  • "Carl Froch made every excuse in the book...you gotta go the rest of your life...I admired him as a fighter, he's a tough son of a gun, but the bottom line is you was no match for Andre...what he did to you was enough to not want to go through that again...the next time, he would've knocked Carl Froch out," stated world-class trainer Virgil Hunter, who shared his thoughts on Carl Froch's decision to retire. Check it out!

Ward did fight Froch totally left handed&would've knocked him out in a rematch!Froch didn't realise until round 10 that he was fighting a one handed fighter!&Ward's later shoulder problems meant that he fought Kovalev one handed as well!A truly fantastic fighter!

That says a lot, how do you not notice you’re only being hit with one hand until 10 rounds in? He was that disoriented.

Andre Ward was something of an enigma. He looked the part against Froch, totally. But the more I watch it, the more I wonder what Joe Calzaghes fast hands and punch output would have done to Froch... Calzaghe v Ward would have been some fight, the A fight, the two Alphas at 168. Froch will only really be remembered as "yeh that guy was tough" The more nuanced of boxing fans will point out that he had to be, because his defence was piss poor.

Virgil the Prophet. Ward bullied him publicly and he never recovered. That’s worse than a knockout, 36 minutes of punishment that you can’t stop.

Froch has his own channel now (Froch on Fighting) and he’s an honest pundit. Not scared to voice his opinion. However, even though he invites questions, he still hasn’t answered mine about a Ward rematch. Froch was a proud fighter and would love to have retired with no unavenged defeats so why was a rematch never made? I don’t think he beats Andre on any night (and I’m a Brit!), but I disagree that he would’ve knocked Carl out. No way Froch underestimates Ward the way he did Groves in their first fight!

Carl did want the fight.. He wanted and had the rematch with Mikkel Kessler and won.. Ward retired 3 years later after getting knocked down and almost lost to a past he’s prime Sergey Kovalev

Kovalev fought ward again BECAUSE he was robbed in the first fight. The world knows Ward lost that first fight to kovalev...

Ward seems like a genuinely nine guy, and technically his skills are amazing. But, his style and his career leaves most people wanting. There's no big upside to having fought Andre Ward, as he had no big skill or personality to market. Like Vitali Klitschko, he was never relevant, even when he was meant to be relevant. He was a fighter for the purists, not the masses. Hunter is now simply trying to spin it's that everyone dreaded fighting him, but Ward fought so infrequently that it's still hard to take a true litmus test as to how good he really was, so in that sense, Virgil Hunter is full of shit.
