    You might notice that I didn't specify how any particular platform provided me with all these life-changing benefits, and that's because they've been a result of my overall online presence. So whether you've been dreaming about starting a RUclips channel, getting back to blogging, or diving into Instagram or Pinterest--know this video still applies... and you should DEFINITELY JUST START POSTING. ♥

    Hi Kaya! So lovely (and inspiring) to hear your story! As you know we are just starting out content creation adventure and your videos are a huge help!!! As a designer though I cannot resist telling you HOW MUCH I love all the wood work in your house!! Here in Calgary those old beautiful homes have almost all been torn, I am so jealous! :) Thanks again! Heather

    I absolutely love this video...side note have you ever thought about doing calming voice over cuz shesh girl your voice is so soothing..😅😅😅 ANY WAYS!!! I have to agree ...I am new to the space and I have to say alot of content creators have embrace me in the space . It's weird to be in a space like this with ppl who have millions of following my friend was like so how does it feel to be a content Creator/ influencer lol I laughed and I'm like girl in aspiring . I think as black Canadians we only have each other so I think that's why we band together also we understand the struggles of this industry. I won't lie I do get a little overwhelmed in these spaces and that's just more me being in my head suffering from imposter syndrome... I hope over time I get comfortable 😅😅😅 and it gets easier. I actually love the community especially in the black community here when it comes to creators. I love that you are able to document your Journey and that exactly what I wanna do where I started to where I went. Don't know if I would quit my job and Persue this full time as it is my dream job but who know. Love the video as always....look a cameo of Sherley and was that Casey as well?? . Hope we cross paths in the future

      Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words! 😂🥰 It's funny because worrying that my voice was too monotone was what kept me from doing RUclips for YEARS.. and now people are saying it's calming, I'm so touched and what a full circle moment. 😂
      But yesss I think you're so right about the Canadians banding together, it really is such a small world in general, and even moreso for us! I'm so proud of you, and excited to see more of your own journey unfold. Haha yessss it is a cameo of them, you're definitely next!! 👏🏽

    I agree with the nostalgia thing. I’m always amazed that one day, our children’s generations will be able to watch their grandparents (us) in their young years talking on RUclips.

      Yess!! It’s quite surreal-I wonder if they will appreciate it the way we look back fondly on photos of our grandparents before our time?

    Girl, ❤ the content always. I just started a channel and business on the side of my job. I am afraid of them (work) finding it and canning me. I am moving forward but am scared because my family relies on my income. You helped me feel okay, things will be okay. Thank you 🙏

      I'm so proud of you!! Honestly I know it's different at every job, but I was also TERRIFIED of anyone finding out for ages. It's the main reason I started under the name 'ComfyGirlCurls', my real name was nowhere to be found on any of my content. BUT.. I do think we're at a stage where most jobs recognize you can have a separate online presence and life outside of them, just depends what you do and if there is a conflict of interest. Eventually I couldn't hide it because my coworkers were being served my sponsored posts on Instagram, so I opened up. Everyone ended up thinking it was quite cool. 😂

    Your videos have been inspiring me as a smaller creator who is actually making a living from this. For someone whose just beginning, how would you say to go about building relationships with brands from the beginning if possible so we can grow even sooner? Basically is there anything you would tell a sister or best friend to get started as a micro influencer to begin building a community and getting paid the soonest?
    Thank you for your help with this growth!
    Blanca ✨

      Hello Hello!! I would say two things, don't be afraid to start building connections with smaller brands. They might not always have the biggest budgets but it's so rewarding and you get to feel like you are ACTUALLY a part of growing something with them, and as they and their budgets grow you can grow alongside them.
      Also when it comes to bigger brands, choose a handful that you use organically and go super hard into being in their face (in a classy way 😂). I would go out of m way to support their content, engage in their stories, and feature them organically in my posts. Brands are more likely to want to work with a smaller creator that is truly a mega fan of their stuff than a larger one who has never once talked about them or engaged with them.

  • @okaywhat123
    @okaywhat123 7 месяцев назад +1

    This might sound dumb but, do u need to follow all the brands you want to work with? Like if I create a reel or post of a product I use, and I tag them, should I be following them before I post ? I try not to clog my feed bc I get so overwhelmed. Would love your opinion on this, Kaya ❤

    • @CreatingwithKaya
      @CreatingwithKaya  7 месяцев назад +1

      Oh this is such a great question!! I used to follow Brands RIGHT LEFT AND CENTRE. Ones I used and made content about, others I just hoped to work with one day, and some that I honestly didn't care that much about but hopped would still notice me 😅--but over the years I've unfollowed a ton to make my feed a bit less clogged. But I do still follow those that I REALLY do love, and that I work with.
      I do think it is good at the very least to follow anyone you might be pitching directly, because it's not the best look if you're like "I'm a fan"... and you aren't following them. One option could be to follow so that you can actively seek them out and engage on your own terms, but keep them muted so that they don't flood your feed. And also in general just be selective--no need to follow everyone if it's not the vibe or authentic to your interests but *do* know that some brands *do* notice if you aren't following, or engaging with them.

      @@okaywhat123 I've honestly had some deals come through simply from following and actively engaging with some brands! So it's definitely worth it!
