Just compare the dunk from Houston at 8:58 with all of Kemp's dunks....he hardly rattled the rim. Every time Kemp packed it, it sounded like he just about broke the rim. What made Kemp so special was his power + style. He had all of these flashy (big and small mannerisms during AND after he dunked.-what I'm trying to say is every dunk looked completely different in some way....Lebron dunks great, but 90% of the time it looks like the SAME EXACT dunk--a 1 handed power slam. Kemp ahhhhh the best
Kemp had serious athleticism and skills. His left hand was great and his hands were big enough that he could Palm the ball a little bit and get up to dunk so quickly.
I hadn't seen this one... OMG... These Sonics made me fall in love with basketball, I owe them a lot. And what can I say about Kemp? He was the number one for me. I miss so much those days... NBA teams today can't be compared to those teams that made us jump from our seats in the 90's...
Defense, low post play from the 4s and 5s, transition plays, and hardly any 3s being shot....such beauty in the game back then....these days.....no defense, the 4s and 5s play beyond the 3 point arc, little to no transition play, and each team shoots 35 3-pointers per game, with the center shooting about 8 of them.
Gary Payton used to dunk with the frequency of someone like Chris Paul but Shawn kemp would hands down be the starting 4 on my all time team.. Only second to Shaq in lb for lb athletecism
Lol at people hating on 'the new rules, no handchecking, etc.' Look at the touch-foul, if there ever is a foul at 0:35. I loved the old rules, especially the taunting etc. but everyone makes it seem like a night-and-day difference, but it ain't
regarding Kemp - can someone explain to me why gifted players such as him shine for a certain time span, a handful of seasons at best, only to disappear completely? Take Jimmy Jackson. Take Isaiah Rider, Vince Carter, Kemp, whoever... when I watch footage of these guys, I can only marvel at 1) how good they were and 2) what the hell happened to their careers.
I think he was drafted by Detroit from Tennessee, then when he went to the Knicks he got much more publicity...cuz it's NY :P lol. He gamed in Detroit tho. AH never really had a bad season starting out.
Kevin Calabro + Shawn Jemp = highlight greatness!

Kemp 's moves and dunks are amazing, no one can do like him these days!
No one moved and dunked like Kemp when he was playing either.
Love this era of the NBA!

Man i forget how much i used to love GP and Kemp!
Gotta love Payton's kung-fu layups
90s NBA man just cant get any better than this
Kevin Calabro will always be the voice of the Sonics!
Watching this clip again. That lefty dunk at the start is so vicious for an opposite hand. Kemp 40 the beast
Nathan Wells so true!
Nathan Wells definitely Kemp didn't do (slap in dunks) like Blake Griffin...AKA poor man's Shawn Kemp.
He did another lefty on the Bucks that was awesome. Clips in a nba top ten
Kemp did left handed posterizing dunk on Alozo Mourning :)
Лариса Салиева yeah that was a famous game. Kemp was such a beast.
My GOD I miss Kevin Callabro.
There was so much toughness and the players had better on court personalities than players of this sissified era.
Kemp40 and payton20 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🏀🏀🏀
Shawn Kemp all the way baby! I grew up in the Puget Sound during the Kemp/Payton days!
I can hear Reign Man 'Wa-Daaa' each time he kung fu power dunks. Absolute. Legend.
Houston and Grant Hill were a pretty good duo.
As a Piston's fan I was disappointed when Houston didn't want to play on Hill's team.
He dunked in the '97 All-Star game too, off two feet. And for added interest, Nick Van Exel dunked in the '98 All-Star game :)

6:18
"INSTANT REPLAY AY AY AY"
Classic
Kemp packed that first dunk hard with the left.
shame he bricked the 2 dunks in the first half, still got style points but lol
DAMN how many dunks by Kemp?
4:28 I've seen countless Sonics games, but I think this is the first time that I've seen Gary Payton dunking.
payton and lindsey going at it. two of the best ball hawks.
payton was playin the hell out the passin lanes
Kemp should've stayed in Seattle smh dude came to Cleveland just to eat and get high
kemp was the man
i like blake griffin's dunks but i'm goin for shawn kemp...still d best facial dunker ever...
he also got a nice dunk against Chicago in the Finals with Jordan chasing him down!
Kemp's left hand was so strong. Also, this announcer is hilarious. Totally over-dramatic.
Gary Payton used to dunk with the frequency of someone like Chris Paul but Shawn kemp would hands down be the starting 4 on my all time team.. Only second to Shaq in lb for lb athletecism
still better than cp3 and blake
my favorite 2 teams in the world!!!!!!!! #pistons #sonics
I love those green sonics uniforms. They are sweet.
@7:54 HAHAHA "Left hand side of the key.." "Shhhit" ... "FUCK"
Nice to see Payton dunk 👍

the sonics won this game by 40. lol pure pwnage
grant hill was so close to averaging a triple double, he would have got it, I swear he would have
@mekoka He dunked in the finals remember, after Vinny stripped MJ then Gary gave him the stare lol. Pretty sure anyway.
Change the title to Gary Payton vs Lindsay Hunter
@JJSideshowBob kemp for 10 years was the man..its oke...life its not only basketball!
HAND TIME BY KEMP IS AMAZING AT 3:33
Кемп в порядке!!! Вот это образец пауэр форварда!!!
6:25 is just nasty

Thanks God! i've seen GP dunk!!!
@6:28 Daaaammmmm
@blablamusic yea maybe you're right, it really isn't.
Lindsey Hunter, Allan Houston & Grant Hill...if only they would've put some more talent around those young guys and kept them together...who knows!!
Damn I never could remember Allen Huston playing for Detroit..
he didb
he did
he did
I think he was drafted by Detroit from Tennessee, then when he went to the Knicks he got much more publicity...cuz it's NY :P lol. He gamed in Detroit tho. AH never really had a bad season starting out.
if Hill stay at the suns he will see Lindsey Hunter.
10 years later, Hunter's team would beat Payton's...fot the NBA TITLE!
believe it or not there were garbage referees in the 90s too
HAND TIME LMAO HANG TIME I MEANT
@Nadal771 Blake Griffin is the closest one it seems.
Dunk do Gary Payton
