My biggest problems with shark are the ineffective cyclone set up and repair ability because they can be extremely difficult to repair and get parts. However when they work they are really good cleaners and admittedly I do like the powered lift away models. However there’s definitely much better options out there for sure, I’d much prefer a simple bagged vacuum with less maintenance.
They probably do that on purpose so you have to buy a new one that’s how they make money. But Kirby’s may be expensive but they can outlive you if you take real good care of them
A common problem for these sharks are a broken hose, broken lower head hose, and power head failure, which is what occurred for me when I found one on the curb-side. The power head would turn red as soon as the vacuum was turned on, which or course I thought was a blown motor (which I was dumb enough to not check anything else). After installing the new motor it still wasn’t working to which I thought maybe it was a coincidence. I ended up stripping it down and found out that a large resistor had gone pop and put a bunch of black dust inside to which I thought was carbon dust. I still have it apart in my room with the other circuit board which I need to de-solder to put a new resistor on, however its old, the click fittings aren’t great, both hoses are broken, is it worth even trying to save it?
Im like you, give me a Sanitaire any day. Im not lazy, so I can easily use a canister, like a Mighty Mite, for attachment use. Both machines are proven designs, can easily be repaired, and clean well
The handle is off. You may nit like shark but that model is legit. I have the newer version. i would outclean any Bissell and Dyson. For reference, watch vacuum wars, dyson vs. shark. Bissell vacuums are trash. Bissell crosswalk and Symphony are great machines. I love this model and the newer model, but when you grow up using bagged machines, I can see your point. But cmon, Bissell vacuums are not even close, lol.
As I said in the video, I don't like using this at all whatsoever. The clip to hold the handle on is very weak, it's awkward to push on this carpet, and the pre filter gets dirty very fast. Even though this one does do the job, I wouldn't ever own one. Otherwise if I had to own a Shark, my preference would be the original Navigator with the 21 cyclones as I thought that was a rather decent model. Of course they don't make those anymore. But I've just simply used better including Dyson and Bissell so I stand behind my opinion. Vacuum Wars' tests are misleading, at first I thought they were fair but later I've been questioning their results.
My folks have had this model Shark since 2012/2013. A bit bulky, but one of the most reliable vacuums they have ever bought from a big box store.

You can't say repairing a mighty mite is easy.
Easier than a Shark or Dyson
