    if things get boring, one way to change it up is to change your aquascape. the left side of your tank looks great, but you could redo that side with the leathers and where the clam used to be. a rescape is always so much fun for me when i get bored.

    I bought two green slimer frags, one online grown under LEDs and one from my lfs grown under an eight T5 bulb fixture. I can’t believe the difference between them. T5 is brighter in color and better polyp extension.

    As for the lighting debate. Not needed. All three technologies have a proven track record. Halide, T5's, and LED will all grow just about every photosynthetic anything. You do you, I'll happy keep my Radion's, and we'll all be happy.

    Hi Scott , guys like you keep me reefing so don’t quit. I’ve been following you for over a decade and picked up a lot of great ideas. I moved to Florida and now starting a new tank which I’m having a hard time keeping corals alive. You should start a donation channel where your watchers can donate whatever and you can giveaway some frag corals from your tank or frags so you can keep the reef party going in RUclips. It is just a thought.

    @atfinthehouse8631 9 месяцев назад

    Sorry to see the clam go. 12 years is a good run. Not sure you could do better in a box. Tank is looking great.
    Hah, you mentioned branching leptoseras, got one in my office tank, lime green. Started as a flat 1/2 frag. It’s about 3+ years old. Central branch and branch off each corner of a 3” square frag disc.
    Run your tank the way you want. Get your maintenance schedule on track. But consider getting an aiptasia eating file fish. Nothing you have in the tank that they would bother. And if they start to, they are generally easy to catch and remove. Good luck and best wishes for the holidays and a good new year to you!

    I've been around the channel longer than I can remember. Favorite part of you is the fact you show every aspect. Most RUclipsrs only show the latest and greatest, and there's not wrong with that. However, seeing you go through the ups and downs shows us "hey, setbacks happen" and it's how we handle it that define us. Way to go Scott! I will agree MH are the best lights to grow corals and look the best over tanks, Its hard to debate that point if you've used them all at some point. I think the reason why LEDs do so well is that they grow corals, and they have the controlability, can run cooler, quieter and use less energy, so theyre more practical for most people. While I don't use MHs now, I am sad to see them go as I could see myself wanting to use them again.

    • @MileHighReefers
      @MileHighReefers  9 месяцев назад

      Its also the blues you get with LEDs my 20k MHs seem like white lights in comparison. I like the more natural look of MH

    My 48x48x24 tank has been up and running for around 4 years now. To be totally honest, at this point, I am in a simular mindset that I have all the equipment, fish, and corals that I really need. I sell frags every 3 to 4 months to buy salt. I must admit, I miss researching new products, and tinkering with those new products. But I have what I need. 8x T5 bulbs with 2 LED fixtures, skimmer, UV, dual reators, Cheato, heater(s), and two return pumps with spares are all I need. Fish are good. Corals are good. Now if I could only get rid of the aptasia. LOL I think Im doing pretty good and feeling really blessed.
