Attention to detail. From the way Kano jumped to avoid the slider kick to the way the guy wobbled before Jax performed a fatality on him. This was on point!
I did too thought it fit the aesthetic well. I always hated the thought of him having a half mask with where you can see his flesh but take it off and its a whole skeleton head🤦🏾♂️

I know everyone likes Kano, but I really liked Kabol. With the short amount screen time he had, he showed such great personality that just stuck out to me that was memorable. Also Sonya would be my secondary pick as she showed great consistency while also having a little mini story of her own with not being a chosen one but then later earning her Mark. Her fight scene with Kano was pretty neat since she didn’t have any special abilities like the other characters.
I can ignore the messiness of the script and editing for the pure fan service. I felt like a nerdy little kid again (as opposed to a nerdy adult like always) seeing all my favorites. Kung Lao has always been my favorite. RIP
@XTRA V1CI0US Cole Young was the "audience stand in". He needed the MK universe explained to him and that's how the audience gets it. I bet that in the 2nd movie more characters will be pushed to the spotlight. Liu Kang was set up perfectly with Kun Lao's death.
Yeah, I don't understand the "Cole Young" character when they have Liu Kang all along... I perfectly agree how Kung Lao's death would be more impactful if they put more spotlight on Kung Lao and Liu Kang growing up!

Reiko was a fudgin disgrace. Didn’t look like him at all from the games and he didn’t say one word... did he? I’m not a huge fan by all means for Reiko or even Nitara or Reptile but damn, the jobbers get jobbed 😂 and I’m not surprised. Just wish they did more with them. Kabal was the most interesting one of that group along with sub zero

One of my favorite scenes is when Liu Kang and Kano are practicing at raidens temple and Liu Kang keeps kicking Kano’s feet making him fall and Kano says “Is that the only move you know?” Because people always spam this move 😂 anyway great vid and great movie!
They did me dirty on the pit. How could they tease us The Pit like that and not have someone fall onto the spikes man? Apart from that I actually loved this take on the story and I'm really looking forward to the sequel
Yes, absolutely. Jax was the perfect character to perform it too. Just have him uppercut his opponent 10 feet in the air then send them plummeting to their death. Would have conveyed the same strength as crushing Reiko’s head and been much cooler
I felt the same way! And because of the red band trailer I already knew how the fight would end. Imo I think Reiko's headless body should've toppled over the edge onto the spikes below.
I loved the movie... the Scorpion and Sub-Zero storyline was by far my favorite part. It was a lot crammed into not that much time but I really think it was a awesome

I liked all the violence and some of the characters like Scorpion and Kano but they didn’t take full advantage of the source material I wanted more but what we got was ok
Ya I feel like hardcore fans are disappointed with it because it felt like an opening pilot to a tv show more than anything else. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it, I’ll watch it again, but it didn’t satisfy me mostly because of Cole Young and the fact that the tournament wasn’t a main focus point. It’s like come on... things were just rushed and scenes jumped so quickly and I was bothered by that. I’m sounding like a snob but growing up on MK, it made me go wtf. Goro gets washed by generic OP guy, Reiko doesn’t even look like Reiko at all and he is pointless, Shao Kahn isn’t even talked about let alone the dang tournament itself. It’d be interesting to see how they continue from all this. (In a better way I hope)

I know the Kabal kharacter and everything but I actually liked what they did with him in the movie, they gave him kind of a Boba Fett badass vibe to him.
Was hoping to see an after-credits scene where Shang Tsung is in the outworld and he says, "Prince Goro failed me. I hope you do not fail me!" and you hear a growl and a tiger-striped arm.
The 1995 version only had $18 million to work with, and the story was ten times better than the shit we got in this movie. No amount of money should excuse a poorly written script.
I dislike it because it's a bad movie. You can do a good movie with 50 millions. They should have reduced the scope and do something more personal, maybe a movie about Raiden or Johny cage, or Scorpion. Hell, do a freaking movie about Scorpion. Forget about the rest, about the war, etc... Everything felt so cheap, the acting was so bad, the cringe everywhere, the bad choices for the argument, the bad script... Come on, with 50 millions you can do a good script.
I loved it, played the games my entire life. Also never understood the crazy love for Johnny Cage lol to each their own but he was always the character i didnt care for. Really hope we get more films!

I'm 50/50. Saw it yesterday. There were some things I didn't like such as the symbol being transferrable, Kung Lao's Death and lack of tournament. I was relieved to find out Kano was bad as much of the promotional material made it seem like he would be more of a not so bad guy(on the good team). I liked the way they handled Kabal. Gave him more personality than I expected. Gave him that connection to Kano. The fatalities were great, but too much story build up and the fights were a bit rushed. I feel the promotional material spoiled too much as they showed too many of the parts that in the end were the highlights of the movie.

My favourite death was sub zero because it is just from the game lore and i love that he does the original fatality now even tho it wasnt his skull i still loved the effects and dusted movement afterwards when his corpse drops i love those details filmmakers put in this film even if it feels rushed sometimes when someone dies, like mileena and sub zero dies and shang is like ok who gives a f*** which gets me laughing in some poorly done pacing
I really disliked Cole Young just like I thought I would.. Some of the costumes sucked bad as well.. Only thing I really liked was the gore and sub zero looked good.. Scorpions costume was not the best either and to me was a major let down... And the symbol thing was annoying...
Great comment on Cole Young too. I think it was needed too. Some of the criticism of Raiden and Shang Tsung ("they aren't like the 1995 movie".. shows fans see what they want to see. Both Tsung and Raiden perfectly captured how they are in the games.. well, pre-MK11 for Shang Tsung).
They should've did multiple movies building up to the tournament. A Sub zero scoprpion prequel, A raiden prequel, and Liu Kang Kungloa pequel. Then finally bringing everyone together for the tornament.

Yeah.. pacing was definitely off. Kinda saw this coming too because of the huge cast of characters. But overall was expecting a lot worse especially from someone with little directing experience. Could’ve been another annihilation but it wasn’t and that’s good enough imo
Dude, I'm watching 45-50 minutes of the movie! Lol! Saw the part where Kano has his laser beam! All he wanted was an egg roll and the next thing you know he blast out a beam of light out of his right eye.
It was good but the plot was kinda rushed because they had to explain so many origin stories, I give 7/10 But don’t forget that the actor who plays sub zero, Joe Taslim has said he is signed on for four more sequels and possibly spin-offs in his contract. Yeah the director, Simon MuCoid had been said that he was going to make sequels and what’s crazy is, this is his first time directing and he made a C grade movie and shiiiit that’s a passing grade by any critics standards so, it wasn’t great but it wasn’t bad and also remember that this movie is the base ground for what’s to come. Cole Young ofc was the anchor point for the newcomers of the Mortal Kombat universe and his origin story was kinda rushed(like many of the other characters) but I’m sure he will be fleshed out in the sequels🙂 Thank you for reading.
One thing that was missing that I was waiting for the whole movie was the "MORTAL KOMBAT!" during the song. They started playing the song when scorpion came back and was fighting sun zero but I didn't hear that in the song.
Saw it in theaters. It was actually so fun. Didnt expect some philosophical, deep movie. It's a violent video game. I got a violent movie. I got all the easter eggs and fan service I wanted. I am looking forward to a sequel.
I thought that this movie was a cinematic masterpiece. Especially with all the references to the videos games. Also the fact that Hanzo returned just to kill Sub-Zero was awesome.

Bruh I was PISSED when Kung Lao was killed off. Seeing him get used as Liu Kang’s emotional arc the third time in a row is seriously infuriating to me as a Kung Lao fan.
Lui Kang, Kung Lao, Kabal, Sonya, Kano, and Sub-Zero were great in the movie!!!!! Cole Young actually was a good character to help explain what Mortal Kombat is and that he is connected to Scorpion. Cannot wait for Johnny Cage I hope will be amazing!!!!!

I liked all the violence and some of the characters like Scorpion and Kano but they didn’t take full advantage of the source material I wanted more but what we got was ok
Ya I feel like hardcore fans are disappointed with it because it felt like an opening pilot to a tv show more than anything else. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it, I’ll watch it again, but it didn’t satisfy me mostly because of Cole Young and the fact that the tournament wasn’t a main focus point. It’s like come on... things were just rushed and scenes jumped so quickly and I was bothered by that. I’m sounding like a snob but growing up on MK, it made me go wtf. Goro gets washed by generic OP guy, Reiko doesn’t even look like Reiko at all and he is pointless, Shao Kahn isn’t even talked about let alone the dang tournament itself. It’d be interesting to see how they continue from all this. (In a better way I hope)

I was very upset when they killed off Kung Lao and when they revealed that Cole Young is going to find Johnny Cage It made me very excited to see the sequel!!! That's why people thinking it's a curse cuz it's too coincidental that both actors who have played Kano in live-action incarnations of Mortal Kombat have died!!

I know the Kabal kharacter and everything but I actually liked what they did with him in the movie, they gave him kind of a Boba Fett badass vibe to him.

Was hoping to see an after-credits scene where Shang Tsung is in the outworld and he says, "Prince Goro failed me. I hope you do not fail me!" and you hear a growl and a tiger-striped arm.
I was hoping to see Shao Kahn and Kitana as a possible end credits tease (this was back when I thought Mel Jarnson was Kitana)

I dislike it because it's a bad movie. You can do a good movie with 50 millions. They should have reduced the scope and do something more personal, maybe a movie about Raiden or Johny cage, or Scorpion. Hell, do a freaking movie about Scorpion. Forget about the rest, about the war, etc...
Everything felt so cheap, the acting was so bad, the cringe everywhere, the bad choices for the argument, the bad script... Come on, with 50 millions you can do a good script.
My family never played or watched anything Mortal Kombat but I thought it was funny how they were upset when Kung Lao died.

I'm 50/50. Saw it yesterday. There were some things I didn't like such as the symbol being transferrable, Kung Lao's Death and lack of tournament. I was relieved to find out Kano was bad as much of the promotional material made it seem like he would be more of a not so bad guy(on the good team). I liked the way they handled Kabal. Gave him more personality than I expected. Gave him that connection to Kano. The fatalities were great, but too much story build up and the fights were a bit rushed. I feel the promotional material spoiled too much as they showed too many of the parts that in the end were the highlights of the movie.

My favourite death was sub zero because it is just from the game lore and i love that he does the original fatality now even tho it wasnt his skull i still loved the effects and dusted movement afterwards when his corpse drops i love those details filmmakers put in this film even if it feels rushed sometimes when someone dies, like mileena and sub zero dies and shang is like ok who gives a f*** which gets me laughing in some poorly done pacing

I really disliked Cole Young just like I thought I would.. Some of the costumes sucked bad as well.. Only thing I really liked was the gore and sub zero looked good.. Scorpions costume was not the best either and to me was a major let down... And the symbol thing was annoying...
Johnny Cage is by far my favorite MK character throughout the games. I hope they don't screw him up!

Great comment on Cole Young too. I think it was needed too. Some of the criticism of Raiden and Shang Tsung ("they aren't like the 1995 movie".. shows fans see what they want to see. Both Tsung and Raiden perfectly captured how they are in the games.. well, pre-MK11 for Shang Tsung).
They should've did multiple movies building up to the tournament. A Sub zero scoprpion prequel, A raiden prequel, and Liu Kang Kungloa pequel. Then finally bringing everyone together for the tornament.
i liked the movie and i loved the callbacks but i do feel like this movie was rushed and didn’t have much of a great plot as i was hoping for. really excited for the sequel tho. also i love your videos keep up the great work
Yeah.. pacing was definitely off. Kinda saw this coming too because of the huge cast of characters. But overall was expecting a lot worse especially from someone with little directing experience. Could’ve been another annihilation but it wasn’t and that’s good enough imo

It was good but the plot was kinda rushed because they had to explain so many origin stories, I give 7/10 But don’t forget that the actor who plays sub zero, Joe Taslim has said he is signed on for four more sequels and possibly spin-offs in his contract. Yeah the director, Simon MuCoid had been said that he was going to make sequels and what’s crazy is, this is his first time directing and he made a C grade movie and shiiiit that’s a passing grade by any critics standards so, it wasn’t great but it wasn’t bad and also remember that this movie is the base ground for what’s to come. Cole Young ofc was the anchor point for the newcomers of the Mortal Kombat universe and his origin story was kinda rushed(like many of the other characters) but I’m sure he will be fleshed out in the sequels🙂

One thing that was missing that I was waiting for the whole movie was the "MORTAL KOMBAT!" during the song. They started playing the song when scorpion came back and was fighting sun zero but I didn't hear that in the song.
Saw it in theaters. It was actually so fun. Didnt expect some philosophical, deep movie. It's a violent video game. I got a violent movie. I got all the easter eggs and fan service I wanted. I am looking forward to a sequel.
I thought that this movie was a cinematic masterpiece. Especially with all the references to the videos games. Also the fact that Hanzo returned just to kill Sub-Zero was awesome.

Lui Kang, Kung Lao, Kabal, Sonya, Kano, and Sub-Zero were great in the movie!!!!! Cole Young actually was a good character to help explain what Mortal Kombat is and that he is connected to Scorpion. Cannot wait for Johnny Cage I hope will be amazing!!!!!
