more than exposed wiring lol
You get to LIVE HERE??? I'm so envious. Honestly, would love to see how they decorate their living area for the holidays. I imagine it to be super duper cozy
you and your moms relationship sounds so sweet! it's clear where you get your impeccable taste.
also, the sofa is fire.
Have *so* been waiting for this. Definitely not disappointing! Love that the whole fam has great taste.
Love the sailboat curtains, obsessed with the print. Hate the chrome broom chandelier on its own, but kinda like it in the space? Like the college boys, coffee table, it gives that room a little sparkle.

She's the worst!

Keep the closet curtains! They look both exquisite and slightly quirky and reflect their taste. Really cool condo altogether!

Ugh…what a wonderful space! The architecture does half the work. And all of the treasures with stories. So inspiring.
I like the sailboat curtains. That color that you blended so well into is warm and they are unique. ⛵️
I love the library room!!! So warm and beautiful! And so many books!!! 😍 Perfect!
Your parents house is so cool, so lived in. I love the fact that they have curtains instead of closet doors. I needed closet doors in my room and since I couldn’t find something that gave me easy access at an affordable price, I opted for curtains instead. Love them
Wow I love their home. So classy and beautiful. Thanks for showing us. Loveeee the architecture so gorgeous. That pantry is genious ! Cheers
The entire “check out this fu**ing house” series is so good! Loved your parents place❤❤❤ also a BIG yay to the nautical curtains, those personal touches is what makes a home!
Love this! Don't know about the wire chandelier though. I feel like you could have something that brings more warmth to the room
I love your parents' home. Thanks for putting out such helpful and entertaining videos. Just wanted to let you know - I'm not sure if this is regional, but "outhouse" where I'm from means like a little out building with a toilet lol. So when you said someone "lives in this outhouse," I cracked up!
hahahah my mom did correct me on that and was like “outhouse? ha! coachhouse”
@@wasselpa 🤣🤣
If my parents lived there I would not move out 😂
I had to pause on their bookcase.
Beautiful home and architecture. Thank you for sharing. I too will somehow hopefully wind up back in Chicago. Miss my city.
Love, love, love the artsy chandelier! Also love the kitchen! ❤️
Your Mom has great taste too ! I think if she was so inclined she too could have her own channel.. Great place, Great video ! Thanks for sharing
In love with your parents home! So much character! Thank them for letting us be looky loos!👀
Great tour, i love the little stories around the decor items. I'm watching for a second time.
I like the black kitchen. I like fridges with that grill situation on top. I like the basket of fruit in the window sill and the colorful fruits on the counter that offset the black and white. 😚👌🏾
This fucking home is precious!! I love the character in the fireplace and the moldings around the windows and ceilings. So cozy and charming!
Loving the dark walls, the wooden fierplace and touch of red in the bedroom. The closet curtain is perfect. Fav room!
Oh we were waiting for this video for so long. And it’s 100% worthy!
Your mom has a great eye and taste
And I love that there’s so many places to sit and talk
Love it
Wow, wow, wow, This place is so good. You can tell where you got your great style.
Love their house! Did not like the sail boat curtains - I’m not sure if it’s more the pattern or the color that seems off with the rest of the room but they’re def struggling. The millwork throughout was to die for, and the Obama photo was just so perfect, particularly in Chicago.
Your home is cozy and really feels like home. Non pretentious. The moldings are beautiful. It’s like a movie set.
The quirky items in your parents' home is so fun! I also love the editing and the pacing of this. lovely
the sail boat curtains are nice and work great with the red and wall shade. yes
I love how you created interest to your story by changing the light and exposure. I think light is the 4th dimension of decorating (3D + light).
LOVE the sailboat curtains in bedroom. What a nice surprise. Sophisticated and playful!!! I want. GREAT FIND!!!!
I love everything. I love the curtains with sailboats. I love the night shots. I love the kitchen and outdoor spaces. I love the teeny lamps. I love the bathroom sink and furniture flanking it. I have that same lamp that's next to the living room couch. Target!!
Love the boat curtains! not really into the wire chandelier. Really like how the cold and warm tones and textures are mixed in this house!
such a wonderful cozy and VERY stylish home 😍
I would nix the broom chandelier, unless you’re going for a Halloween occult vibe. 🎃
What a great house. Love the sailboat curtains; absolutely detest the unbent wire hangers chandelier.
Beautiful home! I've been on the lookout for a mirror to put over my fireplace. Their living room has inspired me to go BIG with it! I also really like the weird chandelier.
It's a lovely space, both cool and homey. I'm very jealous of their gorgeous courtyard 🌿
Hi Paige. I'm from Chicago and I absolutely love the fact that your dad has a picture of Obama on such a prominent wall in their condo. Thanks for sharing. The place is very stylish.
I like the wirey chandelier and I weirdly love the boat curtains on the closet too!
Love your channel!!
.."non-tacky nautical decor ideas..." YES PLEASE! Second this idea :)
Your parents sound/look so cool! Love the nautical curtains, don’t really like the chandelier, but absolutely loved the home❤ I love this series so much!!
Beautiful home! Love the architectural details, the lighting, the fireplaces, the patio, even the cute little bathroom sink! 😊
