Horses will try to avoid, if at all possible, stepping on the rider--they will try to jump over. It all happens in a split second. Horses do not like to fall down and will do what they can to avoid falling, if they can, and "save" themselves. Unfortunately sometimes they can't.....

@@Oswald_Thatendswald Again it doesn’t matter. Hot Rod Charlie endangered the life of both Midnight Bourbon and Paco Lopez. Midnight Bourbon is an extremely rare case in which the horse lives in this situation. Most horse who do what he did usually end up breaking a leg or something, the fact that he didn’t is very rare. But, the DQ needed to happen, because HRC and Flavien can’t get away for that bc if it happens again, I’m afraid the outcome won’t be as nice next time. A horse does NOT have to fall to result in a DQ, your guy’s logic is terrifying, cause you don’t want horses to be DQ’d unless another horse falls down, but that shouldn’t have to happen

Thanks to the Ortiz brothers and that idiot Kent Desormeoux for their blatant abuse of the whip over and over and over again resulting in the rule change for the whip... Speedy recovery for Paco Lopez and his mount as well.....

I own horses at monmouth. The no whip rule had NOTHING to do with over whipping....dont believe that for a minute. Over the last 10 years after every turf at monmouth, race track maintenance guys would find 4 or 5 "machinas" or buzzers. Without a whipping motion, scumbag jockeys can't use buzzers to fix outcomes and hurt horses.

@@MrJenten10 I m not disagreeing with you, however the crops they now use are like feathers. They don't hurt horses. The no whip rule should be national. If a rider carries no whip, and is forced to keep both hands on the reins AT ALL TIMES,it is virtually impossible to use a BUZZER. Buzzers are an equal threat to the integrity to this game as drugs.....

@@marklewen9384 Thanks i fully understand the purpose of the riding, however as a fan of horse racing Saratoga, Belmont The Big A, i have seen firsthand jockeys with no hope of finishing in the money beating their mounts,to use the crop to control the animal is one thing to bludgeon the animal so you can finish in the money and get some pesos is clearly another

@@MrJenten10 I m not saying ALL riders use a buzzer. Some riders whip far too much; they dint know better. I was lucky to have Ramon Dominguez ride for me when he was starting out at Delaware. He used to tell me he could get horses to run faster with his hands only, but some horses had to be "woken up" with 1 or 2 of his famous roundhouse whips.
