Danke
Bryan Ferry is a true artist. He has made this song so haunting, so beautiful. It has a Vangellis feel, especially the fade out ending. Thank you Robert Palmer for the composition, thank you Bryan Ferry for bravely making this your own.
Just lovely-- like meeting someone you thought you'd loved and lost, but the thoughtfulness, sincerity, and intimacy are all still there after all these years.
the original is one of my favorite songs ever. and this cover gives me goose bumps from start to finish. such a fantastic interpretation with deepness, feeling and an 80s vibe. been listening to it the whole day now. this could just as well be the soundtrack from an 80s movie.....damn its finished, gotta hit play again.
The first time I experienced MDMA was while listening to Todd Terje-Inspector Norse. Todd's always had a special place in my heart since then, and now to find out that he's collaborated with the man, the legend Bryan Ferry. Wow, such a beautiful unity. Bryan Is like Nostalgia incarnate. Can't believe my luck that these two have came together.
You know, it's been over ten years since taking 'e' - back then it was late 90's/early 00's trance. The revival sort that the 80's kids will openly piss on (and I respect that because they probably had the best era - I got caught up in the tail end of it all, and it was actually pretty alright). Trying to imagine this track while under the influence though? I honestly have no idea what would happen. I hope it would be good - my past experience disagrees. I always loved that narcotics could bring the most elaborate levels of communication out of people though - agree or disagree on a subject, serotonin would let you let bygones be bygones and I've always tried to take that spirit forward in my usual life. Think I'm saying, hell fucking yeah, awesome, can we talk about it more.
I was happy to find this track on the Netflix show "Lovesick". I always loved Robert Palmer's version bit this one is more ethereal, more world weary. Great cover.
Marilyn Brooks I came here following lovesick as well. Though i am not sure this is the exact same version that they played in the episode on lovesick.
This song is ideal to be heard on an evening long drive -- wind against your face, golden sunset and continuously changing landscape around you... The end credits of HBO series 'Industry' (S01E08) made me to look for this song. I love this! 😎
@@dianaberry So fucking what? Todd Terje is a masterful musician and Bryan Ferry, well Bryan Ferry was just the frontman for one of the most important bands ever.
I just heard this on RTL (transmitted from France on Long Wave to the UK) in London and had to "Shazam" it. What a stunning version ! It has atmospheric gravitas and isn't it amazing to learn that Bryan Ferry is still singing at 69 years of age? Teriffic !
+Candolad '...atmospheric gravitas...' - I think that might be the most awesome pair of paired words I've seen on RUclips for quite some time. If you don't mind, I'll be recycling that one. Awesome words, awesome music.
The emotional version!❤❤❤ Beside Ferry’s soothe voice , dont forget Todd’s arrangement and his choice of the elements of the sounds/VST. And of course the grand finale is the piano melody from the Nord’s ❤❤
The original is the first single I ever reviewed. Remains one of my favourites of all time.... this is a real creepover. And in it's own way a thing of majesty
Johnny's always running around Trying to find certainty He needs all the world to confirm That he ain't lonely Mary counts the walls Knows he tires easily Johnny thinks the world would be right If it could buy truth from him Mary says he changes his mind More than a woman But she made her bed Even when the chance was slim Running around Running around Johnny says he's willing to learn when he decides he's a fool Johnny says he'd live anywhere When he earns time Mary combs her hair Says she should be used to it Mary always hedges her bets She NEVER knows what to think She says that he still acts like he's being discovered Scared that he'll be caught Without a second thought Running around Running around Running around Running around Johnny feels he's wasting his breath Trying to talk sense to her Mary says he's lacking a real sense of proportion So she combs her hair Knows he tires easily Johnny's always running around Trying to find certainty He needs all the world to confirm That he ain't lonely Mary counts the walls Says she should be used to it Running around Running around Johnny's always running around Running around source: www.lyricsondemand.com/t/toddterjelyrics/johnnyandmarylyrics.html
I actually thought this was a new version when i heard it at the end of the closing episode of the first season of 'Industry', can't believe it's been around for years and I've only just heard it. Stunning.
Soy una fanatica de la carrera de Bryan me encanta cada vez que da un giro nuevo y nos sorprende con un re-make siempre agregandole su estilo tan personal lleno de sensualidad y sofisticación definitivamente su voz y estilo son un clasico.
The Ferry Ride is much smoother and relaxed, voice and instruments are relaxed atmosphere, Ferry ride is old and much more mature and experienced keep them coming Brio:)
EVERYDAY, I SLOWLY DANCE WITH THIS MUSIC IN MEMORY OF Michel WHO DIED A AT AGE OF 35 OF AIDS, and I cry ...

My eight year old son has fallen in love with this CD ( Avonmore ). Music that truly crosses generations.
Yes, the synth layer is over the top. That's why I keep coming to this version instead of the shorter one
.
This song is so deep.
The soundtrack of a love that never happened.

The first time i could look right through a mirror, it was because i listened to this song! The lsd could might have had something to do with it ?!
Haunting, deep, melodic and transportive. Absolute masterpiece from start to finish.
The transition from the outro of Delorean Dynamite into this is stunning.

This is one of the VERY few covers that I consider superior to the original.

On repeat! Love the 80's vibe!
I was just at at the crossroads , then i realized there was more in this world, and time is a long time
I have loved his music since about mid 1967, this is the best he has done and goes to the top for me.
What a marvellous creation. Thank you Bryan and Todd :)
Mr. Todd I dont know why you are't in rock n roll hall of fame... your notes touch the strings of souls

Amazing! Bryan Ferry singing a Robert Palmer tune! Two of my favourite UK artists. Thanks for sharing.
Fits perfectly in Twin Peaks series....
Only when it was over I realised how good this tune was, so I played it again
One of the best song I've been listen nowadays! Todd is awesome, what he did from the original one, is amazing!

one of my favorite song ever!
PERFECT!!!
This should have at least 1000x more views. This song builds a whole haunting world
I hear definitely echoes of Vangelis in this arrangment.
Professicchio you hear vangelis in every post-vangelis electronic stuff :)
Professicchio That's exactly what I thought of. This is a Breakfast Club-like conception.

Yeah I can picture slow motion running in the rain . And a stopwatch.........
I love this tune!!!
odlot.... jedna z najpięknieszych piosenek...
Johnny's always running around
Trying to find certainty
He needs all the world to confirm
That he ain't lonely
Mary counts the walls
Knows he tires easily
Johnny thinks the world would be right
If it could buy truth from him
Mary says he changes his mind
More than a woman
But she made her bed
Even when the chance was slim
Running around
Running around
Johnny says he's willing to learn
when he decides he's a fool
Johnny says he'd live anywhere
When he earns time
Mary combs her hair
Says she should be used to it
Mary always hedges her bets
She NEVER knows what to think
She says that he still acts like he's being discovered
Scared that he'll be caught
Without a second thought
Running around
Running around
Running around
Running around
Johnny feels he's wasting his breath
Trying to talk sense to her
Mary says he's lacking a real sense of proportion
So she combs her hair
Knows he tires easily
Johnny's always running around
Trying to find certainty
He needs all the world to confirm
That he ain't lonely
Mary counts the walls
Says she should be used to it
Running around
Running around
Johnny's always running around
Running around
