Hi everyone. I know it took Nic a lot of courage to come on here and share his story. I've looked all over the internet for someone like him. He truly is an inspiring human being. If you have the link to this video early, feel free to pass it onto others who may benefit. You can also start leaving likes and comments before its official RUclips release to let us know you're there =)
Took shrooms and had my first bad trip to where I thought I was dead. A week later I started hearing voices. It was hell giving me terrible paranoia. I was on the brink of insanity until I realized what the causes were. A month later I have had everything pretty much under control for the most part. Its helped me try to get my life together
Shrooms and physcgdelics, LSD are the reason why so many people end up with mental health conditions like psychosis, halucinaciones, delusions etc, it's definitely not something for everyone, it's scary, not everyone should put stuff in their bodies for testing purposes
@@johndoeredfeather9600 That’s not accurate. Studies have been done and there’s no link between psychedelic use and psychosis. The results have been published in Nature if you care to have a look.
Great content, thanks. I live with bipolar and psychosis, unmedicated for the last 28 years. It took me 25 years to learn that smoking weed was not good for me. I had to go through this countless times to learn this lesson. I'm not saying that it's easy as I do still experience psychosis and anything that gets me excited can be a trigger, such as falling in love or finding a new money-making scheme etc... The most important things for me is sleep, routine and having a small group of trusted friends around me who can see if I'm going high. I now work part-time as a peer worker, helping people rebuild their lives after experiencing psychosis.
this is an awesome vid. super natural how he talks about this stuff. my brother has bipolar and struggles with it a lot. really cool to see someone like this talk about how he pushed through and how he keeps his illness in check. he is so honest with himself, super refreshing
This had explained my recent experience with a drug-induced psychosis caused by a mixture of weed on a comedown of magic mushrooms. I had extremely vivid, real images of demonic beings and satanic rituals, etc... I recall seeing block lettering spelling out send help everywhere, my vision became animated and cartoon-like, similar to that of an extremely high acid dose, with strange gothic, medieval graphics appearing in my vision as if they were just crystal clear images and videos placed over what I was seeing, and it was all very real. Although Nic and my experiences varied in the style and appearance of our different hallucinations, I'd just like to thank him for sharing his experiences with drug-induced psychosis, as it provided me with much more clarity over my experiences that medical services just could not provide. Such an amazing insightful story and interview... Thank you.
"should i take a psychedelic?" imagine yourself as a being that has never been born. you have no idea what human life is. you have never met anyone who has ever been in human form. the only thing you know is this "pre-form" existence. you have heard of this thing called "life" but you can only try to imagine what it is, to no avail, since living a human life is something that to you at this moment, is little more than a word. a lot like the word "heaven" or "hell" is to you now. the best you can do is to speculate on what it might be like to experience that existence... knowing full well that whatever it is that you imagine is probably not at all what this "life" thing will be, since of course you have never experienced anything remotely like it. An angel asks you if you'd like to experience "life on Earth". Is it safe?
I loved this interview. I really appreciated how he talked about the psychosis but he didn’t go into the stories & glorify them but really focused on staying positive & that healing can happen. I really, really got so much out of it & I’m so grateful to have come across this. Thank you & namaste 🙏❤️
23:06 sounds like catatonia. I had catatonic depression at one point. It physically and mentally hurts to move and it's almost as if your brain is motivated not to move or you will experience something horrible... It's such a strange experience
I can relate to what he said about learning to control the feelings rather than keeping going into it. The difference with me is that I had bipolar with mostly mixed states. I would be full of energy, mind racing, couldn't sleep but all I could think about was dark things, suicide, death, everything wrong with my life and having no motivation. It was torture, so I was happy to get rid of it. I get kind of jealouse when I hear about the ecstatic highs they had with bipolar. Weird thing really.
I hear you. The curse of the ecstatic high "type" is that you never want to "get better" and it leads to longer and more destructive recoveries with higher risk of relapses etc.
It's nice to hear this. I have dealt with similar. although their medicines, I think helped me through the toughest time, once that was over with, those medicines just seemed to be stealing my emotions from me. I ended up not caring about creating music and playing my guitar, which before their meds was my passion. as far as standard western medicine goes, psychology seems to be helping me the most. outside of that I find that meditation is very helpful as well. I like meditation and exercise the most because they are things that i can do on my own. mindfulness. paying attention to my mind and what is going on in there, and paying attention and taking notes on what might be triggering any specific emotion or feeling. the more I understand myself, the more control I have over my mind. And of course, i have to stay away from most every drug that i used to abuse. Since i tend to stay alone for long periods of time i have to make it a point to visit friends and family. if i make sure that no more than a few weeks goes by without a visit with my family my mind seems to stay fairly sociable.
Thank you for sharing your story Nic! It takes more people as generous as you are with your story to help shift perspectives and gain deeper understanding 😊. I appreciate your courage & strength.

Thank you for sharing I passed trought the same kind of experience with marihuana induced psychosis I got diagnosed as bipolar but as Nic says they should be more careful when labeling mental illness because once I stoped smoking and I quite those mood stabilizers everything got under control. Some times I wonder if I should take other drugs as I´m more of a materialistic scientist person and wonder about experiencing that spiritual sensation that you get from this as he describes it this god-like power sensation. And there are many things that intrigue me about bringing back that state of consciousness. I quit weed about a year ago and it really got to me that when he talks about celebrating one year with drugs as a reward and then needing to get back to rehab, is something that I don´t particularly would like to go trought again, so it comes as a warning as well as a reminder. Thank you for sharing, best wishes.
Have you had psychosis several times? Are you still smoking weed? I went psychotic 20 years ago and haven't smoked since , but due to insomnia I'm thinking of smoking weed again, but I'm terrified I would get psychotic again
I experimented with shrooms and had a good experience for the most part then one day I drank beer and smoked some weed while tripping just off a gram of shrooms and immediately out of nowhere with my friends started dramatically panicking and absolutely tripping balls it was the most terrorizing experience of my life I had no control of my mindset or what I could think I thought I was dying for about 3 hours that night, for 4 weeks I experienced anxiety or psychosis constantly crying to myself saying I just want to be back normal and I would never do any drug ever again. It’s now been 5 weeks and I’m back in my normal mindset not even wanting to look at a drug. PLEASE DONT DO SHROOMS (maybe if your in a life crisis) the bigger picture is your perfect as you are.
This is the education kids should have as teens. Don't spill chemicals on your hard drive. This is the MOST terrifying results of trying to fix emotional problems with drugs, the more intelligent and creative the brain, the worse it is and what it could come up with. This is the reality of mind altering substances, it should be shared. but it's worse than horror for me to watch, I can't watch the whole thing. 😰😰😰
Most drug induced psychosis I have had are through the use of dph. While the visuals can be scary the voices, lack of memory and confusion is defiantly the worst imo. You just fall in and out of it.
This was really nice to watch. Something I will say is that acid and DMT are what triggered my psychosis.. definitely would not recommend and yes, I was in a “positive” setting. People’s bodies and minds just react differently unfortunately..
This is such a wholesome interview. I relate to you in the sense that I've been through drug induced psychosis (mania) as well and hospitalized for 3 months. I had side effects of tardive dyskenia which is the parkinson's-like random twitching or paralysis sometimes due to antipsychotics which I eventually weaned off of. The interviewee seems so sweet and cool. I wish him a good and maintained recovery.
I have psychosis that flairs up on weed /high stress.ive been curious about microdosing psilocybin to improve my functionality. But people say its too dangerous. Ive never been able to work full time for a long time

May I ask how long the hallucinations lasted from the psychotic episode? Just asking out of personal curiosity I've been a hard drug user for 12 years 5 years ago was diagnosed schizoaffective and the hallucinations have persisted consistently however they are much more real vivid and strong when I stop the meds which unfortunately I have resigned myself to the fact that I need to take them sitting in a half way house right now got 8 months clean. Dont really wanna say more because I'd be at risk of sounding a bit out of it.
