Eric good information. I can't wait until I can ge back into the garage to carve. its way to cold and we had a blizzard last week. You make it look so easy.
Wow, great video Eric and Vicky. So many great tips and info in one video. I did like the speed carving scene with the music. When I'm getting ready to carve a sign, I always review your videos on whatever I may be working on, and pay close attention to how you carve. You're fast even at normal speed, but it's good to keep that router moving. Especially on curves. Thanks! Have a good weekend.
Eric, Thank you so much for this video. I especially enjoyed the first part about the jigs, tools etc. I was one of the people asking for it and as always, you delivered. Cheers!
Hi, I just found your channel a few days ago and I have to say I havent got much done. I have been watching hours and hours of videos lol. I love you and your dad. I love how close you two are. Kids today dont know how to cherish their parents. They are too busy on their phones. I absolutely love this channel. You are organized and explain everything so well. Thanks for all of the time you have committed to this.
Thank you Randy, glad you found us. Yes dad and I have been close since I was a little kid. I love working with him every day side by side. Wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for watching, we very much appreciate it, Eric
Eric, Dave and Vickie, we just want to take a moment to say Thank You. It is common for you to say that y’all are amazed at the quality of us first-time/newbie carvers. Well, we owe it all to you. Ginger and I set up our shop exactly like yours. We have a sanding board with rails, two sanders, primer and ink, etc. Most of our stuff we either made or bought for a song at the local pawn shop (except bits and templates of course!) But most importantly, we pay close attention to your teachings. It is because you are so willing to share your knowledge and provide such excellent details that we are doing such good work right out of the box.
Wow, Thank you so much Karl & Ginger. Such kind words and wonderful compliments. We so appreciate them, truly we do. We have such fantastic people that follow us (like you 2) and watch us that we do feel like a big family and just love to help. So happy you found us and we're able to pass on some info that helps. We'll never take that for granted. God blesses us every day and we'll keep doing what we do. Thank you again my friends for all the support, Eric
Good Morning Eric, another great newsletter! I like the way you sped up the carving portion. But I do have a couple couple comments / questions. The 1st one is more for the new sign carvers; what was the actual time that elapsed when you sped up the video? (how long did the carving take). Second what is a good source for the layout letter boxes (all the other items you mentioned). Hope you and all watching have a good weekend and stay safe in the shop making sawdust.
Hi Bruce, the carving went from about 3 min down to about 45 seconds. The boxes I think we got at Lowes but I know Harbor Freight has lots too. Thank you for watching my friend.
Nice rose. If you put the finish on after you do the sharpie, would that seal it enough so it would not fade?. Or would it discolor it to much?. OH, and bless you Vicki for the sneeze.
Yes I should have done that, I just forgot and knew the vid was going long. The finish make the color really pop and helps it last longer. It still fades after a while tho. Yes bless Vicki for the sneeze and for having to deal with me every day.....
Really great video! Like the new rose a lot, too! Tell me about your visor/magnifier that you wear. Is that also lighted? I picked up a luminolight, I like that, too. I had mounted 2 mini led flashlights in SUGRU, which lit the router up nice. Thanks for all you do!
Hi Tim, The ones I use currently have a brand name of READAEER. You should be able to find them on Amazon. Yes they do have lights on them. They're great. Thank you for watching and the question, Eric
Hey Eric, How do you prep your wood to prevent ink or paint bleeding, on inlaid letters. My theory is that the cedar I use is so soft of a wood, it soaks it, no matter how much sanding sealer I use.
Hi Tony, my guess is if cedar is bleeding then you are probably spraying too heavy or you are using a regular paint instead the primer or ink. I don't have any issues with bleeding on cedar at all, only pine.
I'm new to carving however I think I've gotten better since I bought your 60 degree, and your profile bits! I still struggle with sanding the paint off at the end. I use a ridged battery powered orbital sander. I think i need to invest in a belt sander. What do you think?
Wes, Thank you for watching. Taking off the black has several factors that could be the problem. First make sure not to use paint. Only the primer or ink that I use. Second, don't over spray. Third sand of with a rough belt / disk (40 or 50 grit) first, then go finer after that. I also agree that you may need a sander with more power. Thanks gain for all the support and for watching. Let me know if you have more questions. Thank you, Eric
great looking rose.👍👍👍
Thank you......
Thank you for your time and thorough demonstration you and your wife are a great team

Eric , nice video. May I suggest trying another rose and painting the leaves a light green?
Thank you Jack. I may give that a try...
Really thought the time lapse of routing out the rose was a nice and to the point.
Thank you, I liked it.

ON your Cedar fence boards........ do you sand those first? The one side of the board has a rough surface. How do you prepare the surface?
I just sand the face of the board enough to make a good layout. I go over lots of detail on video #60. Thank you for watching, Eric
As always , great video.
Thanks for sharing buddy, and have a great weekend.
Not one, but TWO thumbs up :)
/ Morgan
Thank you buddy
i think its awesome how you do the black background. where did you learn that?
Thank you Evan, my dad taught me about 45 years ago, Eric
