Why would they not stop when the rider came off the horse? You are just asking for disaster at that point. Very lucky the horses and riders were okay considering a horse and rider both rolled and hit the ground after the grey ducked out and cut everyone off.
No wonder people advocate against racing.
In hunter/jumpers anytime there is an undersaddle with more then one horse and a rider falls off everyone else immediately halts to prevent this from happening. One loose horse running around stirring up the others or possibly running into another horse. This is stupid. Just stop the race and start over minus the disqualified team.

This type of race should be banned. that first jockey almost got run over! Guys, I get that you like steeplechase, but why are you ok with jockeys being in constant danger like this when you yourselves wouldn't want to be in their place?

Jockeys know what to expect when they take these juveniles racing. Experiences improve both the horses and the jockeys and if they decide not to continue racing, at least they have the choice to stop being jockeys.
Some / a few of the horses may end up as dressage horses (like poor Kauto Star) but most will settle to the job they're bred for after a bit more practice.

I don't understand why horses have to run with riders, people are an unnecessary burden to them. Hate this sport

Horse racing is ethically questionable and is always at the expense of the horses. Please never bet on horses. Thanks
