Really impressed with your mentioning of Blackrock. Not many people have heard of it (which is no accident) so I’m glad you’re sharing this with an audience that probably hasn’t either.

Also let clown express himself and insult a bunch of people or things he doesn't like (which is also highly entertaining). Jay maybe says the least but is usually on point and very effective. Anyways, this was great.

One thing I'd like to get off my chest real quick would be that companies and CEOs that are "progressive" during pride month have no issue turning around and funding politicians that directly oppose LGBT existence so long as it boosts their profits. Its easy to laugh at something like extreme political correctness as being ridiculous because it is, but the underlying reason why performative wokeness exists is that it draws attention away from the actions of corporations who exploit their workers. A good example would be like when Nike partnered with Colin Kaepernick against police brutality, their sales went up because it gave them a lot of free advertising when racist boomers started burning their shoes. But when actual progressives took action against Nike's use of sweatshops through labor law investigations, corporate lawyered up hard because they will do anything possible to protect their profits.

Yeahh, and if they do have a shallow understanding they at least present their own interpretation of it with a rationale vs "that's crazy bro" , marvel punchline and scene
This is my first time watching the podcast, 10 minutes in and it's a wild experience being validated on this. We are definitely in an oligarchy within decapitalism, at least in America. They can make profit without needing people to buy their products because they'll just raise all prices on all goods and services (so you have no other choice), but not increase wages, so you're stuck in a difficult financial situation you cannot get out of. Then you have no time, money, or energy to enjoy your life or more importantly, take civil action like participating in a general strike or mutual aid.
Please don't stop making these episodes, they're quite literally the best podcast content out there right now. I've never been so interested in a podcast like TBH.
The biggest thing with ESG is a lot of it is how you message your company not actual change. For example companies can lose ESG score by not having slave workers in 3rd world countries but can gain score for saying they will do that.

I don’t think it matters what side of the isle you are on. Is it okay for individuals to use their ill-gotten power to manipulate society for their own purposes just because they claim to be socially leftist authoritarian capitalists?
If the fact that they're (disingenuously) pushing left agenda and that's ENOUGH for you to even have a tiny bit of doubt that a giant shadow company controlling culture to such a degree is a bad thing, you need to rethink your life. You're their exact target demographic that's enabling all of this.
It's because this is dog-whistling; they're not giving it to you straight. Nerd, as many commenters have identified and agreed with, is trying to point to a shadowy-cabal of left-leaning particularly Jewish people running the world and using their undeserved power to manipulate the masses and corrupt society. You can say that the other 2 did dodgy things in the past and have already faced consequences but Mike still hasn't been pinned on anything and is still doing it. In response to something the clow said at the 24 minute mark, "You didnt have to do all the menial little stuff and waste your time", I would say that it speaks about creative integrity. Something I've noticed about Pyro in his most recent stage of longform essays on the main channel is that he seems less about creating a review or thesis about the game he plays, its more of an extremely thorough report on the techniques, themes and content available. Of in analysing art you must be subjective, but pyro seems to have his sights set on being as thorough and objective as possible. Because everyone has different experiences with games if you want to create an accounting of it you have to remove as much subjectivity as possible, and some of that is experiencing literally everything that a subjective view could be based upon. Also why play games if not 2 waste time
Come and See was quite well known in academic and cinefile circles. Was in the UK Top 100 Most Upsetting Moments in Film and TV. Concerning Ethan, Jeff has burned bridges and rightfully so thanks Ethan for lighting the match. Tana had no real beef with him for years. Mike may be guilty but he sure played the innocent card. 24:35 Luckily Hollow Knight isn't like that, Pyro. Getting to 112% in Hollow Knight is a majestic experience all the way through. The worst thing you're going to feel is frustration from how difficult the final few challenges are, that's it. It's 100% worth playing through, easily the most polished and artistically beautiful metroidvania of all time.
The fact is that those ESG scores are just a poor excuse to look good to the morons while creating those boundaries to rule them without them noticing it and even being happy about it .

Good episode. Thanks for the info on Blackrock. Really enjoy that you guys have such a significant variety of subjects. Keep at it.
we've really met a dark age if youtubers are starting to refer to 2016 as the "Wild west".
32:53 A great tried and true example is Receiver where they accurately have you reload the gun in a meticulous manner to avoid failure, insanely nerve-wracking but then it becomes more or a legitimate understanding of certain mechanical ideas.
I've never liked Mike and I've always thought there was something sus about that book... But I wouldn't have guessed it went that deep omfg. On another note - I literally play EVERYTHING with a mouse and keyboard, including Elden Ring. I also watched the whole play through of Cruelty Squad and I liked it - it's like a fever dream. The aesthetic matches the game, it's chaotic and messy entirely bent around the madness it's meant to be. I like these weird little games - especially the storylines behind them.
Lmao the only thing I remember from that Mom's Basement Episode is how defensive that melon seller was about his porn star girlfriend
cool intro i really like how much effort you guys put into it even though it's not really going anywhere lol
Hearing Pyro talk about Cruelty Squad wants me to watch him cover Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator.
